  • Low-Voltage power lines should equip surge protection devices which protect electronic equipments and human lives against lightning and abnormal voltages. Data transmission capacity of the power line is determined by frequency characteristics of the surge protective devices. To analyze the effects of surge protective devices on the data transmission performance, various combinations of installation methods are tested which include ZnO varistor elements that is compatible with class I, class II and class III. The result claims that ZnO varistor for class III is found to be one of the main factors that deteriorates the transmission performance. To overcome this problem a serial connection methed between Gap type SPD and ZnO varistor is proposed. With the proposed scheme, laboratory experimental results show that the data transmission performance can be improved up to 91.9[%] with proper SPD combination.

  • This study is concerned with the analysis of the forming characteristics of radial-forward extrusion. Angle between radial and forward extrusion, gap height, and friction factor are considered as important design factors to affect forming characteristics in radial-forward extrusion. The rigid-plastic finite element method is adopted to analyze the effects of design factors on forming loads. The incremental rates of loads are nearly constant except the deformation zone from radial to forward extrusion. The smaller angle induces lesser force increment, therefore forming load increases as the angle increases. Maximum load also increases as gap-height decreases and friction factor increases.

  • Vacuum evaporated cadmium sulphide (CdS) thin films were implanted with $Ar^+$ and $N^+$ for different doses. The properties of the ion implanted CdS thin films have been analysed using XRD, optical transmittance spectra, and Raman scattering studies. Formation of Cd metallic clusters were observed in ion implanted films. The band gap of $Ar^+$ doped films decreased from 2.385 eV of the undoped film to 2.28 eV for the maximum doping. In the case of $N^+$ doped film the band gap decreased from 2.385 to 2.301 eV, whereas the absorption coefficient values increased with the increase of implantation dose. On implantation of both types of ions, the Raman peak position appeared at $299\textrm{cm}^{-1}$ and the FWHM changed with the ion dose.

  • Recently, construction of mass concrete structures except Dam are increased very often. Generation heat due to the hydrating reaction of mass concrete is generally larger than the heat released to the air, foundations and the exist structures. Therefore, internal temperature of mass concrete is remarkably risen and temperature gap between center and surface is extended by various effect. It this gap get large, the crack may be occurred. This crack must be controlled as little as possible to ensure the soundness and durability of structure. Firstly, Temperature rising history of Mass concrete is expected correctly to constrain the crack of mass concrete. So, objectives of this research is to quantify the effects of hydration temperature for the purpose of evaluating accurately the temperature history of mass concrete.

  • The nonlinear impacts between the Control Element Drive Mechanisms (CEDMs) seismic cap plates installed on the CEDM top of a pressurized water reactor are studied with the dynamically reduced models of the CEDM and Integrated Head Assembly (IHA). It is important to develope nonlinear models considering the gap effects between the plates. In order to simulate impacts, reduced models for the primary structures, such as CEDM and IHA, are developed through simplifying detailed models, and the nonlinear structural analysis is performed under seismic loading conditions. The responses are examined in various gap sizes depending on the reactor operating conditions.

  • Recently, ozone is utilized In various fields and its needs are expanding. therefore, so many ozone generation methods have been reported in the latest years, its main purpose Is to get the high ozone concentration and to improve the ozone yield. One of them is a plate-type ozone generator. In this paper, the plate-type ozone generator is piled up many folds(3 and 5 electrodes). Ozone concentration and yield were investigated in accordance with power, quantity of supplied gas and gap spacing of plate electrodes.

  • Considering the high temperature durability, the most important issue is to accurately predict the maximum operating temperature of the shell, mat and substrate. This temperature prediction then defines the material selections far the mat, shell and cones, and allows an assessment to be made as to the necessity of heat shielding. In this papers, The commercial code FLUENT was utilized to simulate automotive oval type catalytic converters, with the objective of predicting thermal behavior under steady-state, high-load conditions. Specialized computational models are used to account for effects of heat and mass transfer in the monolith, conjugate heat transfer in the various converter materials, and radiation heat transfer.

  • Contactless electrical power transfer through an air gap is a revived technology for supplying energy to many movable applications including Maglev. In this paper, magnetic equivalent circuits and analytical models of contactless electrical power transfer systems are developed and evaluated through experiment. Overall coupling coefficient and overall efficiency are introduced as means for evaluating the systems' performance. Compensating capacitors in primary and secondary sides of the systems improve the overall coupling coefficient and overall efficiency. Using the analytical models, the effects of different parameters and variables such as air gap and load current are analyzed to give a high coupling coefficient and an improved efficiency of power transfer for different compensation structures.
