  • This paper describes the determination of geoid using height data measured by GPS and Spirit Levelling. The GPS data of the 88 stations were used to determine the geoid undulation (N) which can be easily obtained by subtracting the orthometric height(H) from the ellipsoidal height(h). From the geoid undulation (N) calculated at each station mentioned above, geoid plots with a contour interval of 0.25 m were drawn using two interpolation methods. The following interpolation methods were applied and compared with each other: Minimum Curvature Method and Least Squares Fitted Plane. Comparison between geometric geoid and gravimetric geoid undulation by FFT technique was carried out.

  • This study was performed to establish PC-based Urban Infrastructure Information System(UIIS) using GPS and TotalStation as an alternative to UNIX-based UIIS. After carryig out this study, the following conclusions were derived: PC-based UIIS costs less time and money than UNIX-based UIIS. The coordinates of the control point of the site were obtained using DGPS, then based on this point, locational data were obtained using RTK GPS and TotalStation in the site with realtime data capture to enhance the accuracy of locational data. And image data were also entered into database together with the text data. So, the multimedia database is possible in UIIS.

  • In general, the transformation of coordinates in GPS is carried out by 3 dimensional transformation method with 3-10 parameter. In korea, the coordinates of transformation points ware determined are adjusted in-dependently by planimetry and the height, and also the weight of observations were not properly applied to the adjustment. In this study, two different transformation methods are tested and analysed by the field test, and it is finally found that 2 dimensional method is more efficient way than 3 dimensional classical transformation method.

  • Since the GPS absolute positioning with pseudorange measurements can significantly be affected by the observation error, the time series analysis of the GPS receiver clock errors was performed in this study. From the estimated receiver clock errors, the time series model is generated, and constrained back in the absolute positioning process. One of the CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Stations) network is used to analyze the behavior of the receiver clock. The dominant part of the model is the linear trend during 24 hours, and the seasonal component is also estimated. After constraining the modeled receiver clock errors, the estimated position error compared to the published coordinates is improved from ${\pm}11.4\;m\;to\;{\pm}9.5\;m$ in 3D RMS.

  • Recently, it has been partly attempted to measure behavior of large-sized bridge using GPS, but it is accomplished at the first step and unsystemically. The purpose of this research is to measure bridge behavior by Kinematic On The Fly (OTF) technique of GPS. The results of this study show that bridge behavior can be measured easily and conveniently in three dimension, monitored at the real time, and measured continuously without a break by OTF Technique of GPS.

  • Continuously monitoring of Horizontal and Vertical movements in vulnerable areas due to earthquakes and volcanic activities is vital. These geohazard activities are the result of a slow deformation rate at the tectonic plate boundaries. The recent development of GPS (Global Positioning System) technology has made it possible to attain a millimeter level changes in the Earth's crust. This study used continuously observed GPS data at the flank of Ol Doinyo Lengai volcanic Mountain to determine crustal motion caused by impinging volcano from mantle convention. We analyzed 8 GPS observed from June 2016 to Dec 2019 using a well-documented Global Kalman Filter GAMIT/GLOBK software. The resulting velocity from GAMIT/GLOBK analysis was then used to compute the relative motion of our study area with respect to Nubia plate. Our analysis discovered a minor motion of less than 5mm/year in both horizontal and vertical components.
