  • Two distinct morphological features, leading edge and uropod, in mobile T lymphocyte are crucial for efficient directional movement. The uropod is a unique rear protrusion in migrating lymphocytes, in which several proteins, including CD44, ERM (ezrin/radixin/moesin), and F-actin cytoskeleton are concentrated and concerted. F-actin cytoskeleton is a basic mold for the shape maintenance. Rho A small GTPase acts as cytoskeleton organizer, So far, various pathways potentially can induce the Rho activation. PDZ domain is able to increase active Rho A form (Rho-GTP) level, reorganize F-actin cytoskeleton, disrupts the uropod structure and cell migration was diminished, suggesting that signaling pathways between Rho and F-artin cytoskeleton are related to uropod formation.

  • Genes expressed during conidial germination of the pepper anthracnose fungus Colletotrichum acutatum were identified by sequencing the 5' end of unidirectional cDNA clones prepared from the conidial germination stage. A total of 983 expressed sequence tags (ESTs) corresponding to 464 genes, 197 contigs and 267 singletons, were generated. The deduced protein sequences from half of the 464 genes showed significant matches (e value less than 10-5) to proteins in public databases. The genes with known homologs were assigned to known functional categories. The most abundantly expressed genes belonged to those encoding the elongation factor, histone protein, ATP synthease, 14-3-3 protein, and clock controlled protein. A number of genes encoding proteins such as the GTP-binding protein, MAP kinase, transaldolase, and ABC transporter were detected. These genes are thought to be involved in the development of fungal cells. A putative pathogenicity function could be assigned for the genes of ATP citrate lyase, CAP20 and manganese-superoxide dismutase.

  • Purpose : This study was conducted to find the possibility of DSOM (Diagnosis System of Oriental Medicine) as a diagnostic method according to alcohol intake. Method : 49 men who drink alcohol over 40g per day and whose AUDIT scores were over 12 were allocated to the drinker group. 30 men who do not drink alcohol at all were allocated to the control (non-drinker) group. The study period was from June 15, 2006 to September 30, 2008. All of both groups were analyzed using DSOM. Result : There were some differences between the drinker group and the non-drinker group in stagnation of Ki(氣滯), deficiency of Yin(陰虛), insufficiency of Yang(陽虛), heat syndrome(熱), dryness (燥), and lung(肺). A group whose gamma-GTP is over twice the normal condition shows meaningful difference in stagnation of Ki(氣滯), heat syndrome(熱), dryness(燥), and insufficiency of Yang(陽虛). Conclusion : We found out that DSOM can be a diagnostic method on alcoholic liver disease patients. However, other studies to supplement it should be continued.

  • The distribution logistics center has its own inventory, so designing an efficient storage area is very important. The purpose of this study is to present the optimal storage area calculation method for distribution logistics center considering the use of standard pallet unit load, and the results of this study are as follows. First, standard rack modules for storing T-11 and T-12 type pallet, which is generally used in Korea, were defined. Second, a variety of pallet transport equipments were investigated and analyzed to define the standard transport equipment's work passageway by type. Finally, it has great implications in terms of suggesting measures to minimize unused space that may occur during placement of pallet rack modules within storage space, as well as the easy and optimal calculation of the storage area for the distribution logistics center. Future research require a study on the layout of the entire distribution logistics center, which reflects the latest logistics technologies, such as standard rack modules for Mini-Load and GTP picking system.

  • Since conventional massive antenna systems require too many RF chains, they have disadvantages of high implementation cost and complexity. To overcome this problem, hybrid precoding schemes have been proposed. But, they are still of high implementation cost and complexity because RF chains are connected to all antenna elements. In this paper, we consider massive MIMO systems with overlapped sub-array (OSA) structure and then, propose a hybrid precoding scheme. In the overlapped subarray structure, RF analog precoding matrix has a sparse structure where many elements of RF analog precoding matrix are zeros. Using this sparse property, we propose a GTP-based precoder design method for RF and baseband digital precoding. Through simulation, we show that the proposed scheme has more than 85% of the spectral efficiency of the fully-connected structure while having 20~30% of complexity of it.

  • Objectives : We investigated differances of physiological functionalities in the steamed Schisandrae Fructus. Methods : The samples were extracts of dryed schisandrae fructus without steaming process (S0), extracts of schisandrae fructus with three times steamed (S3), extracts of schisandrae fructus with five times steamed (S5) and extracts of schisandrae fructus with seven times steamed (S7). We analyzed contents of schisandrin, gomisin, total polyphenol and flavonoid and antioxidant activities. We researched antiinflammation effects for Raw264.7 cells. To evaluate liver protective activity, we measured AST, ALT and gamma-GTP in serum of alcoholic mice. Results : As the steaming number of schisandrae fructus increase, the contents of schisandrin and gomisin were more increased. The contents of total polyphenol of S5 and S7 were significantly increased compared to that of S0. DPPH free radical scavenging activities of S5 and S7 were significantly increased compared to that of S0, ABST radical scavenging activities of S3 and S5 were significantly increased compared to that of S0 in vitro. The NO production of all sample was significantly decreased compared to control, PGE2 release of S3, S5 and S7 were significantly decreased compared to control. IL-$1{\beta}$ release of S5 and S7 were significantly decreased. AST, ALT and gamma-GTP of S3, S5 and S7 were significantly decreased compared to control. Conclusions : We think that extracts of schisandrae fructus with steaming process may have more potential efficacy than a schisandrae fructus without steaming process.
