  • This paper presents a kinematic ephemeris generator for Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO) and its performance test results. The kinematic ephemeris generator consists of a ground ephemeris compressor and an onboard ephemeris calculator. The ground ephemeris compressor has to compress desired orbit propagation data by using an interpolation method in a ground system. The onboard ephemeris calculator can generate spacecraft ephemeris and the Sun/Moon ephemeris in onboard computer of the KPLO. Among many interpolation methods, polynomial interpolation with uniform node, Chebyshev interpolation, Hermite interpolation are tested for their performances. As a result of the test, it is shown that all the methods have some cases that meet requirements but there are some performance differences. It is also confirmed that, the Chebyshev interpolation shows better performance than other methods for spacecraft ephemeris generation, and the polynomial interpolation with uniform nodes yields good performance for the Sun/Moon ephemeris generation. Based on these results, a Kinematic ephemeris generator is developed for the KPLO mission. Then, the developed ephemeris generator can find an approximating function using interpolation method considering the size and accuracy of the data to be transmitted.

  • The equipment of SCARA robot in processing and assembly lines has rapidly increased. In order to achieve high productivity and flexibility, it becomes very important to develop the visual feedback control system with Off-Line Programming System(OLPS). We can save much efforts and time in adjusting robots to newly defined workcells by using OLPS. A proposed visual calibration scheme is based on position-based visual feedback. The calibration program firstly generates predicted images of objects in an assumed end-effector position. The process to generate predicted images consists of projection to screen-coordinates, visible range test, and construction of simple silhouette figures. Then, camera images acquired are compared with predicted ones for updating position and orientation data. Computation of error is very simple because the scheme is based on perspective projection, which can be also expanded to experimental results. Computation time can be extremely reduced because the proposed method does not requirethe precise calculation of tree-dimensional object data and image Jacobian.

  • Detection of spectral bio-signatures from extra terrestrial planets has received an increasing attention from the astronomy and space science communities in recent years. In an attempt to better-understand disk averaged spectra of the only know terrestrial planet i.e. Earth, we are constructing a scale-able 3D earth model with surface reflectance and scattering properties. The USGS coastal line data were used to form coastal line segments and they were then stitched to generate continuous coastal lines to represent major continents and large islands. As the first stage of model verification, wavelength dependent ocean and land reflectance data and scattering characteristics were defined over the land and sea surfaces respectively. We then performed ray tracing based imaging and radiometric transfer simulations using a hypothetical optical payload receiving the reflected and scattered sun lights from the earth. The model concept, computational details, the simulation results are discussed as well as the future development plan.

  • Fog computing is another paradigm of the cloud computing, which extends the ubiquitous services to applications on many connected devices in the IoT (Internet of Things). In general, if we access a lot of IoT devices with existing cloud, we waste a huge amount of bandwidth and work efficiency becomes low. So we apply the paradigm called fog between IoT devices and cloud. The network architecture based on cloud and fog computing discloses the security and privacy issues according to mixed paradigm. There are so many security issues in many aspects. Moreover many IoT devices are connected at fog and they generate much data, therefore light and efficient security mechanism is needed. For example, with inappropriate encryption or authentication algorithm, it causes a huge bandwidth loss. In this paper, we consider issues related with data encryption and authentication mechanism in the network architecture for cloud and fog-based M2M (Machine to Machine) IoT services. This includes trusted encryption and authentication algorithm, and key generation method. The contribution of this paper is to provide efficient security mechanisms for the proposed service architecture. We implemented the envisaged conceptual security check mechanisms and verified their performance.

  • This study aims to evaluate and prioritize ten different sites in Iran's Khorasan provinces for the construction of wind farm. After studying the geography of the sites, nine criteria; including wind power, topography, wind direction, population, distance from power grid, level of air pollution, land cost per square meter, rate of natural disasters, and distance from road network-are selected for the analysis. Prioritization is performed using data envelopment analysis (DEA). The developed DEA model is validated through value engineering based on the results of brainstorming sessions. The results show that the order of priority of ten assessed candidate sites for installing wind turbines is Khaf, Afriz, Ghadamgah, Fadashk, Sarakhs, Bojnoord, Nehbandan, Esfarayen, Davarzan, and Roudab. Additionally, the outcomes extracted from the value engineering method identify the city of Khaf as the best candidate site. Six different wind turbines (7.5 to 5,000 kW) are considered in this location to generate electricity. Regarding an approach to produce and store hydrogen from wind farm installed in the location, the AREVA M5000 wind turbine can produce approximately $337ton-H_2$ over a year. It is an enormous amount that can be used in transportation and other industries.

  • Background: Shammah is a traditional form of chewing tobacco [smokeless tobacco, (ST)] that is commonly used in the Middle East especially in Saudi Arabia (KSA), Yemen and Sudan. The Substance Abuse Research Centre (SARC) at Jazan University noted that no adequate research and information on the prevalence of shammah use in the province of Jazan, and KSA as well, has been provided in the scientific literature. Materials and Methods: An intensive systematic review of online databases was performed, including AMED (The Allied and Complementary Medicine Database), Biological Abstracts, Cochrane Collection Plus, Dentistry and Oral Sciences Source, E-Journals Database, EBSCO Discovery Service, MEDLINE, PEMSoft, PEP Archive, PsycARTICLES, scopus, Sciencedirect and Google Scholar. Results: Shammah is a mixture of powdered tobacco, lime, ash, black pepper, oils and flavorings. ST in KSA is placed in the buccal or lower labial vestibule of the mouth. The user (or dipper) spits out insoluble debris. The importation of ST products is prohibited in KSA. Accessible information on legislative action to control the use of ST in KSA appeared in 1990. The actual percentage use may be higher, than reported since shammah is illegal in KSA and there may be some reluctance to admit to its use. Conclusions: This review paper is an initial step in a funded research project by SARC to understand the pattern of use of shammah and provide adequate epidemiological data. One goal of this review is to generate further data for public health education.

  • The purpose of the synthetic generation of monthly river flows based on the short term observed data by means of stochastic models is to provide abundant input data to the water resources systems of which the system performance and operation policy are to be determined beforehand. In this study, a multivariate autoregressive model has been applied to generate monthly flows of the multi sites considering the correlations between each site. The model performance was examined using statistical comparisons between the historical and generated monthly series such as mean, variance, skewness and correlation coefficients. The results of this study showed that the modeled generated flows were statistically similar to the historical flows.

  • Purpose: This study aims to examine such relationships as the experiential value that customers respond to with regard to maintenance service by empirically revealing how the quality of auto maintenance and repair service affects both customer satisfaction and intention to reuse the same service through the Perceived-experiential Value of customers. Research design, data and methodology: The research model was designed with service qualities such as human quality, material quality, interaction quality, and system quality as independent variables, perceived-experiential value as a parameter, and service satisfaction and return visit intention as dependent variables. Through a questionnaire composed of 24 items, a total of 319 survey data from customers with the experience of using car maintenance service centers in Korea were collected and analyzed using a structural equation. Results: The material quality did not affect the customers' perceived-experiential value, whereas the interaction quality had the greatest influence. It is confirmed that human quality, interaction quality, and system quality can generate customer satisfaction and repurchase intention through the perceived-experiential value. Conclusions: The experiential value of customers can play an important medium role in improving satisfaction, with customers considering interaction quality important. Therefore, the auto maintenance and repair service should consider relationship-focused service strategies.

  • Due to rapid increase in number of Internet users, the volume of domestic Internet shopping is expanding dramatically. Although the Internet shopping mall business is steadily growing, it has structural weakness, and in general, the business does not generate profit. In this context, this research identifies characteristics of the Internet shopping non-adopters, and suggests strategies to strengthen competitiveness of domestic Internet shopping malls and to create a new demand. Analysis of MCR data in 2007 showed that out of 4,298 respondents, 2,206 people adopted Internet shopping (51.3%). and 2,092 did not (48.7%). The survey measured 28 items regarding a consumption pattern and a lifestyle of the Internet users, and the analysis result showed that the pattern can be categorized in seven groups. Based on the analysis, the research suggests that the domestic Internet shopping malls adopt strategies to increase consumers' access frequency to tile Internet service, provide high-end goods, diversify transaction methods, make online shopping more convenient, cater to diversified consumer demands based on demographic data, provide price comparison more Internet shopping mails, and provide sufficient and useful information to consumers.

  • A fishing simulator for towed fishing gear was investigated in order to mimic the fish behavior in capture process and investigate fishing selectivity. A fish behavior model using a psycho-hydraulic wheel activated by stimuli is established to introduce Lorenz chaos equations and a neural network system and to generate the components of realistic fish capture processes. The fish positions within the specified gear geometry are calculated from normalized intensities of the stimuli of the fishing gear components or neighboring fish and then these are related to the sensitivities and the abilities of the fish. This study is applied to four different towed gears i.e. a bottom trawl, a midwater trawl, a two-boat seine, and an anchovy boat seine and for 17 fish species as mainly caught. The Alpha cluster computer system and Fortran MPI (Message-Passing Interface) parallel programming were used for rapid calculation and mass data processing in this chaotic behavior model. The results of the simulation can be represented as animation of fish movements in relation to fishing gear using Open-GL and C graphic programming and catch data as well as selectivity analysis. The results of this simulator mimicked closely the field studies of the same gears and can therefore be used in further study of fishing gear design, predicting selectivity and indoor training systems.
