The purpose of serious game for therapy is not to cure patients directly, but to have them cause psychological change, and get positive treatment will. In this study, we extracted 5 elements to be considered to design efficient serious games for psychological therapy through precedent data's analysis. For verification of the extracted elements, we intensively analyzed 2 elements. Those are 'Re-Mission' of which the effect was already proven, and 'SIMS2' which was designed to get the effect of treatment which patients who may experience difficulties in real-world can obtain in virtual space through previous experiences. As a result, material stability, reality, consistency with characters and self-determination of game progress are applied to all the analyzed games, But interactivity with reality is not applied. However, previous researches and validated questionnaire show that interactivity with reality is appropriate element. Consequently, the results of this study will be important materials in designing more efficient serious games for therapy.
Games of the AOS genre are classified as an e-sport rather than a recreational computer game. The involved statistical analyses such as game playing patterns and the season's characters gain importance due to the expertise-requiring nature of sports. In this study, the strategic analysis of computer games was conducted by using data mining techniques on League of Legend, a representative AOS game. We designed and tested a winning forecast model using winning percentage prediction techniques such as logistic regression analysis, discriminant analysis, and artificial neural networks. The game data analysis results were represented by a probabilistic graph and used in the visualization tool for game play. Experimental results of the winning forecast model showed a high classification rate of 95% on average with potential for use in establishing various strategies for game play with the visualization tool.
This study attempted to identify differences in user experience such as spatial presence, social presence, flow, empathy, anxiety, and perceived risk between simulating characters of animation and of actual userimage. The playtesting method was conducted on 60 male smokers using 'Smoking Sims', a simulation game produced by The Center for Health Communication Studies. The results found that the simulation of actual image character is higher in the level of perceived risks for smoking, spatial presence, social presence, flow, and empathy than the simulation of animation character. The study shows that identification with a game character affects user experience and enhances the effectiveness of perceived risks as well. It emphasizes the importance of game design to implement identification in serious game like a smoking cessation simulation.
In conventional game systems, virtual environments usually have just the role of a background without the direct relationships for game characters. nev do not consider the semantics about virtual environments. In this paper, we develop a game navigation system that provides semantic information about virtual environments including geographical, historical or my other location-dependent information. Then, the game character obtains the geographical location and its related information when it navigates through a virtual environment. It can be an implementation method for a semantic virtual environment because it can have the environment maintain its semantics depending on the specific location. In addition, we describe a method that can control a character's motion in the semantic virtual environment interactively, and that can input specific information according to the location of the character.

In recent, mobile augmented reality game which has been attracting high attention is considered to be an good approach to increase immersion. In conventional augmented reality-based games that recognize target objects using a mobile camera and show the matching game characters, touch-based interaction is mainly used. In this paper, we propose an intuitive interaction method which manipulates a deformable game object by moving a target image of augmented reality in order to enhacne the immersion of the game. In the proposed method, the deformable object is intuitively manipulated by calculating the distance and direction between the target images and by adjusting the external force applied to the deformable object using them. In this paper, we focus on the cloth deformable object which is widely used for natural object animation in game contents and implement natural cloth simulation interacting with game objects represented by wind and rigid objects. In the experiments, we compare the previous commercial cloth model with the proposed method and show the proposed method can represent cloth animation more realistically.
An on-line game is growing of very fast through characters of the interactive Computing and internet environment. In addition, an edu-game combing the advantages of the game and the education increase gradually. The paper proposes an edu-game system for providing knowledge through the hierarchical structure. The system differs from existing ones that combine a game and an on-line education. There are three different goals as follows. First, the paper proposes three-level of knowledge hierarchies. The method enables users to understand more easy and systematic and interesting education. Second, the graphic interface of a puzzle type is able to contact more conveniently and it provides beauties and functionalities. Third, Among them, specifically the knowledge hierarchy is not forced to users and the method also can study in detail and users can enjoy systematically e-education by using the general type of a puzzle game.
Since This study is about game novel. I'm going to discuss the flow and features of game novels. Game novels developed in Korea, the game industry developed and made it possible. Fantasy novels, Muhyeop novels, and the generation of games met, so game novels could develop. By looking at the trends of game novels, I want to lay the foundation for the study of popular literature genre. The reason behind the emergence of game novels is the meeting of the game generation and the novel. The types of game novels can be distinguished according to the 'location of the main characters' and 'the narrative style'. It is not the best, but it is the minimum work to identify the genre. The biggest characteristic of game novels is their connection to games. It also uses the system of the real game. Another characteristic is that a variety of variations are possible with other genres. Game novels were influenced by fantasy novels and Muhyeop novels. Game novels now hold a solid place in the realm of popular literature. But the limits are also clear. It is the repeated use of game novel progression. Here are the limitations that game have to overcome. In addition, active research should be carried out. This study is intended to promote research on these game novel genres.
Body motions are commonly used to express emotions in virtual characters based on body parts, which are frequently employed in games. For this purpose, it is necessary to create different types of animations corresponding to the emotions shown by virtual characters. Therefore, a large of number of animations should be created for different gestures depending on the level of human emotion. In this paper, we propose a method for displaying gestures with various degrees of complexity on the basis of the level of emotion in virtual characters. In particular, this method can be used to display passive and exaggerated expressions by adding weighted values to the frames that rotate the characters to make them show different gestures depending on the level of emotion. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we use the Emotional Animation Tool (EATool), with which body-weighted values can be applied to the actual or virtual characters. After assigning different emotions to walking motions in the newly developed environment, we apply different body-weighted values depending on the level of each emotion. The results of a comparative test reveal that a given type of walking motion differs with the level of emotion.
China, Korea and Japan are all neighbors, but there are quite a few differences in monster culture. In this article, through studying of Korea games highest export countries--China and Japan, as well as analysis on their historical origin of development of "Monster culture", so as to explore the similarities and differences between development of monster culture. In addition, combining these differences and similarities, through the study of "monster culture" related game works, it aims to explore the impact of these countries' monster culture on modern life culture and the development characteristics of all kinds of monsters under the background of modern culture. Besides, based on above analysis, developed a monster character design that can form a bond of sympathy in three countries by comparing and combining the most popular parts of the monster characters in this three countries. The final aim is to create a game monster character that both in rich ancient culture charm and loved by all people, so as to being taken as an example to illustrate the significance and value of promoting the development of monster culture. The result of this research will help to design monster characters in game production in the future.
Online games take place by the interactions among users and their contents change endlessly with their organic characteristics. Especially, digital images that make a great impact on game play such as characters or items form their own value beyond the establishment scope of their designer even outside of the game world. The users who pay fees for using them establish the concept of possession for the images and information designed in the games. Then, business transactions are formed among them who are in agreement with their values and their possession rights can be changed. In this way, digital images in the online games form new values by the interaction among other users or game systems. Meanwhile, the more the interaction and a sense of solidarity in the community increase, the higher their value becomes.
