Deep Learning based Human Recognition using Integration of GAN and Spatial Domain Techniques

  • Real-time human recognition is a challenging task, as the images are captured in an unconstrained environment with different poses, makeups, and styles. This limitation is addressed by generating several facial images with poses, makeup, and styles with a single reference image of a person using Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN). In this paper, we propose deep learning-based human recognition using integration of GAN and Spatial Domain Techniques. A novel concept of human recognition based on face depiction approach by generating several dissimilar face images from single reference face image using Domain Transfer Generative Adversarial Networks (DT-GAN) combined with feature extraction techniques such as Local Binary Pattern (LBP) and Histogram is deliberated. The Euclidean Distance (ED) is used in the matching section for comparison of features to test the performance of the method. A database of millions of people with a single reference face image per person, instead of multiple reference face images, is created and saved on the centralized server, which helps to reduce memory load on the centralized server. It is noticed that the recognition accuracy is 100% for smaller size datasets and a little less accuracy for larger size datasets and also, results are compared with present methods to show the superiority of proposed method.

Conditional GAN을 이용한 SAR 표적영상의 해상도 변환 (Resolution Conversion of SAR Target Images Using Conditional GAN)

  • For successful automatic target recognition(ATR) with synthetic aperture radar(SAR) imagery, SAR target images of the database should have the identical or highly similar resolution with those collected from SAR sensors. However, it is time-consuming or infeasible to construct the multiple databases with different resolutions depending on the operating SAR system. In this paper, an approach for resolution conversion of SAR target images is proposed based on conditional generative adversarial network(cGAN). First, a number of pairs consisting of SAR target images with two different resolutions are obtained via SAR simulation and then used to train the cGAN model. Finally, the model generates the SAR target image whose resolution is converted from the original one. The similarity analysis is performed to validate reliability of the generated images. The cGAN model is further applied to measured MSTAR SAR target images in order to estimate its potential for real application.

Data Augmentation Techniques of Power Facilities for Improve Deep Learning Performance

  • Diagnostic models are required. Data augmentation is one of the best ways to improve deep learning performance. Traditional augmentation techniques that modify image brightness or spatial information are difficult to achieve great results. To overcome this, a generative adversarial network (GAN) technology that generates virtual data to increase deep learning performance has emerged. GAN can create realistic-looking fake images by competitive learning two networks, a generator that creates fakes and a discriminator that determines whether images are real or fake made by the generator. GAN is being used in computer vision, IT solutions, and medical imaging fields. It is essential to secure additional learning data to advance deep learning-based fault diagnosis solutions in the power industry where facilities are strictly maintained more than other industries. In this paper, we propose a method for generating power facility images using GAN and a strategy for improving performance when only used a small amount of data. Finally, we analyze the performance of the augmented image to see if it could be utilized for the deep learning-based diagnosis system or not.

  • 인공지능을 사용하는 다양한 객체 인식은 기본적으로 평면적인 결과를 보여준다. 물체를 분류하거나 이미지상에 있는 객체가 무엇인지를 확인하는 것을 기초로 한다. 하지만, 원래의 물체는 평면이 아닌 입체적 형태를 가지고 있으며 이미지에서 단순 결과만을 얻기 위한 인식은 상관없지만, 다양한 분야에 활용한다면 부족한 정보가 많다. 본 논문에서는 GAN 알고리즘을 기반으로 한 이미지 생성과 관련하여 중간 결과를 생성하는 Layer의 특성을 활용하여 물체의 다방면의 데이터 생성 방법과 그것이 유의미한지를 확인한다. 기존의 다방면 데이터를 생성하기 위한 하드웨어 및 수집과정에서의 문제점을 일부 해결하고, 몇몇 제한적인 객체에서의 데이터 생성 후 활용이 가능함을 확인한다.

  • 최근 인테리어에 관심을 가지는 인구가 증가함에 따라 세계적으로 인테리어 시장이 크게 성장하고 있으며, 글로벌 인테리어 업체들은 다양한 인테리어 요소에 대한 시뮬레이션 서비스를 개발하여 제공하고 있다. 벽지의 디자인은 가장 중요한 인테리어 요소임에도 불구하고, 기존 벽지 디자인 시뮬레이션 서비스들은 예상되는 결과물과 실제 결과물 간 차이, 긴 시뮬레이션 작업시간, 전문적인 기술의 필요 등의 단점으로 인해 사용에 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서는 벽지 인테리어 시뮬레이션을 위한 Cycle GAN(: Generative Adversarial Networks) 기반의 벽지 이미지 변환 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법은 다양한 모양의 벽지가 사용된 인테리어 이미지 데이터를 기반으로 모델을 학습하여, 사용자에게 짧은 시간 내에 벽지 인테리어 시뮬레이션을 제공할 수 있다.

치아 보철물 디자인을 위한 이미지 대 이미지 변환 GAN 모델 (An Image-to-Image Translation GAN Model for Dental Prothesis Design)

  • Traditionally, tooth restoration has been carried out by replicating teeth using plaster-based materials. However, recent technological advances have simplified the production process through the introduction of computer-aided design(CAD) systems. Nevertheless, dental restoration varies among individuals, and the skill level of dental technicians significantly influences the accuracy of the manufacturing process. To address this challenge, this paper proposes an approach to designing personalized tooth restorations using Generative Adversarial Network(GAN), a widely adopted technique in computer vision. The primary objective of this model is to create customized dental prosthesis for each patient by utilizing 3D data of the specific teeth to be treated and their corresponding opposite tooth. To achieve this, the 3D dental data is converted into a depth map format and used as input data for the GAN model. The proposed model leverages the network architecture of Pixel2Style2Pixel, which has demonstrated superior performance compared to existing models for image conversion and dental prosthesis generation. Furthermore, this approach holds promising potential for future advancements in dental and implant production.

소간음(疎肝飮)으로 살펴보는 조선의학에 대한 일고(一考) (A thought on Joseon's Medical Science through a look at SoGanEum(疎肝飮))

  • This study makes SoGanEum(疎肝飮), which is included in YoYak(要略) [JangBuPyoBonHeoSil MaekYakChongBang (臟腑標本虛實脈藥摠方)], its object. It elucidates the origin of this prescription from Chinese medical texts, and examines the characteristics shown in the process of reception through Joseon's exemplary medical texts.

  • 사람 얼굴 생성을 목적으로 하는 Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)에서 판별자(discriminator)의 각 레이어에 대한 스펙트럴 정규화(spectral normalization) 적용에 따른 출력 이미지의 결과를 비교하였다. 또한 생성자(generator)에 적응 인스턴스 정규화(Adaptive Instance Normalization) 모듈의 삽입에 따른 출력 이미지의 결과를 기존 모델과 비교하고 분석하였다.

  • Cheung-Gan-Haeju tang has been used on 3 cases of alcoholic liver disease patients complicated with ascites, clinical symptom(fatigue. jaundice, urine dark, indigestion, anorexia. ascites etc), liver function (AST, ALT, ${\gamma}$-GT, ALP, total bilirubin), and index of nutritional state (total protein, albumin, cholesterol) were improved after the adminstration. Although the exact mechanism involved in the effects of Cheung-Gan-haeju tang on these disease is still unknown, it is possibly suspected that Cheung-Gan-Haeju tang is non-toxic to liver and has beneficial effects on treating alcoholic liver disease complicated ascites. Further reports with many case, however, will be needed.

마비성 장폐색환자의 감수로 호전된 증례 (A Clinical Case Study of Paralytic Ileus Patient Improved by Euphorbiae Kansui Radix(Gan-sui))

  • Paralytic ileus is one of the gastro-intestinal symptoms of a patient who is in the post-symptom period resulting from stroke. The purpose of this study was to examine the efficacy of Euphorbiae Kansui Radix(Gan-sui) for a patient who has suffered from severe paralytic ileus as post-symptoms caused by 3rd stroke. The subject was a 70-year-old woman who had been troubled with dyspepsia, abdominal flatus and other pains during the past 10 years, and whose symtoms worsened because of her recent 3rd stroke. At the time of admission, she complained of abdominal flatus, conspitation, quadri weakness(Lt>Rt) and dysathria. For the first 10 days after admission, she was treated with Oriental' Western Medicine, which failed to relieve any symptom. However, after taking Euphorbiae Kansui Radix(Gan-sui), gastro-intestinal vermicular movement improved, so the symptoms of abdominal flatus and conspitation disappeared. As a consequence, the accompanying paralytic ileus condition also improved.
