  • Because there is no suspension and differential devices at cart body, the deformation of the frame happened during kart driving affects the driving performance caused by the elastic deformation and the fatigue life of kart frame resulted from the permanent deformation. The dynamic behavior of kart caused by the torsional deformation during circular driving is the important factor of these two kinds of deformations. In order to analyze the dynamic behavior of kart at this curved section, GPS is used to trace the track of kart and the torsional stress at kart-frame has been measured with real time. The mechanical properties of kart-frames for leisure and racing are investigated through material property analysis and tensile test. Torsional stress concentration and frame distortion are investigated through stress analysis on frame on the basis of study result. The real karts for leisure and racing kart are also tested in each driving condition by using the driving analysis equipment. The driving behavior of kart at the curved section are investigated through this test. As the phenomenon of load movement due to centrifugal force at car is happened during circular driving, the torsional stress occurs at cart steel frame.

  • Korea Earthquake Monitoring System(KEMS) in the Korea Institute of Geology Mining and Materials(KIGAM) as detected more than 1000 events since the end of 1998. But not all events are interpreted as earthquakes because many events are concentrated on daytime. It strongly implies that in addition to earthquake these events include artificial effects such as industrial blasting. Before the determination of eathquake charactertistics in the korean peninsula it is necessary to discriminate the detected events as earthquakes or artificial events. For the discriminant study KIGAM and SMU(Southern Methodist University) installed a triangular four-element 1-km aperture seismo-acoustic array at Chul-Won area northeast of Seoul Korea. Each array element includes a GS-13 seismometer in the bottom of borehole and a Validyne DP250-14 microbarometer sensor mounted inside of the borehole 1,2 meter deep connected to a 11 arm radial array of 10m porous soaker hoses. This array introduce the use of 2.4-GHz radios for inter-array self-contained solar-charged power system and GPS time-keeping system. A 24-bit digital data acquisition system performs 40 SPS in the infrasound and seismometer data. Velocity and direction of wind and temperature are also measured at hub site and included to the data stresam. This seismo-acoustic array will be used to identify and locate associated with industrial blasting and these identified and located events will be applied to form a ground truth database useful to assist the other development of discriminant studies.

  • In the paper, we propose an improved mobility method of modular robots by physical docking in the uneven environments. The modular robot system consists of autonomous docking device, 3 DOF robotic arm, motion controller, and main controller. Real-time location and direction of the robot are estimated using inner GPS and they are used to control direction and path of each robot for physical docking between modular robots. We design a navigation algorithm of modular robot using physical docking and cooperative navigation in the environment with broken road and low stair. The proposed method is verified by navigation experiments of three developed modular robots in the uneven environments.

  • According to the economic growth, many highways are constructed for increasing need of better life style. Especially roads and roadside facilities are used for accident prevention and offering mobility for drivers. For these purpose, roads and roadside facilities should be well maintained and managed. Now, many roads and roadside facilities are constructed in many areas. Because of traditional surveying method requires much time and surveying efforts, we designed and developed mobile mapping system for highway maintenance and management purpose using multi sensors. We tested our mobile mapping system and data management process. Using developed database, road managers can easily check the information of facility conditions, positions, and attributes. We are expecting low cost and efficient road maintenance process by using our system.

  • Presented in this paper was to evaluate and improve the usability of a web-based logistics information system. The system was developed for the domestic company to track and monitor its own transportation vehicles and for the customers to check the current location of their packages by using Global Positioning System (GPS) and Short Massage Service (SMS). Since the initial system was developed under a tight schedule set by the company, the system designers and programmers did not focus on the usability of the system but on the functionality. Consequently, some usability problems of the system were discovered during the heuristic usability evaluation. This study was required to solve these usability issues. Usability problems of the initial system were identified and analyzed, and the user's requirements for the system were re-evaluated to meet the company's expectation. Several alternative designs were developed by fitted guidelines and then a updated system was developed. The updated system had an empirical usability test to find how much the initial system was improved from the heuristic evaluation. Two kinds of data were gathered during the tests: objective (completion time and number of errors) and subjects' preference. Data showed the updated system is better than the initial system in terms of usability. Presented in this paper includes introduction of the Usability evaluation, usability engineering process applied in this research, alternative design of GUI, usability test and results.

  • The drifters of the Global Drifter Program were deployed in the northern East Sea for two years from March 2015 to compare and validate currents estimated from sea-level measurements with the SARAL/AltiKa altimetry satellite mission, specially designed to accurately measure sea level in the near-coastal area. The collocated (less than 20 km apart) directly measured current from GPS locations every 30 minutes and the currents normal to the satellite tracks show a similar correlation in the area shallower than 200 m depth as the open ocean and it makes it possible to investigate the time variations of the current along the coast in the northern East sea, where direct observations of current are scarce. The Liman Current along the Siberian coast is found to be southward all year round, but the North Korean Cold Current flows southward only in the summer. The North Korean Cold Current south of the Musudan cape mostly flows to the south, but the current direction depends on the presence of an eddy around the coast of Musudan cape.

  • Today, many smart sensor's measurement instruments are used to check the safety situation of various medium and large bridge structures that should be maintained in the construction facilities, but most of them use the method of measuring and confirming the displacement behavior of the bridge at regular intervals. In order to continuously check the safety situation, various measuring instruments are used, but most of them are not able to measure and measure the displacement and behavior of main construction structures at regular intervals. In this study, GNSS and environment smart sensors and drone's image data are transmitted to wireless network so that risk of many bridge's structures can be detected beforehand. As a result, by diagnosing the fine displacement of the bridge in real time and its condition, reinforcement, repair and disaster prevention measures for the structural parts of the bridges, which are expected to be dangerous, and various disasters and accidents can be prevented, and disaster can be prevented could suggest a new alternative.

  • This study presents a methodology that can integrate the information generated by the Busan taxi DTGs and Tachometers. Utilizing the results by the methodology, travel patterns of taxi users were analyzed. Also to verify the reliability of the methodology was conducted by comparing its results with those of O-D information of the National Transportation DB (KTDB). Despite the limited number of samples. the results of this study showed that DTG data, which can reflect changes in status and conditions in real time, can be used as a replacement for KTDB. It is expected that the results generated by the suggested methodology can be useful for developing and executing desirable taxi related policies.
