  • Dynamic interaction analysis of surface structure on layered half-space is performed in frequency domain under incident wave excitation. This present study adopts a coupling method that combines the finite element(FE) for the flexible structures and boundary element(BE) for the layered half-space. A semi-analytical approach is employed to reduce the integration range of wavenumbers in the BE formula. For the incident wave input, the response is decomposed and formulated after the impedance matrix for the structure system. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the accuracy of the method. The examples show the feasibility of an extended application to the complicated dynamic analysis of structures on layered media under incident wave excitation.

등온 열처리시 알루미늄 다층 박막의 열적 안정성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Thermal Stability in Multi-Aluminum Thin Films during Isothermal Annealing)

  • Multi-level thin films are very important in ULSI applications because of their high electromigration resistance. This study presents the effects of titanium, titanium nitride and titanium tungsten underlayers of the stability of multi-aluminum thin films during isothermal annealing. High purity Al(99.999%) films have been electron-beam evaporated on Ti, TiN, TiW films formed on SiO2/Si (P-type(100))-wafer substrates by RF-sputtering in Ar gas ambient. The hillock growth was increased with annealing temperatures. Growth of hillocks was observed during isothermal annealing of the thin films by scanning electron microscopy. The hillock growth was believed to appear due to the recrystallization process driven by stress relaxation during isothermal annealing. Thermomigration damage was also presented in thin films by grain boundary grooving processes. It is shown that underlayers of Al/TiN/SiO2, Al/TiW/SiO2 thin films are preferrable to Al/SiO2 thin film metallization.

공기를 함유한 프레온 증기의 수평관 외부에서의 막응축 (Filmwise Condensation of Freon Vapor Including Air on a Horizontal Tube)

  • A theoretical model for film condensation of a vapor including a relatively lighter noncondensable gas on a horizontal tube has been formulated on the basis of the conservation laws and other fundamental physical principles. The model is applied to the prediction of the condensation heat transfer characteristics for the Freon vapor in the presence of air on a horizontal tube. Calculated results for the mean heat transfer coefficient, which is shown to depend strongly on the bulk concentration of air, are in good agreement with the available experimental results for a range of operating conditions. The distributions of physical quantities along the surface of tube are also calculated, such as the boundary layer thickness and local heat transfer coefficient. The present model is readily reduced to the Nusselt model as the bulk concentration of air decreases to zero. Therefore, the transition from the condensation of pure vapor to that of vapor-air mixture occurs continuously not abruptly.

  • An arc model based on the N-S equations modified by adding an energy source term to take account of the arc is developed and solved using Taylor-Garlerkin FEM in the present paper. The numerical method is applied to the simulation of the opening procedure of a puffer type GCB. Moving boundary conditions of the arc chamber during operation is taken into account. Numerical predictions of the temperature profiles at different strokes are presented.

  • Most metal structures such as gas pipelines. oil pipelines, hot water pipelines and power cables etc. are buried in underground. Normally. metal structures corrode in underground by the electrochemical reaction. Then, metal structures need to be protected against corrosion. Cathodic protection is one of useful methods to protect metal structures against corrosion. In this paper we do the design of anode shape using Boundary Element Method. So we analysis the current density of anode surface and the potential distribution in the electrolyte. Therefore we seek to maximize the anode life and the safety of metal structures.

  • Owing to the rapid progress in manufacturing technology of microscale devices, there are active research works in developing microscale propulsion systems. In this study, gas flows in nozzles with size of milli and sub-millimeter are investigated by using a CFD code based on the Navier-Stokes equations. The prediction results were compared with theoretical results of quasi-one-dimensional nozzle flow and experiment data. In general, theoretical values agree very well with the CFD results. However, theoretical values begin to deviate from the CFD and experimental data for relatively small Reynolds numbers and the nozzle shape with rectangular cross section. The primary reason for this discrepancy is due to the existence of the thick boundary layer at the wall in low Reynolds flows.

강한 압력 교란에 구속된 고압 액적의 연소 응답 (Responses of Droplet Evaporation to High-Pressure Oscillations)

  • In order for studying pressure-coupled dynamic responses of droplet vaporization, open-loop experiment of an isolated droplet vaporization exposed to pressure perturbations in stagnant gaseous environment is numerically conducted. Governing equations are solved for flow parameters at gas and liquid phases separately and thermodynamic parameters at the interfacial boundary are matched for problem closure. For high-pressure effects, vapor-liquid interfacial thermodynamics is rigorously treated. A series of parametric calculations in terms of mean pressure level and wave frequencies are carried out employing a n-pentane droplet in stagnant gaseous nitrogen. Results show that wave instability in view of pressure-coupled vaporization response seems more susceptible at higher pressures and higher wave frequencies. Mass evaporation rate responding to pressure waves is amplified with increase in pressure due to substantial reduction in latent heat of vaporization. Augmentation of perturbation frequency also enhances amplification due to the reduction of phase differences between pressure perturbation and surface temperature fluctuation.

  • Because the reheating furnace consumes a large amount of energy to heat up the slabs, it is very important to find an optimal temperature patterns in the furnace for energy saving as well as uniform target temperature at the exit of the furnace. In this study, the temperature profiles in the slab are determined by solving the transient one-dimensional heat conduction equation in conjunction with boundary conditions with total heat exchange factors. The optimal temperature patterns are obtained to minimize the fuel consumption with satisfying the predetermined constraint conditions. The design optimization is performed by using a genetic algorithm and the optimal results are validated with results obtained from the PIDO tool, called as P.I.A.n.O.

헬리컬형 분자 드래그 펌프의 유동특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Pumping Performance of a Helical-type Molecular Drag Pump)

  • The present study is numerically and experimentally performed to reveal the pumping characteristics of a helical-type molecular drag pump (HTDP) in the molecular transition flow region. In the experimental study, the pressures are measured simultaneously at the 5 positions along the helical channel of rotor under various conditions of outlet pressure and throughputs, and nitrogen is used as test gas. The outlet pressure is in the range of 26-533 Pa. As results, the local pressure changes are checked corresponding to the various outlet pressure and throughput of HTDP. In the numerical study, Navier-Stokes equations with slip boundary conditions are employed (Re< 1000, Kn< 0.1). The local pressure distribution and the pumping speed are calculated. The numerical results are compared with the experimental results. The numerically computed value agrees with the experimental data within an error of approximately 5%.

DC 마그네트론 스퍼터링으로 제작된 NiFe 박막에서 Ar 압력이 자기 및 자기저항 성질에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Ar Gas Pressure on Thin Films Prepared by dc Magnetron Sputtering)

  • 스퍼터링 방법으로 제작된 NiFe 박막에서 Ar 압력이 자기 및 자기저항 성질에 미치는 여향을 조사하였다. 타겟으로는 Ni$_{81}$$Fe_{19}$ 조성의 합금타겟을 사용하였다. TEM을 써서 박막의 미세구조를 조사하였으며, 보자력과 포화자화는 VSM으로 측정하였다. 합금박막의 조성은 ICPS로 분석 확인하였다. 10 mTorr 이상의 높은 Ar 압력에서 제작된 박막에서 갈라진 틈새(crack-like void)를 갖는 주상구조가 관찰되었다. 이러한 주상 결정립경계(columnar grain boundary)가 자화 과정에서 자구벽 핀닝자리(pinning site)가 되어, Ar 압력이 커짐에 따라 보자력이 증가 하였으며, 박막의 밀도가 감소하여 포화자화가 줄어드는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 한편, Ar 압력이 증가하면서 자기저항비가 감소하는 결과를 얻었다. 결정립 경계 산란과 결정립간 터널링에 의한 박막의 비저항의 증가가 이러한 자기저항비 감소의 주원인임을 알 수 있었다.다.
