The dynamic characteristics of power systems become more and more complex because of the integration of large-scale wind power, which needs appropriate control strategy to guarantee stable operation. With wide area measurement system(WAMS) creating conditions for realizing realt-ime transient stability analysis, a new coordinated control strategy for power system transient stability control based on phase-plane trajectory was proposed. When the outputs of the wind farms change, the proposed control method is capable of selecting optimal generators to balance the deviation of wind power and prevent transient instability. With small disturbance on the base operating point, the coordinated sensitivity of each synchronous generator is obtained. Then the priority matrix can be formed by sorting the coordinated sensitivity in ascending order. Based on the real-time output change of wind farm, coordinated generators can be selected to accomplish the coordinated control with wind farms. The results in New England 10-genrator 39-bus system validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed coordinated control strategy.
Nuclear data (ND) sensitivity and uncertainty (S/U) quantification in shielding applications is performed using deterministic and probabilistic approaches. In this paper the validation of the newly developed deterministic program package ASUSD (ADVANTG + SUSD3D) is presented. ASUSD was developed with the aim of automating the process of ND S/U while retaining the computational efficiency of the deterministic approach to ND S/U analysis. The paper includes a detailed description of each of the programs contained within ASUSD, the computational workflow and validation results. ASUSD was validated on two shielding benchmark experiments from the Shielding Integral Benchmark Archive and Database (SINBAD) - the fission relevant ASPIS Iron 88 experiment and the fusion relevant Frascati Neutron Generator (FNG) Helium Cooled Pebble Bed (HCPB) Test Blanket Module (TBM) mock-up experiment. The validation process was performed in two stages. Firstly, the Denovo discrete ordinates transport solver was validated as a standalone solver. Secondly, the ASUSD program package as a whole was validated as a ND S/U analysis tool. Both stages of the validation process yielded excellent results, with a maximum difference of 17% in final uncertainties due to ND between ASUSD and the stochastic ND S/U approach. Based on these results, ASUSD has proven to be a user friendly and computationally efficient tool for deterministic ND S/U analysis of shielding geometries.
The effect of controllers-Exciter, Power System Stabilizer, and Static Var Compensator-in one machine infinite bus system is investigated in this paper. The structure of generator state matrix with controllers is represented, while the Static Var Compensator is installed in generator terminal bus. Eigen-value analysis is performed and the effects of controllers to the dominant eigenvalue in one machine infinite bus system are represented by first order eigenvalue sensitivity coefficients while the operating conditions of the system are varied. Optimization of controller parameters using first order eigenvalue sensitivity coefficients is performed by the Simplex Method. It is proved that exciter control is the most efficient method to improve stability of the system and the effect of Static Var Compensator is small, in the case of one machine infinite bus system.

We developed internal and external type sensor to measure ultra-high frequency (UHF) partial discharge (PD) in 170 kV gas-insulated switchgears (GIS). We also manufactured a PD-generator to verify and measure the detection sensitivity of those sensors. We measured the output power of the UHF PD sensors induced by PDs of 5 pC using the PD-generator. We measured UHF propagation loss of an 170 kV GIS for optimal arrangement of the sensors. We used swept UHF signal from a network analyzer into the GIS to measure the loss of various components of the GIS.
This paper discribes an improved technique for locating partial discharge sites within operating transformers by ultrasonic method which utilizes the different travel times of the electrical and ultrasonic signals produced by partial discharges to determine the location of the sources. The technique was to develope the measurement system based on the enhancement of the acoustic emission signals using signal square, circuit to improve the detectable sensitivity and reliability. Also an ultrasonic pulse generator was designed and made to transmit periodically pulses equivalent to pratial discharges and to check the good performance of the system, echo effects and self-diagnosis. Through the laboratory work, it was confirmed that the system and the generator can be used satisfactorily for diagnosing power transformers and for studying echo effects and self-diagnosis of the system.

A temperature-compensated hygrometer has been developed using resistive humidity sensors. It consist of a sine wave generator, logarithm converters, rectifiers, and amplifiers. The hygrometer accomplishes the linearization and temperature compensation of sensor characteristics. The theory of operation is presented and experimental results are used to verify theoretical predictions. The experimental results show that the conversion sensitivity of the hygrometer is about 24.8 mV/%RH and the linearity error of the conversion characteristic is less than 17.2 % over a relative humidity range from 30 to 80 %RH. The results also show that the temperature coefficient of the output voltage is less than $10149ppm/^{\circ}C$ over a temperature range from 22 to $40^{\circ}C$.

This study investigated the structure of an 8-pole 8-slot linear generator, which acts as an electromagnetic damper by combining the structure of an electromagnetic suspension device capable of generating electrical energy through energy harvesting by absorbing the vibration energy from the road surface while driving. To compare the energy harvesting effect of the electromagnetic suspension according to the actual road surface, a driving road test was simulated for two actual road conditions, an asphalt road surface and unpacked road surface condition, using a civilian combined vehicle model in conjunction with a vehicle simulation program, Carsim and Simulink. As a result, the relative displacements of the suspensions on the asphalt road surface and the unpaved road were 8 mm and 13 mm, respectively. By applying the suspension displacement value derived by modeling the linear generator coupled to the electromagnetic suspension, the simulation was then performed for an analysis time of 0.3s by applying the same analytical conditions using the commercial electromagnetic analysis program, ANSYS MAXWELL, The average power generation on the unpacked roads and asphalt roads was 198.6W and 98.7W respectively, which was 103.7% higher for unpackaged roads. Finally, to compare the sensitivity of the road surface frequency and the suspension input displacement to the power generation output, the sensitivity of the two variables was 1.725 and 1.283, respectively, and the road surface frequency had a 34.5% higher effect on the average power generation.

In this study, the characteristics of the heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop were numerically analyzed according to the axis ratio (AR), pitch, location of vortex generator, and bump phase of the tube surface about an elliptical fin-tube heat exchanger. The boundary condition for CFD analysis was decided as a tube surface temperature of 348 K and inlet air velocity of 1-5 m/s. RSM 7th turbulent model was chosen as the numerical analysis for the sensitivity level. The analysis results indicated that the AR and transverse pitch decreased whereas the heat transfer coefficient increased. On the other hand, there was little difference in the longitudinal pitch. Furthermore, the heat transfer rate was more favorable when the vortex generator was located in front of the tube. Also, the bump phase of the tube surface indicated that the pressure drop and heat transfer were more favorable with the circle type than with the serrated type.

The UWB receiver is designed to OOK(On-Off Keying) modulation for energy detection. The UWB pulse generator is designed by digital logic. And the Gaussian filter is adopted to reject side lobe in transmitter. The measured sensitivity of the receiver is -65 dBm at 4 GHz with 1 Mbps PRF(Pulse Repetition Frequency). And the measured energy efficiency per pulse is 20.6 pJ/bit. The current consumption of the receiver and transmitter including DA is 27.5 mA and 25.5 mA, respectively, at 1.8 V supply.
