This study is concerned with the development of efficient p-median approach to nondegenerate cell formation(CF) in group technology(GT) manufacturing. Unlike most of existing CF methodologies allowing degenerate cells or families that contains no parts or machines, this study attempts to find cell configuration where each machine cell contains at least two or more machines processing at least two or more parts so as to fully utilize the similarity in designing and processing parts. Nondegenerate CF seeks to minimize both the exceptional elements outside the diagonal block and the voids within the diagonal block. To find nondegenerate cells, a two-phase p-median methodology is proposed. In phase 1, the classical p-median model is implemented to find initial cells. In phase 2, bottleneck machines and parts are reassigned until no further degenerate cells and families are found. Test results on moderately medium-sized CF problems show the substantial efficiency of the proposed approach.

Strain 88-GT-161 producing new phthalic acid derivative and basic macrolide antibiotics was identified as being S. melanosporofuciens based on numerical taxonomic data. However, 4 unit characters among 139 units were clearly different from the common properties of 6 strains belonging to cluster No. 32 represented by the name of S. violaceoniger or S. violaceusniger, leading us to designate as a variety of S. melunosporofaciens. This paper describes the taxonomic characteristics of the strain. Isolation and chemical structures, including biological activities of the active compounds produced by this strain will be presented elsewhere.

This research was performed to investigate the dynamics of microbial community by RBC (Rotating Biological Contactor) using Rhodococcus sp. EL-GT and activated sludge. Cell counts revealed by DAPI were compared with culturable bacterial counts from nutrient agar. Colony counts on nutrient agar gave values 20~25% and 1~15% of cell counts (DAPI). The cell counts for the dynamics of bacterial community were determined by combination of in situ hybridization with fluorescently-labelled oligonyucleotide probes and epifluorescence microscopy. Around 90~80% of total cells visualized DAPI were also detected by the bacteria probe EUB 338. For both reactors proteobacteria belonging to the gamma subclass were dominant in the first stage (1 and 2 stage) and proteobacteria belonging to the gamma subclass were dominant in the last stage (3 and 4 stage).

본 연구는 방향족 화합물질 중 페놀폐수에 대한 생물학적 처리를 위해 본 실험실에서 분리한 페놀분해능이 우수한 Rhodococcus sp. EL-GT를 이용하여 catechol 분해 catechol 1,2-dioxygenase 분해활성을 측정하였고, 이것이 ortho-pathway임을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 다른 연구에서 보고된 Rhodococrus rhodochrous NCIMB 13259 균주의 catechol 1,2 dioxygenase를 기초로한 primer를 이용하여 PCR을 수행하였으며 이 분해 유전자의 cloning실험을 수행 중이다. 이들 실험을 통하여 Rhodoroccus sp. EL-GT의 페놀분해 균의 유전적 구조 및 특성을 검토하고 이를 이용하여 방향족 화합물의 분해능이 보다 우수한 균주의 개발을 시도하고자 한다.

This study investigates the influence of cane length on the weight distribution of the elderly in a standing position. Thirty participants were evaluated using two different cane lengths based on measurements of distal wrist crease to ground (WC cane), and distance of greater trochanter to ground (GT cane). A limloader was used to determine the weight distribution on the subject. It was found that 6.5% of body weight was supported on a GT cane and 7.7% of body weight supported on a WC cane in a standing position. Results suggests that more weight is distributed on a WC cane than a GT cane in the elderly.

The strengthened regulations for atmospheric emissions from ships like MARPOL Annex VI have caused a necessity of new, alternative power system in ships for the low pollutant emissions and the high energy efficiency. This paper attempts to investigate the configuration of SOFC/GT hybrid power system for LNG tanker taking into account the safety and to analyze the influence of design parameters on the system performance. The simulation results provide the basic data for the design and efficiency improvement of SOFC/GT hybrid system and indicate the guidelines for the safe system operation.

A system, IS-95C coupler that combines the signals of IS-95A/B and IS-95C BTS and compensates the differences between the signals of two systems and connected to optical repeater If no IS-95C coupler exist, Optical repeater can't service of signal balanced. A system carries on combination, amplification, level modulation function of the TX signals(IS-95A/B & IS-95C) and division and level modulation function of the RX signals. Isolation satisfied above 100dB.

As the electric system is getting larger to meet the increasing demand for electric power, the rating of power apparatus is becoming inevitably higher in its working voltage and larger in its capacity. According to KEPCO reports, power transformers in the KEPCO system have undergone troubles such as winding short insulation breakdowns every year since 1981. the cause of this troubles were high one line grounding fault currents in KEPCO systems that had direct grounding systems. KEPCO has installed the NGR(neutral grounding reactor) to lower this fault current and reduced winding short insulation breakdowns in power transformers. But when a circuit breaker opened a no load bus, some trips of circuit breakers for protecting transformer have occurred by mal-operation of 59GT(overvoltage ground relay) that detect disconnection of NGR. Therefore, in this paper, we analyzed the cause and examined the effect of time delav circuit to prevent wrong operation of 59GT.

The objective of this study was to compare the apical shaping ability of the ProFile .04 taper, Lightspeed and HERO 642 rotary instruments and to assess the combined effect of GT Rotary files to Lightspeed and HERO 642 instruments. Forty-eight resin simulated root canal blocks divided into 4 groups with 12 canals. Forty-eight blocks were prepared by one operator with GT Rotary files using a high torque handpiece at 300 rpm. Thirty-six blocks in the three experimental groups were prepared with ProFile 04 taper file, Lightspeed file, HERO 642 file.(omitted)

The classification and coding of part for group technology applications continus to be labour intensive and time-consuming process, and therefore much effort is dedicated to the structure and creation of automatic coding systems. IN this paper, Neural networks is used to generate processes-related digit as well as part geometry-related digit of the TS code where part name is provided as input.since part name, which is appropriately designated, provides much information about part geometry and manufacturing processes. THe developed GT recommendation system is integrated with interactive TS coding system and database in order to handle the changes of production environment, such as the change of production part of plant. It is found to recommend codes accurately and promises to be a useful tool for consistent, reliable and convenient coding processes.
