  • The static electricity generated by friction of two objects is called frictional electricity. The main cause of troubles in electronic components for military and civil use as well as in military radar appliances is found mostly in parts like LSI memories, particularly when they lose information of function momentarily while in operation, which usually leads to a fatal cause of troubles in the equipment. Troubles occur if electric noise is caused by the spark effected from discharge of static electricity from the equipment that is used nearby.

  • In the present study, fuel cell driven ground source heat pump system is applied to a large community building and performance of the heat pump system is computationally analyzed. Conduction heat transfer between brine pipe and ground is analyzed by TEACH code to predict the performance of heat pump system. Predicted COP of the heat pump system and the energy cost were compared with variation of the location of the objective building the water saturation rate of soil and the driven powers of heat pump system. Significant reduction of energy cost can be accomplished by employing the fuel cell driven heat pump system in comparison with the late-night electricity driven system. It is due to the low electricity production cost of fuel cell system and the application of recovered waste heat generated during electricity production process to the heating of large community building.

  • Rapid economic growth in recent years has caused a surge in energy consumption among Southeast Asian countries and laid a considerable burden on the already inadequate power infrastructure. As a result, frequent blackouts and prolonged outages have become common and weakened firm productive performance in those years. The main objective of this study is to examine the impact of power infrastructure quality on the performance of Southeast Asian manufacturing firms. In this study, the World Bank Enterprise Surveys was employed as the training dataset of 4723 manufacturing firms in the period of 2015-2016. The results of this study reveal that industrial firms that suffered from power outages had consistently lower productivity. As measured by the length of such events, more severe outages tend to be more harmful to the firm. Furthermore, the findings also indicated that most firms relied on self-generated electricity to reduce the negative impact of power outages, but this does not bring many benefits when operating at a small scale in some countries. Consequently, this study contributes to a growing literature that examines the economic impact of public infrastructure and how detrimental the poor state of such services is to a firm's downstream operations, productivity, and growth.

  • In this paper, a Goertzel-based algorithm was proposed to calculate the amount of power by estimating the harmonic components generated during charging of the electric vehicle up to a very high order, allowing it to be applied to a low-cos electricity meter with low computing power. Using the proposed algorithm, it is verified through simulation for a simple example signal that even large-order harmonics can be sufficiently considered when wattage is measured.

  • Photovoltaic systems are progressively attached importance and their installed capacity increases day by day because of their reliability, decremented installation and operating cost and simple construction structure. Generated power obtained from a photovoltaic system changes depending upon regional distinctness, and It can be estimated approximately by taking into consideration mean global radiation amount, temperature and humidity. However, there may be different regional negative or positive factors like dust, air pollution, desert powder which affect generated power. The best reliable data for a region can be obtained from the existing photovoltaic system in the region. For this purpose, a monitoring system for 1000W monocrystalline photovoltaic system constructed at Kocaeli University Uzunciftlik Nuh Cimento Vocational High Scholl is prepared. The installed monitoring system shows and records real values generated from the photovoltaic system and environmental data. In the study, Instantaneous data obtained from the monitoring system for October 2018 and 7th October 2018 is given within figures. Additionally, daily and monthly total energy productions of the photovoltaic system are given for October 2018 and date interval between July 2018 and March 2018, respectively.

  • Non-wovens polyester rayon samples were manufactured, and the electrification properties of electrostatics were measured for three different samples (15 g/$m^2$, 25 g/$m^2$, and 40 g/$m^2$) with the environmental settings of temperature (20~40$^{\circ}C$) and humidity (40~90%). The conclusions are as follows. Heavy sample generated more static electricity when the temperature was constant. The static electricity decreased slowly when the humidity is less than 70%, while it sharply decreased over 70% humidity condition. For non-woven polyester rayon, static charge decreased as temperature and humidity increased. As the weight increased, less time were taken for the electrification voltage to drop to the half.

  • This study presents a bio-chemical energy harvesting system which can generate electric power from bioorganic substance contained in vermicompost. It produced electricity by inoculating microbial fuel cell(MFC) with earthworm-composted food waste. The generated electricity was converted into usable voltage level for mobile electronics through power conditioning circuits. The implemented prototype showed $200{\mu}W$ of maximum output electric power, which successfully supplied a beacon device which continuously transmitted data to nearby smartphone without a battery. The proposed system can help develop portable or bio-mimetic energy supply for sustainable use with further improvement.

  • In this paper, multiple offshore wave energy converters with different output characteristics are connected to one power distribution substation. The connection between the power take-off of the different wave energy converters and the electrical power transmission system is presented in order to investigate whether multiple wave energy converters can augment energy yield and improve network integration capabilities. Moreover, the model of an array of wave energy converters is developed with the goal of analyzing the effects of the offshore wave farm on the electrical network to which it is connected. It is also developed to ensure that the electricity generated by the array is sufficiently controllable, and of a quality that can be integrate into the electricity supply network without unduly increasing the cost of connection, production or delivery.

  • The effects of applying the micro CHP system to the domestic sector in Korea were investigated using annual cooling and heating demand data. Four prime movers, micro gas turbine, PEMFC, gas engine and Stirling engine, were compared for three operational modes. Two way buy-back was assumed for both electricity and heat. The Stirling engine gave the lowest $CO_2$ emission per energy for 300kWh monthly electricity production. However, PEMFC became more effective when considering PURPA criteria. PEMFC generated the least greenhouse gas with higher electrical efficiency for cooling. The Stirling engine, however, became competitive for heating with higher total efficiency.
