The Voltage-fed High Frequency Resonant Inverter Using Induction Heated Dry Steam Generator

  • This paper presents an innovative prototype of a new conceptual electromagnetic induction-based fluid beating appliance using voltage-fed type scries capacitor-compensated load resonant high-frequency IGBT inverter with a phase-shifted PWM and a power factor correction schemes. Its operating characteristics in steady-state are illustrated including unique features and evaluated on the basis of its computer simulation and experimental results of 10kw breadboard appliance for hot water producer and superheated steamer. The promising cost effective inverter-fed boiler appliances for electromagnetic induction-heated type fluid-heating in the pipeline systems are proposed for induction-heated boiler, super heat steamer, high temperature water producer, hot gas producer and metal catalyst heating for exhaust gas cleaning in engine, which are more suitable and acceptable for industrial, chemical, and consumer energy utilization for household and business from a practical point of view.

가정용 식생활기구 보유실태와 활용정도 (The Supply of Household Appliances and their Use)

  • This study investigates the over time changes in the ownership of kitchen items, electric or non-electric, and examines the patterns of the usage and ownership of the items after categorizing them as followings: cooking appliances, kitchen appliances directly related to storing food, food processing kitchen items, and dining items. The research findings are that refrigerators and rice cookers, among the electric items, had spread to almost every households by 1990s and at the same time about thirty non-electric kitchen items had been used. Refrigerators had been used by more than 100% of the households by 2000, and on top of that, twenty or more electric kitchen items such as Kimchi fridge and freezer had been used. In the case of non-electric kitchen items, approximately 50 to 70 sorts of them are used, which indicates an increase than in 1990s. Rice cookers and gas stoves, among cooking appliances, are recognized as the essential item, and they are actually frequently-used items. As to kitchen appliances related to storing food, each household owns one of the refrigerators and Kimchi fridges, and again they are both the frequently-used. As far as food processing kitchen items are concerned, each household owns at least one or more blenders and hand blenders, six or more knives, and five or more pans. Each household owns seventeen or more rice bowls and soup bowls and twenty-four or more plates. Small plates are more frequently used than large ones.

나노 윤활유를 이용한 스크롤 압축기 스러스트 베어링의 윤활특성 평가 (Performance Evaluation of Nano-Lubricants at Thrust Slide-Bearing of Scroll Compressors)

  • This paper presents the friction and anti-wear characteristics of nano-oil with n mixture of a refrigerant oil and carbon nano-particles in the thrust slide-bearing of scroll compressors. Frictional loss in the thrust slide-bearing occupies a large part of total mechanical loss in scroll compressors. The characteristics of friction and anti-wear Lising nano-oil is evaluated using the thrust bearing tester for measuring friction surface temperature and the coefficient of friction at the thrust slide-bearing as a function of normal loads up to 4,000 N and orbiting speed up to 3,200 rpm. It is found that the coefficient of friction increases with decreasing orbiting speed and normal force. The friction coefficient of carbon nano-oil is 0.015, while that of pure oil is 0.023 under the conditions of refrigerant gas R-22 at the pressure of 5 bars. It is believed that carbon nano-particles can be coated on the friction surfaces and the interaction of nano-particles between surfaces can be improved the lubrication in the friction surfaces. Carbon nano-oilenhances the characteristics of the anti-wear and friction at the thrust slide-bearing of scroll compressors.

범프 타입 포일 스러스트 베어링의 정하중 구조 강성 및 손실 계수 차이에 관한 실험적 연구 (On the Bearing-to-Bearing Variability in Experimentally Identified Structural Stiffnesses and Loss Factors of Bump-Type Foil Thrust Bearings under Static Loads)

  • High-speed turbomachinery implements gas foil bearings (GFBs) due to their distinctive advantages, such as high efficiency, lesser part count, and lower weight. This paper provides the test results of the static structural stiffnesses and loss factors of bump-type foil thrust bearings with increasing preload and bearing deflection. The focus of the current work is to experimentally quantify variability in structural stiffnesses and loss factors among the four test thrust bearings with identical design values and material of the bump and top foil geometries using the same (open-source) fabrication method. A simple test setup, using a rigidly mounted non-rotating shaft and thrust disk, measures the bearing bump deflections with increasing static loads on the test bearing. The inner and outer diameters of the test bearings are 41 mm and 81 mm, respectively. The loss factor, best-representing energy dissipation in the test bearings, is estimated from the area inside the local hysteresis loop of the load versus the bearing deflection curve. The measurements show that structural stiffnesses and loss factors of the test bearings significantly rely on applied preloads and bearing deflections. Local structural stiffnesses of the test bearings increase with applied preloads but decrease with bearing deflections. Changes of loss factors are less sensitive to applied preloads and bearing deflections compared to those of structural stiffnesses. Up to 35% variability in static load structural stiffnesses is found between bearings, while up to 30% variability in loss factors is found between bearings.

  • In this paper, we describe the design and appliance of the preventive diagnostic expert system of gas in oil for power transformer. This expert system is developed to use expert system development tool; Element Expert (NEURON DATA Inc.) Analysis is developed by four diagnose methods. In first, the standard of KEPCO is applied. It classifies the state of transformer by four level: Normal, warning, abnormal and danger. And the others are gas pattern methods, IEC code method, and Dornen & Roger Ratio method and applied later. These latter methods analyse the cause of result. Inference engine was designed with Element Expert. In last, we operate the system with sample data and we can obtain the correctly inferred result for the state of transformer.

  • The ventilation effectiveness is evaluated as a function of air exchange rate and supply / extract locations in a simplified model chamber using a tracer gas technique of CO$_2$ gas injected into a supply duct. Ventilation systems consist of supply and extract fans, a CO$_2$gas generator, a CO$_2$gas analyzer and a test chamber. The ventilation effectiveness is evaluated using a step-down method based on ASTM Standard E741-83. The room mean age of the model chamber is decreased with increasing air exchange rate fanged from 6to 10 air changes per hour. The ventilation effectiveness of the mechanical inlet/natural extract system is better than that of the mechanical extract system.

천연가스를 모사하는 등가가스의 유효성 검토 (Examination of validation for equivalent gas to replace natural gas)

  • 산지마다 상이한 성분을 갖는 천연가스의 가스호환성 및 연소특성을 판정하기 위해서는 많은 시간과 비용이 소비되고 그 범위도 넓어 어려움이 있어, 천연가스를 모사하는 등가가스를 대체하여 사용하는 방법이 사용되고 있다. 등가가스는 천연가스와 발열량, 압축계수, 상대밀도, CO 배출농도 및 연소속도에 차이가 거의 없다고 알려져 있지만, 실제 가스기기에 대한 화염형상, NOx 배출농도 및 효율에 대한 연구는 아직 보고되고 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 천연가스를 모사하는 등가가스를 대상으로 기존에 보고된 CO 배출농도, 연소속도 및 화염온도 등을 재확인하고, 화염형상, NOx 배출농도 및 효율에 대해서 수치해석 및 실험을 통해 비교 검토함으로써 등가가스의 유효성을 검토하였다. 그 결과 천연가스와 등가가스의 차이는 미세하였으며, 등가가스를 이용하여 천연가스의 연소특성 및 호환성 범위를 검토하는데 문제가 없을 것으로 판단되었다.

  • A small air-conditioner or chiller for a constant temperature bath normally uses a constant speed compressor. The constant speed compressor is relatively inexpensive, but it uses on/off control for capacity modulation. The on/off control has several disadvantages, specifically energy loss and large temperature fluctuation. Continuous operation with a bypass system can be an alternative to on/off control, for capacity modulation. In this study, a heat pump system having a hot-gas bypass and a liquid bypass was adopted. The performance of the bypass-type heat pump was measured, by varying the bypass valve opening. The differences of the COP between the hot-gas bypass and the liquid bypass, in the cooling and heating operations, were within 2% and 1%, respectively. The liquid bypass showed a wider range of capacity control in the cooling operation but the hot-gas bypass showed a wider range of capacity control in the heating operation.

해빙기 가스사고분석 및 사고예방 대책 제시 (Gas Accident Analysis and Suggestion of Countermeasure at Thawing Season)

  • 연료가스의 사용이 늘어남에 따라 이로 인한 가스사고를 적절하게 관리할 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 최근 4년 동안 발생했던 사고를 체계적으로 분석하여 사고 발생에 영향을 미치는 주된 요인을 찾아내고 이를 사고감소 대책을 제시하는데 활용한다. 해빙기는 연평균 치보다 사고발생비율이 높아 상대적으로 취약한 기간으로 분석되었다. 동 기간동안 LPG(Liquefied petroleum gas) 사고는 연 평균치와 비슷하나 전체적으로 차지하는 비중이 높으며 원인별로는 사용자취급부주의에 의한 사고와 제품불량 혹은 시설미비에 의한 사고가 많아 이에 대한 대책이 시급한 것으로 나타났다. 동 기간동안 도시가스사고는 연 평균치보다 높아 전반적으로 주의 깊게 관리할 필요가 있으며 특히 원인별로 시설미비로 인한 사고 및 타공사로 인한 사고가 비중이 높았다. 비중이 높은 사고나 연 평균치보다 사고비율이 높은 사고에 대해 이를 저감할 수 있는 대책을 제안하였다.

밀폐공간에서 메탄 폭발사고의 최소 가스누출량 예측 (Estimate Minimum Amount of Methane for Explosion in a Confined Space)

  • 밀폐된 거주공간에서 주성분이 메탄으로 이루어진 천연가스 누출은 가연성 분위기를 형성여 폭발사고로 이어진다. 밀폐공간에서 폭발을 일으키기 위한 최소 매탄 누출양은 혼합정도에 크게 의존한다. 본 논문에서는 가우스분포모델과 폭발실험에 근거하여 폭발 사고가 발생할 수 있는 최소한의 메탄 누출량을 예측하기 위한 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 밀폐공간에서 높이에 따라 가연성가스의 농도분포는 가우스분포를 가지는 것을 가정하여 연소범위에 있는 가스의 최대량을 예측하고, 일정한 부피에서 예측된 가스가 연소되어 단열 또는 등온 혼합과정을 통하여 최종 폭발압력을 예측할 수 있다. 폭발사고에 의한 건물의 피해 정도에 대응하는 최소가스 누출양을 예측할 수 있다. 연구결과 건물 내 밀폐공간에서 아주 적은 양의 메탄가스가 누출되어도 심각한 폭발사고를 일으킬 수 있다. 이는 안전장치 개발에 있어서 적절한 조치를 취하기 전에 최소허용 가스 누출량을 설정하는 것에 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 뿐 만 아니라 폭발사고 조사에도 활용 될 수 있다.
