  • Client based web mashups have become one of the most important architecture in web application development. Although there are well known methods to generate presentation view codes for web services, navigations between views and service requests are still developed manually in most web mashups. In this paper, we propose the concept of deterministic data binding from output data to input parameters of another method. Using binding relations, we can model navigation menus for service method requests. For a given set of data mappings between services, we investigate context dependent binding conditions and discuss the generation of views and navigation menus. The proposed approach provides UI for users to navigate services of client mashup page using simple and convenient interface even when the number of services and the size of the mashup page grows. In order to show the usability of the proposed approach, we present a historic tourism service.

  • A recent air defense missile system is required to have a capability to intercept short-range super-high speed targets such as tactical ballistic missile(TBMs) by performing engagement control efficiently. Since flight time and distance of TBM are very short, the missile defense system should be ready to engage a TBM as soon as it takes an indication of the TBM launch. As a result, it has to predict TBM trajectory accurately with cueing information received from an early warning system, and designate search direction and volume for own radar to detect/track TBM as fast as it can, and also generate necessary engagement information. In addition, it is needed to engage TBM accurately via transmitting tracked TBM position and velocity data to the corresponding intercept missiles. In this paper, we proposed a method to estimate TBM trajectory based on the Kepler's law for the missile system to detect and track TBM using the cueing information received before the TBM arrives the apogee of the ballistic trajectory, and analyzed the bias of prediction error in terms of the transmission period of cueing data between the missile system and the early warning system.

  • Currently, increase of greenhouse gas has had a signigicant impact on climate change in urbanization. As a result, the government has been looking for ways to take advantage of the trees that generate oxygen and reduce carbon dioxide for the prevention of climate change. It is essential to extract individual tree for calculating the amount of carbon dioxide reduction of trees. Aerial LIDAR data have three-dimensional information of building as well as trees as form of point clouds. In this study, automated model was developed to extract individual tree using aerial LIDAR data. For this purpose, we established a methodology for extracting trees and then proceeded the process of developing it as an automated model based on model builder of ArcGIS Software. In order to evaluate the applicability of the developed model, the model was compared with commercial software in study area located in Yongin City. Through the experimental result, the proposed model was extract trees 9.91% higher than commercial software. From this results, it was found that the model effectively extracted trees.

  • This study was conducted to develop the NutriSonic Web Expert System for Meal Management and Nutrition Counseling with Analysis of User's Nutritive Changes of selected days and food exchange information with easy data transition. This program manipulates a food, menu and meal and search database that has been developed. Also, the system provides a function to check the user's nutritive change of selected days. Users can select a recommended general and therapeutic menu using this system. NutriSonic can analyze nutrients and e-food exchange ("e" means the food exchange data base calculated by a computer program) in menus and meals. The expert can insert and store a meal database and generate the synthetic information of age, sex and therapeutic purpose of disease. With investigation and analysis of the user's needs, the meal planning program on the internet has been continuously developed. Users are able to follow up their nutritive changes with nutrient information and ratio of 3 major energy nutrients. Also, users can download another data format like Excel files (.xls) for analysis and verify their nutrient time-series analysis. The results of analysis are presented quickly and accurately. Therefore it can be used by not only usual people, but also by dietitians and nutritionists who take charge of making a menu and experts in the field of food and nutrition. It is expected that the NutriSonic Web Expert System can be useful for nutrition education, nutrition counseling and expert meal management.

  • In order to acquire the precise and fast response for an analytical query, proper selection of the views to materialize in data warehouse is very crucial. In traditional algorithms, the whole relation is considered to be selected as materialized views. However, materializing the whole relation rather than a part of relation results in much worse performance in terms of time and space cost. Therefore, we present a new algorithm for selection of views to materialize using clustering method in order to improve the performance of data warehouse including this problem. In the presented algorithm, ASVMR(Algorithm for Selection of Views to Materialize using Reduced table), we first generate reduced tables in data warehouse using automatic clustering based on attribute-values density, then we consider the combination of reduced tables as materialized views instead of the combination of the original base relations. We also show the experimental results in which both time and space cost are approximately 1.8 times better than the conventional algorithms.

  • The first Korean remote sensing satellite, Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT-1), is going to be launched in 1999. This will carry a 7m resolution Electro-Optical Camera (EOC) for earth observation. The primary mission of the KOMPSAT-1 is to acquire stereo imagery over the Korean peninsular for the generation of 1:25,000 scale cartographic maps. For this mission, research is being carried out to assess the possibilities of automated or semi-automated mapping of EOC data and to develop, if necessary, such enabling tools. This paper discusses the issue of automated digital elevation model (DEM) generation from EOC data and identifies some important aspects in developing a DEM generation system from EOC data. This paper also presents the current status of the development work for such a system. The development work will be described in three pares of sensor modelling, stereo matching and DEM interpolation. The performance of the system is shown with a SPOT stereo pair. A DEM generated from commercial software is also presented for comparison. The proposed system seems to generate promising results.

  • Even though a systematic sampling approach is very crucial in both the general and detailed investigation phases to produce the best conceptual site model for contaminated sites, the concept is not yet established in South Korea. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the 'Strategic Sampling Approaches Technical guide' in 2018 to help environmental professionals choose which sampling approaches may be needed and most effective for given site conditions. The EPA guide broadly defines strategic sampling as the application of focused data collection across targeted areas of the conceptual site model (CSM) to provide the appropriate amount and type of information needed for decision-making. These strategic sampling approaches can prevent the essential data from missing, minimize the uncertainty of projects and secure the data which are necessary for the important site-decisions. Furthermore, these provide collaborative data sets through the life cycle phases of projects, which can generate more positive proofs on the site-decisions. The strategic sampling approaches can be divided by site conditions. This technical guide categorized it into eight conditions; High-resolution site characterization in unconsolidated environments, High-resolution site characterization in fractured sedimentary rock environments, Incremental sampling, Contaminant source definition, Passive groundwater sampling, Passive sampling for surface water and sediment, Groundwater to surface water interaction, and Vapor intrusion. This commentary paper introduces specific sampling methods based on site conditions when the strategic sampling approaches are applied.

  • The development and demand for the system that provides users with traffic information and efficient road use have continued. also, this system provides the basic technology of the Intelligent Transport System (ITS). The most used traffic information collection tools are Vehicle detectors (VDS) and short-range wireless communication (DSRC) on express way. In order to generate reliable traffic information, it is necessary to efficiently manage and utilize the collected data as well as high-quality traffic data collection and processing technology. In this study, traffic information collection·processing·provision systems were investigated, and analyze the current status and problems of traffic information collected through VDS. Based on this, we would like to present an improved collection algorithm that utilizes the Kalman filter for vehicle information measurement of VDS data. By using the algorithm of this study, it is possible to minimize the time delay of the estimated value as well as the noise removal that inevitably occurs during measurement.

  • Recently, a method of finding the attention area or localization area for an object of an image using CAM (Class Activation Map)[1] has been variously carried out as a study of WSOL (Weakly Supervised Object Localization). The attention area extraction from the object heat map using CAM has a disadvantage in that it cannot find the entire area of the object by focusing mainly on the part where the features are most concentrated in the object. To improve this, using CAM and Selective Search[6] together, we first expand the attention area in the heat map, and a Gaussian smoothing is applied to the extended area to generate retraining data. Finally we train the data to expand the attention area of the objects. The proposed method requires retraining only once, and the search time to find an localization area is greatly reduced since the selective search is not needed in this stage. Through the experiment, the attention area was expanded from the existing CAM heat maps, and in the calculation of IOU (Intersection of Union) with the ground truth for the bounding box of the expanded attention area, about 58% was improved compared to the existing CAM.

  • Graph databases have been developed to efficiently store and query graph data composed of vertices and edges to express relationships between objects. Since the query types of graph database show very different characteristics from traditional NoSQL databases, benchmarking tools suitable for graph databases to verify the performance of the graph database are needed. In this paper, we propose an efficient graph database benchmarking system that supports diversity in graph inputs and queries. The proposed system utilizes OrientDB to conduct benchmarking for graph databases. In order to support the diversity of input graphs and query graphs, we use LDBC that is an existing graph data generation tool. We demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed scheme through analysis of benchmarking results. As a result of performance evaluation, it has been shown that the proposed system can generate customizable synthetic graph data, and benchmarking can be performed based on the generated graph data.
