The purpose of this paper is to deeply understand the transitional concept of gender expressed in the later 20th century fashion through analyzing of various literature. Gender is constructed in the context of social and culture different than sex which is inherent difference between man and women. Thus the concept of gender can be changed according to change of social and culture. There are imposing changes in gender since 60's owing to various factors; namely, feminism, subculture, deconstruction, development of technology, market economy, changing sex roles, etc. Especially in the 60's to 70's, as radical changes were took place, gender became vague more and more. Finally these days there is no fixed gender. In terms of meaning, there may be a number of genders-since there are as many meanings of sex as there are people who have thought about it. That is, sex is, gender means. Sex exists in itself, and is sublimely indifferent to what humans think of it, However gender is all the meanings we assign to sex. In accordance with this phenomena, people don't mind their sexes with appearance. There is only different disposition and taste.

A 3D body scan measurement (SM) is used as an alternative to physical measurements (PM) as the information for designing industrial products. This study compared the mean difference (MD) between SM and PM by gender and analyzed the causes of the difference. The data used in this study were the scan measurements and physical measurements of adults aged twenty to seventy years old of the fifth Size Korea survey. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The comparison of MD between men and women for all subjects: The measurement of the significant differences between men and women were height, neck base girth, chest girth, under-bust girth, waist girth, armscye girth, back length, and foot length. The causes of difference are the difference of body shape. 2. The comparison of MD between men and women by BMI groups: Many measurements had significant differences between men and women at normal weight and overweight but underweight. Some measurements had significant differences only at a specific BMI group because the body shape difference between men and women is revealed clearly in the group. The comparison of MD between men and women by age groups: The measurements that show significant difference at more than four age groups were neck girth, chest girth, under-bust girth, waist girth, armscye girth, and foot length. The height and abdomen girth had a significant difference in the age range of 20's and 30's. There were measurements that increase MD with an increase in age; under-bust girth and lateral shoulder length for women and lateral shoulder length for men. This comparison of MD between men and women provide the correct guidelines for the use of SM.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of gender and load carriage difference on the lower extremity kinetics during stair descent. Ten healthy males and 10 healthy females were recruited (n=20). In the Maximum resultant velocity, it showed more velocity was decreased with difference by the change of gender (males>females) and load carriage (30%, 20%, 10%> 10%). And, resultant velocity showed interaction between gender and a load (load>gender). Main effect by gender during stair descent showed leg length was decreased in females than that of males at initial contact phase. Also, main effect by gender during stair descent showed more hip, knee flexed and plantar flexion of ankle joint in females than that of males. In the kinetics variables, main effect by gender during stair descent showed more higher reaction force of medial-lateral direction, and leg stiffness in males than that of females. We found that females successfully accommodated a load during stair descent by decreasing the range of motion of the hip joint angle and resultant velocity of movement. Males, on the other hand, require greater medial-lateral, vertical reaction force, and leg stiffness to accommodate a load, and control of momentum.
Numerous foreign studies document perceived difference of the public toward male and female doctors, but little is known about the way Korean college students view the gender of the doctors. This study investigates whether or not college students evaluate the technical and socio-psychological skills differently depending on the gender of the doctors. This study also tests the association between the gender of respondents and the gender of doctors of their choice for several types of diseases. The 440 college students at one campus were selected using systematic stratified random sampling technique and were interviewed by questionnaire survey. Findings indicate that while the scores of technical skills are in favor of male doctors, the scores of socio-psychological skills are favorable to female doctors. We also find that there Is a statistically significant relationship between the gender of respondents and the gender of doctors of their choice.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the gender differences in conversational styles of students. This research based on Quantitative survey and qualitative observation. The quantitative data were collected by questionnaire from 708 respondents who were college students and resided in Sunchon. Statistical methods for the data analysis were frequencies, t-test. The cases of observation were 21. As a result, gender differences were founded in lots of conversational styles. Women showed more tendencies than men In communi-cations to listen, to make relationships, to take care of others, to express intimacy and to make private conversation. Men tended to dominate others, to show off capacities and to make public conversation. This gender differences in conversational styles were related to sex role and major studies. From this results it was proposed that education on gender differences in conversational styles should be developed for students to improve their communication skills and to adapt their changing sex role.
Design characteristics of the space depends on the type of design. This study organized gender perceptual characteristics from terminology that is used in the process of obtaining information about corresponding space intended to represent design types and the images which were selected by design experts. The results from the study are concluded as in the followings: First: in the Modern type, the males show "the somewhat high difference of the images" from formality and decoration. Also, the study shows that males perceive very high in "the very high difference of the images" from spatiality, formality, and decoration. Second: in case of modern and minimal types, females perceive the spatiality and the males perceive formality and decoration. This study shows that modern type contains a lot of adjective, which means the man overwhelmingly perceives than the woman perceives in the decoration of modern type. Third: while males in modern and minimal types perceive formality and decoration greatly, they perceive spatiality greatly in natural types. In contrast, females in modern and minimal types perceive spatiality greatly, but perceive decoration slightly larger in natural types. These results tell us that the gender can appear differently depending on which types. This study analyzed gender perception characteristics to the design types, which were selected by a group of design experts. The difference between the types of design occurs in the differences of space sense and image by gender. Through analyzing the differences of spatial types, it is clear that different genders perceive different characteristics.

This study was conducted via survey of 300 enrolled male and female high school students in the Chungnam area. The survey focused on students' dietary habits, changes in dietary habits based on the school lunch menu, and satisfaction of school lunches, in order to identify new methods for changing dietary habits and improving satisfaction of school lunches. Regarding the general characteristics of those surveyed, most were 17 years old, and of the same gender. Ninety-nine percent of those surveyed lived in farming areas, and the majority of students' parents graduated from high school and are self-employed. Research on dietary habits according to gender found that male students ate more regularly than did female students, with a difference of (p<0.001) between the two genders. Regarding the degree of which students ate only what they want, differences of (p<0.05) were found between the genders. The types of snacks frequently consumed were found to be flour-based snacks for the male students, whereas the females mostly consumed sweet foods and bread snacks. Research on satisfaction of school lunches according to gender also showed a difference of (p<0.5). Specifically, 48.7% of male students responded 'average', whereas only 45.3% of female students responded in the same way. The reason for dissatisfaction of school lunches were quality and nutrition for the male students (30%) and taste for the female students (60.4%), with a significant difference according to gender (p<0.05). Regarding the types of food most left over, both female and male students answered fish, bean curd, and soy products.
This study examines links between Korean adolescents' uses of games and their school lives. A gender-based analysis was conducted and moderating effects of social relationship variables were tested. The major findings are as follows. First, some gender differences were found in impacts of game use. For example, although a game addiction variable appeared to influence both male and female adolescents negatively on the school-related conscientiousness, only male students displayed a negative impact of game time. It represents a gender difference in the preferred game genres and ways of using them. Second, the analysis showed that variables of social relationship could moderate the negative effects of game use. While the relationship with father appeared to moderate the negative effects of game time in male adolescents, the relationship with mother turned out to relieve the negative impacts of game addiction in female ones. In the case of male adolescents, however, the relationship with the parents did not show any moderating effect on game addiction. This study supports the claim that it is necessary to take a gendered approach in studying gaming.
The purposes of this study is to analyze gender difference in predictors of mobile phone dependency in youth. The analysis is performed with third-year panel survey data of middle school 1st grade students from Korean Child-Youth Panel Survey. The results are as follows. First, the female students' mobile phone dependency is more serious than the male students' mobile phone dependency. Second, while the identified male gender predictors are aggression, parental abuse, aprosexia, study activity and social withdrawal, the identified female gender predictors are depression, aprosexia, aggression, study activity and social withdrawal. Based on these results, theoretical and practical implications in planning of prevention or intervention of mobile phone dependency are proposed.
The purpose of this study is to investigate factors affecting Korean Baby Boomers' life satisfaction. Using data from Demographic Profiles and Welfare Needs of Middle Aged Persons(2010), this study focuses on whether there is a gender difference in predictors of life satisfaction. Analysis results show that there is a significant variability in predictors of life satisfaction by gender. Couple satisfaction, self-rated health status, and expectations for the standard of living after 10 years were significant for both male and female models. It was noticeable to report that internet use level and monthly household income were unique predictors for male model; spouse parent care burden and parent-child satisfaction were unique predictors for female model. These findings suggest that it is vital for policy planners to take gender differences into account when designing and formulating public policies for Korean Baby Boomer.
