Study on Impact of GUI Design Elements of Mobile Phone on Brand Preference With focus on senior citizens (모바일 폰의 GUI 디자인의 구성요소가 브랜드 선호도에 미치는 영향 실버세대를 중심으로)

  • This study has established the GUI design elements of mobile phones as color, text, layout, graphic icon, and video, under the purpose of exploring the relevance between such elements and brand preference among senior citizens. To accomplish the objective, a model and hypotheses were established, which were tested through a multiple regression analysis. The findings are as follows. First, when the statistical significance was examined by GUI design element of mobile phones, the following results were obtained: Color, text, layout, graphic icon, and video were statistically significant at the significance level given, indicating that such elements all affect brand preference. Second, the relative influence of GUI design elements of mobile phones on brand preference was revealed in the following order: text, color, video, graphic icon, layout. It indicates that boosting the brand preference of senior citizens for mobile phones requires considering 'text' and 'color' first before any other element. In addition, as the influence of 'text' and 'color' becomes greater, the brand preference also becomes higher.

  • 21st Century is getting into Super aging society worldwide basis. Among those population, silver(aged) generation users' physical condition, such as sight, hearing and body, is getting older, especially sight ability which processes 80% of input data, it requires us studying new smartphone GUI designs convergence for the elderly. In light of this social phenomenon, this study suggests smartphone GUI designs convergence guideline for the silver generation through the research of text, icon which are basic elements of smartphone GUI with proper visual attributes. I had inferred UX designs, expert group and evaluation categories from existing papers, related books and designed some displays for the survey. I also offered this guideline with the deep survey of 101 people over 65 years old.

  • In the context of the number of Tablet PC users which increases rapidly, online shopping application has also been a corresponding rapid development. However, as a practical matter, the differences among the consumers' ability will affect the purchase of application for the realization of user needs. Therefore, shopping application in the GUI design to improve consumers use needs to be improved to meet the demands of different users. In view of this problem, this paper has carried on the related research on the GUI design of Tablet PC application, and fully considers the visualization image elements of information transmission, then analyzed the top five shopping application in Chinese market via three visual elements - icon, label and color. In addition, it conducted a questionnaire which based on the object of Tablet PC shopping application Chinese users. Consequently, what obtained is, based on the survey findings, the GUI design proposal which reasonable reflects the shopping application with functionality and designability. Through the research results of this paper, we can get the conclusion that the three kinds of visual GUI elements-icon, label and color- have the influence on the user's usability. In addition, this study can be expected as a reference in the shopping software GUI design.

Similarity Criteria in GUI and Icon Design - with an Emphasis on the Quantitative Evaluation using Checklists - (화상디자인의 유사성 판단기준에 대한 연구 - 체크리스트를 활용한 정량적인 평가 방법을 중심으로-)

  • This paper is focused on the similarity of GUI design and proposes checklists for evaluating similarity of GUI design in quantitative way and more important factors in this checklists. On the first, consideration of similarity and analysis of GUI properties are made, and from these results, the categories that affect the evaluation of similarity are extracted. The categories are consisted of 5 factors, which are concept, shape, color, relation, and multimedia. The checklists from above 5 categories are tested in 3-stage, and in this paper, 11 checklists from shape, color, and relation factor of the second stage are verified by online survey. The purpose of this survey is to find out the difference between user groups(designer, computer related, etc) and more important factors in the checklists that affect the total results of similarity. In the results of survey, the checklists have no relation with the user groups and among the checklists, external shape, composition element, and design methods have impact factors on the evaluation of similarity.

  • It is obvious that the sales of smart phones are increasing every year whereas the growth rate is decreasing year by year from 2010 through the investigation of the current situation of the smartphone market. Therefore, the GUI design of smartphones has gradually become the major design difference and selling point. In this research background, the purpose of this paper is to investigate and analyze the relationship between GUI design and user experience which takes the 20 generation smartphone users in China as the research objects, so as to understand the impact of GUI design on user experience. In this paper, five visual elements of GUI design are derived from prior study, and five essential factors of user experience are educed by using online review text analysis and KJ. Finally, this thesis makes a questionnaire survey on the 20 generation smartphone users in China, and analyzes the influence of GUI design on the user experience. Meanwhile, we put forward some suggestions for improving the user experience on the basis of the survey results.

  • This study conducted an actual condition survey with users in order to examine the Graphic User Interface (GUI) design appearing in fast food Digital Information Display (DID). Selecting four restaurants with high sales in the hamburger industry in 2017, including Lotteria, McDonald's, Burger King, and Mom's Touch, based on this, this study investigated and analyzed GUI visual components appearing in DID, including layout, character, color, graphics, and videos based on this. As a result, this study could propose a design plan providing users with the layout that can be clearly and neatly divided, characters attracting attention with high readability, colors with high visibility, graphics attract interest, and videos with various contents, rather than a complex approach for efficient GUI design, analyzing the environmental factors of fast food restaurants.

  • 현재 리워드 앱은 스마트폰을 이용해 부가적인 혜택을 누릴 수 있는 인기 앱 서비스로 지속적인 성장과 함께 서비스의 범위가 확대되고 있어 사용성을 고려한 디자인의 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구는 리워드 앱 상위 4개를 사용자경험을 바탕으로 한 GUI디자인의 사용성 평가를 디자인전공자 30명의 설문으로 진행하였다. 리워드 앱 GUI구성요소에 따른 사용성 평가 결과는 5점 만점에 '캐시슬라이드' 3.97로 가장 높고, '허니스크린' 3.18, '넥슨플레이' 3.07, '라떼스크린'2.9 순으로 나타났다. 본 연구가 향 후 경쟁력있는 리워드 앱의 GUI요소 개발에 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

  • 미디어기기들이 디지털화 된 이후, GUI는 디지털기기의 활용도를 높여주는 매개체역할을 해왔다. 최근 출시되는 기기들의 그래픽 사양이 높아지면서, GUI는 어플리케이션의 접근성을 높여주는 소극적인 요소에서 사용자에게 다양하고 새로운 감성과 가치를 제공하는 보다 적극적인 요소로서 그 역할이 확대되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 사용자의 감성 만족도를 향상시키기 위해 시각적 주목성이 높은 Motion GUI를 도입하였다. Motion GUI의 시각 구성 요소들을 분류하고 각 요소에 따른 감성 정보를 도출한다. 또한 최소한의 그래픽으로 구성되어 있었던 기존 미디어 플레이어 화면에, 도출된 연구 결과를 도입하여 디자인한 Motion GUI를 적용하고 그 사용성과 사용자의 감성 만족도에 대한 결과를 기술한다.

FDM Full Color 3D Printer GUI Design Development of Checklist for Usability (FDM 풀 컬러 3D프린터 GUI디자인 사용성을 위한 체크리스트 개발)

  • With the recent development of 3D printers, there is a growing need to make them similar to real products. As a result, FDM full-color 3D printers have been developed and actively distributed, but GUI design has fallen short of that, causing confusion among users. Accordingly, this study conducted a literature survey, and through a case study, the current status of FDM full-color 3D printers was identified and the components of GUI design were analyzed based on prior research. The draft checklist was drawn up according to the components of the derived GUI design, and 24 items were deleted through the three Delphi surveys and the validity of the remaining 26 items was verified. As a result, the layout should consist of intuitive screen configuration and menus with high frequency of use, and the text should be intuitive and clearly communicated. In addition, the icon should be placed in a visible position and used in real life to image it. Finally, we could see that the color should be used to give feedback to the user using the highlight color and not overlap the output.

  • "카카오톡"이 세계시장으로 확대하기를 위해서 중미일의 대표적인 모바일 SNS(Facebook, Wechat, Linkedln)와 대비를 통하여 GUI디자인을 중심으로 분석이 이루어져야 할 필요성이 있다. 연구결과를 통하여 본 카카오톡 GUI디자인의 특징과 문제점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 굵은 선으로 아이콘 구성하는 방법이 전체 스타일에 영합하지만 화면이 복잡해 보이는 측면이 있다. 둘째, 서브메뉴에서 아이콘과 앱링크, 광고이미지 등 다양한 요소를 한꺼번에 놓으면 혼란한 측면이 있다.
