  • We examine various digital halftoning technique and their application to printings. Three such technique are the error diffusion, cluster dither and disperse dither method. This paper describes a new tone correction halftone method to compensate dot gain. Input digital level are transformed by tone correction characteristics. The function of tone correction are solved from the printer response characteristic. The experimental results show that the proposed method is useful and valid.

  • In this paper, a transimpedance optical receiver based on PIN/P-HEMT with cascoded input stage and inductor peaking technique was designed for several giga bits optical communication. Analysis of the receiver shows that cascoded input stage with inductor peaking increase bandwidth without sacrificing low frequence gain. The receiver achieved a low noise characteristic and maximally flat frequence response. It is shown that the 3-dB bandwidth of the designed receiver is 8.3 ㎓ and input equivalent noise current is as low as 16pA/√Hz to 10㎓.

  • The method of characteristic matrix used in the calculation of multi-layered optical coating is applied to the analysis of DFB waveguide with arbitrary structure of grating by plecewise approximation where the DFB structure is devided into many sections in which the gain and period, amplitude and phase of DFB structure are assuced to be constant in each section. The DFB structure with two section is analyzed using this method of C-matrix. The possible applications for photonic devices using DFB waveguides are proposed.

  • The paper clarifies all the noise sources of a CMOS image sensor, with which the GOCI (Geostationary Ocean Color Imager) is equipped, and analyzes their contribution to a nonlinear image sensor model. In particular, the noise PDF (Probability Density Function) is derived in terms of sensor-gain coefficients: a linear and a nonlinear gains. As a result, the relation between the noise characteristic and the sensor gains is studied.

  • In this study, development of multichannel filter module and characteristic evaluation for bio imaging were studied. The filter module was fabricated in order to realize near infrared fluorescence imaging of 700 nm and 800 nm wavelength ranges, and contrast imaging analysis for characteristic evaluation of the filter module was studied through signal to back ground ratio (SBR), controlled by parameters such as magnification, exposure, gain. Furthermore, phantoms, which are biomimetic tissue with equal optical properties of kidney and liver, were fabricated to study characteristics of both filter module depending on thickness and exposure amount of light source for bio imaging analysis. The fabricated filter module has more than 4 of SBR difference despite changes of magnification, exposure, gain, and in the case of the kidney phantom and the liver phantom, contrast imaging of more than 4 of SBR was confirmed on 50 mA, 60 mA exposure amount of light source respectively.

  • Marcel Wanders, one of the greatest designers in the world of contemporary design, was born in the Netherlands. His works run the gamut from interior design to furniture design to lighting design, building a unique world of works. He started to gain fame when he presented "Knotted Chair" at Droog Design in 1996, which was made out of aramid ropes and later became his symbol. In 2000, he established "moooi," a world-renowned design label. By giving characteristic qualities, his works are given meaning, and like a fantastical dream, their images are extremely fantastical and stimulating. As can be seen in his character cover, he puts emphasis on the harmony between minimalism and decoration, establishing his own unique design concept. In this thesis, based on Marcel Wander's design philosophy, his overall design characteristics were classified into theatrical effects and storytelling. Expressive elements depaysement, eclectic mixture, and scale modification were derived from theatrical effects and analyzed; for storytelling, object, semantic cues, and dream and fantasy were derived and analyzed. A distinguishing feature of such analysis is his meaning-centric design approach, the principle by which to form long-term relationships with the users by creating user-centric designs that make them find meaning and values in diverse experiences in their daily routine, giving them familiar yet unique experience.

  • Recently, PWM Buck AC-AC Converter is widely employed in various industrial applications such as voltage and power regulator, electronic transformer, phase shifter and so on. This paper presents static and dynamic modeling and complete characteristic analysis of a PWM Buck AC-AC converter. Firstly, the three phase converter system is modelled by using DQ transformation whereby we can obtain basic characteristic equations such as voltage gain and power factor as well as state equation and transfer function for control. Secondly, based on the analysis, the feedforward-feedback control technique is also proposed to obtain instantaneous duty level change whereby very fast dynamic response is achieved. Finally, the experimental results show the validity of the modeling, analysis and control.

  • The purpose of this survey-based study is to make an analysis of search engine users' behaviors on the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) based on the three demographic characteristics gender, age, and program studying. In this study, a questionnaire was designed with 12 closed-ended questions. Remaining questions other than the demographic characteristic related ones were about "tab", "advertisement", "spelling suggestion", "related query suggestion", "instant search suggestion", "video result", "image result", "pagination" and the amount of clicking results. The questionnaire was used and the data collected were analyzed with the descriptive statistics as well as the inferential statistics. 84.2% of the study population was reached. Some of the major results are as follows: Most of each demographic characteristic category (i.e. female, male, under-20, 20-24, above-24, English computer engineering, Turkish computer engineering, software engineering) have rarely or more click for tab, spelling suggestion, related query suggestion, instant search suggestion, video result, image result, and pagination. More than 50.0% of female category click advertisement rarely; however, for the others, 50.0% or more never click advertisement. For every demographic characteristic category, between 78.0% and 85.4% click 10 or fewer results. This study would be the first attempt with its complete content and design. Search engine providers and researchers would gain knowledge to user behaviors about the usage of the SERPs based on the demographic characteristics.

  • A compact ultra-wide band antenna with a quadruple band-notched characteristic is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a slotted trapezoid patch radiator, an inverted U-shaped band stop filter, a pair of C-shaped band stop filters, and a rectangular ground plane. To realize the quadruple notch-band characteristic, a U-shaped slot, a complementary split ring resonator, an inverted U-shaped band stop filter, and two C-shaped band stop filters are utilized in this antenna. The antenna satisfies the -10 dB reflection coefficient bandwidth requirement in the frequency band of 2.88-12.67 GHz, with a band-rejection characteristic in the WiMAX (3.43-3.85 GHz), WLAN (5.26-6.01 GHz), X-band satellite communication (7.05-7.68 GHz), and ITU 8 GHz (8.08-8.87 GHz) signal bands. In addition, the proposed antenna has a compact volume of $30mm{\times}33.5mm{\times}0.8mm$ while maintaining omnidirectional patterns in the H-plane. The experimental and simulated results of the proposed antenna are shown to be in good agreement.

  • Surface plasmon effect was considered importantly because of the enhancement of optical signals. It is important to detect weak optical signal in neuroscience and bio technology due to detect weaker image or signal. The height of silver can change the optical characteristic of plasmonic nano structure including transmittance and reflectance. In this paper, the optical characteristic of plasmonic nano structure were confirmed by the FDTD analysis method depending on the silver height and it was confirmed that energy was concentrated at the center of nano structure, and high far-field gain and current density in particular wavelength coule be obtained.
