  • Neuropathic shoulder arthropathy or Charcot's shoulder is an extremely rare disease, and sometimes it is associated with cervical syringomyelia. Clinical symptoms of the disease include edema of the shoulder and restriction in range of motion. Radiological diagnosis can be made through plain radiography through a characteristic, atrophic destruction of the joint. We experienced a Charcot's joint of the shoulder wherein destruction of the joint progressed extremely quickly and reviewed the literature concerning this condition.

  • Pleural effusion represents a rare complication of acute hepatitis A infection. Twelve year-old girl was admitted with complaints of general weakness, nausea and icteric sclerae. She also complained of right chest pain. Right decubitus view of chest radiograph showed pleural fluid accumulation. Laboratory findings were as follows: AST/ALT 1692/1970 IU/L, total/direct bilirubin 4.48/3.66 mg/dL and HA IgM Ab (+). On the seventh day of hospitalization, her general condition was much improved and chest radiography showed resolved pleural effusion.

  • We conserved efficiently artifacts such as Pole(Treasure No. 930)and Helmet(General of Lee, Wan:1602∼1674) which are housed in the historical department, Kyonggi-do provincial office. It were carrying out physical and chemical methods for removing corrosion products at the same time. During the treatment, the spear was proved to coat gold amalgam on the surface and the pole restored its original state as a result using X-ray fluorescence analysis and Radiography, in addition, we could find their skill and technology by examining the section painted lacquer with wooden by microscopy.

  • In Asia, mammography following the injection of foreign materials into the breasts for cosmetic augmentation is frequently seen and diagnosis based on the typical radiologic findings is straightforward. We report the unusual radiologic findings in two patients with foreign body granulomas caused by injected foreign materials and discovered incidentally during screening work up. The mammographic findings were bilateral, hyperdense, spiculated masses, with occasional microcalcification, and at sonography, markedly hypoechoic, spiculated solid masses, located near the pectoralis muscle and partly extending into it, were observed. These radiologic findings mimicked malignancy.

  • Digital imaging for general rediography has many advantages over the film/screen systems, including a wider dynamic range and the ability to manipulate the images produced. The wider range means that acceptable images may by acquired at a range of dose levels, and therefore repeat exposures can be reduced. Digital imaging can result in the over use of radiation, however, because there is a tendency can be reduced. Digital imaging can result in the over use of radiation, however, because there is a tendency for images to be acquired at too high a dose. We investigated the actual exposure dose conditions on general radiography and a questionnaire survey was conducted with radiotechnologiest at medical institutions using digital radiology system. As a results, the dose of exposure was not controlled with patient's figure and dose optimization but was controlled by worker's convenience and image quality. Radio-technologiests often set up the exposure dose regardless of patient figure and body part to be examined. Many organizations, such as the International Commission on Radiological Protection, recommend to keep the dose as low as possible. In addition, they strongly recommend to keep the optimal but minimal dosage by proper training programs and constant quality control, including frequent patient dose evaluations and education.

  • The purpose of this study is to know the exposure dose nearby table on the general radiography(skull AP, chest PA, abdomen AP, lumbar lateral, hip joint, knee joint) and to find the reducing it. We measured beside the 45cm and 75cm table center, and 70cm, 80cm, 130cm, 150cm height from the bottom. That were measured highly from the radiography of lumbar lateral, abdomen AP and hip joint as followed $66.21{\mu}Sv$, $34.22{\mu}Sv$, and $32.35{\mu}Sv$ at the 80cm height beside 45cm from the center of table. Measured doses were reduced in order of chest PA, abdomen, hipjoint, skull, knee joint projection. It appears exposure dose of nearby radiographic table was extremely low amount compared with limit of dose(1mSv). If it protected by Pb apron, exposure dose of assisting person will not be exceed a limit of dose. Conclusively, Wearing apron is very important to avoid radiation from the general radiography.

  • The frequency of fulminant peumonia due to Mycoplasma pneumoniae is relatively rare despite the high prevalence of Mycoplasma species infection in the general population. We report a case of mycoplasma pneumonia complicated with severe ARDS, overt hemolytic anemia and hepatitis. He had high titers of antimycoplasma antibody and cold agglutinin. Despite erythromycin administration, the pneumonic infiltration on chest radiography was not resolved, and mechanical ventilation was needed for 16 days. During the therapeutic course, his hemoglobin decreased. After the administration of prednisolone, his hemoglobin increased and pneumonic infiltration was totally resolved. He had a progressively favorable course and could be discharged in relatively good clinical condition.

  • Benign fibrous mesothelioma of the pleura is a relatively rare neoplasm originated from pleural mesothelial cell, often asymptomatic or presenting with a specifical sign. One of the main problems, concerns the preoperative differential diagnosis, mainly because it is difficult to differentiate between benign and malignant type. A 62-year old woman presented with recurrent chest pain. The chest radiography in a patient was suspected localized pleural mesothelioma. The chest computed tomography scan showed that mass like lesion of well marginated ovoid shape with homogenous attenuation on anterior-basal segment of right lower lobe. After resection of a pleural mass by thoracoscopic extirpation from right hemithorax, Localized benign fibrous mesothelioma of the pleura was confirmed by pathology and immunohisto-chemical staining. We report here one case of pleural benign fibrous mesothelioma with some considerations on its diagnosis and treatment.

  • Digital Radiography (DR) has improved a quality of resolution based on a wide dynamic range, high detective quantum efficiency (DQE), and modulation transfer function (MTF), compared with film/screen(F/s). Unlike expectation that a low level of radiation can be used in examination, high level of signal to noise ratio(SNR) due to over-exposure caused increase of exposed dose to patients. Also, the auto exposure control (AEC) using Kilovolage(kVp) in F/S can cause over-exposure. Hence, in this study, we proposed a proper method for using DR, in which effect of tubing Kilovolage on device's image, DR MTF measurement with changes of tubing current (mA), and the quantitative evaluation of skull phantom captured images' PSNR were evaluated. Changes of contrast with tubing Kilovolage can be improved by retouching, and MTF changes according to tubing current(1.41~1.39 lp/mm in 50% area, and 3.19~2.8 lp/mm in 10% area) does not influence on resolution of image. As a result, high tubing Kilovoltage, and tubing current will be suitable to use of DR.
