  • The present paper deals with the dynamic stability and vibration suppression of a cantilevered flexible pipe with a concetrated mass under an internal fluid flow. The equations of motion are derived by energy expressions using Hamilton's pronciple, and some analytical results using Galerkin's method are presented. Finally, the vibration suppression technique by means of an internal fluid flow is demonstrated experimentally.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of antenna factors of half-wave resonance dipole antennas above a ground plane. The current distributions on a horizontal and vertical dipole antennas were analyzed by the Galerkin's method of moments, and these solutions are used for calculating the horizontal and vertical antenna factors above the ground plane. It is shown that accurate antenna factors of the horizontal and vertical dipole above the ground plane are required of the radiated emission test.

  • The effect of the applied direction and magnitude of loads on the stability and natural frequency of flexible rotors is analyzed, when the rotors are subject to nonconservative torque and force. The stability criterion derived from the energy and variational principle is discussed and a general Galerkin's method which utilizes admissible functions is employed for numerical analysis. Illustrative examples are treated to demonstrate the analytical developments.

  • The paper presents the dynamic stability of a vertical cantilevered pipe conveying fluid and having an intermediate translational linear spring. The translational linear spring can be located at an arbitrary position. Governing equations are derived by energy expressions, and numerical technique using Galerkin's method is applied to discretize the equations of small motion of the pipe. Effects of linear spring supports on the dynamic stability of a vertical cantilevered pipe conveying fluid are fully investigated for various locations and magnitudes of the translational linear spring.

  • The present paper deals with the dynamic stability and vibration suppression of a cantilevered flexible pipe having a tip mass under an internal flowing fluid. The equations of motion are derived by energy expressions using extended Hamilton's principle, and some analytical results using Galerkin's method are presented. Finally, the vibration suppression technique by means of an internal fluid flow is demonstrated experimentally.

  • Complex resonant frequency of on a uniaxial substrate with a superstrate-loaded microstrip structure is investigate. The study is performed by Galerkin’s method. The numerical convergence using sinusoidal basis function. Numerical results for the effects of anisotropy in the substrate, superstrate permittivity, in the complex resonant frequency of the rectangular microstrip structure are also presented. Half-power bandwidth are increased due to the positive uniaxial an isotropy and superstrate.

  • Static and dynamic responses of micro cantilever beam structures undertaking electrostatic forces are obtained employing Galerkin's method based on Euler beam theory. Variations of static and dynamic responses as well as resonant frequencies are estimated for several sets of beam properties and applied voltages. It is shown that the applied voltage influences the deflection and the modal characteristics significantly. Such information can be usefully employed for the design of MEMS structures.

  • The paper deals with the dynamic response of non-uniform beams subjected to a moving mass. In the dynamic analysis, the effects of inertia force, elastic force, centrifugal force, Coriolis force and self weight due to moving mass are taken into account. Galerkin's mode summation method is applied for the discretized equations of notion. Numerical results for the dynamic response of the non-uniform beam under a moving mass having various magnitudes and velocities are investigated. Experimental results have a good agrement with predictions
