Network-RTK GNSS for Land Vehicle Navigation Application (Network-RTK GPS 기반 자동차 정밀 위치 추정)

  • These days land vehicle navigation system is a subject of great interest. The GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) is the most popular technology for out door positioning. However, The GNSS is incapable of providing high accuracy and reliable positioning. For that reason, we applied Network-RTK in vehicle to improve the accuracy of GNSS performance. In this network-RTK mode, the GNSS error are significantly decreased. In this paper, we explain ntrip client program for network-RTK mode and show the result of experiments in various environments.

Network Configuration Design of GNSS Receiving Station for Optimizing Performance of Precise Positioning (정밀 위치결정 성능 최적화를 위한 위성항법 수신국 네트워크 구성)

  • In this paper, requirements of GNSS receiver station installation are derived for optimizing the performance of network based GNSS precise positioning by concern of international organization(IGS, NGS) recommendation. Also a analysis method of network based GNSS precise positioning is suggested in order to evaluate the availability depending on various network configurations. To evaluate network candidates, a performance evaluation method is proposed for positioning of users according to a geometric configuration and the baseline distance. After the proposed method is used to Ochang region that is a the test area 6 network candidates are derived and the performance of positioning was analyzed. Finally, Ansung, Gongju, Eumsung, Boeun network configuration was selected as the best positioning performance. An optimal Receiving station network was selected using the proposed method.

Long Short-Term Memory Network for INS Positioning During GNSS Outages: A Preliminary Study on Simple Trajectories

  • This paper presents a novel Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network architecture for the integration of an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). The proposed algorithm consists of two independent LSTM networks and the LSTM networks are trained to predict attitudes and velocities from the sequence of IMU measurements and mechanization solutions. In this paper, three GNSS receivers are used to provide Real Time Kinematic (RTK) GNSS attitude and position information of a vehicle, and the information is used as a target output while training the network. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated with both experimental and simulation data using a lowcost IMU and three RTK-GNSS receivers. The test results showed that the proposed LSTM network could improve positioning accuracy by more than 90% compared to the position solutions obtained using a conventional Kalman filter based IMU/GNSS integration for more than 30 seconds of GNSS outages.

  • Providing real-time location information is emerging as a major goal of the national industry. In order to provide such real-time location information (3D spatial information), it is essential to develop a technology for a satellite positioning method. Therefore, the country continues to make efforts to increase satisfaction with the needs of consumers by introducing the Network RTK GNSS method. In this study, among the Network RKT GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) methods provided by the National Geographic Information Service, continuous observation and single observation were measured at the integrated reference point using VRS(Virtual Reference Station) and FKP(Flӓachen-Korrektur Parameter) to evaluate accuracy. In addition, we aim to maximize efficiency by presenting accuracy on the rapidly increasing Network RTK GNSS method in the field.

Evaluation of Network-RTK Survey Accuracy for Applying to Ground Control Points Survey (지상기준점측량 적용을 위한 Network-RTK 측량 정확도 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of Network-RTK(VRS) survey for applying to Ground Control Points(GCPs) survey required for mapping aerial photographs. Network-RTK has been serviced by National Geographic Information Institute since 2007. On the basis of the global coordinates system(ITRF2000), the coordinates of GCPs determined by Static GNSS survey with relative positioning techniques were regarded as accurate values. The coordinates of GCPs were also determined by Network-RTK survey using two kinds of receivers, and then they were converted into the global coordinates system(ITRF2000) by applying suitable geoid model and coordinate transformation. These coordinates of GCPs were compared with those from Static GNSS survey. The root mean squares error (RMSE) of coordinate differences between Network-RTK and Static GNSS was ${\pm}2.0cm$ in plane and ${\pm}7.0cm$ in height. Therefore, Network-RTK survey that enables single GNSS receiver to measure positions in short time is a practical alternative in positioning GCPs to either RTK survey that uses more than two sets of GNSS receivers or Static GNSS survey that requires longer observation time.

A Study on Utilization of NTRIP Data Delivery and Virtual RINEX from Seoul Metro Government Network-RTK System (서울특별시 네트워크 RTK 시스템의 NTRIP 데이터 전송 및 Virtual RINEX의 활용)

  • Since January 2009, Seoul Metro Government(SMG) is operating own Network RTK Systems connecting four(4) GNSS Reference Stations which are installed inside Seoul Metro City area. SMG is currently providing VRS data service via wireless internet for Network-RTK and RINEX data observed from GNSS Reference Stations. This paper will discuss utilization of data available from SMG Network-RTK System for various applications, and present the test results on practicalities of Virtual RINEX data. For the utilization of data available from SMG Network- RTK system, 1)NTRIP data delivery of GNSS realtime observables streaming and converting to RINEX at receiving side, 2) monitoring deformation of bulky structures using GNSS observation were discussed. In addition to those discussion, 3) broadcasting VRS correction data for job site via radio modem after acquiring such correction data on-line using NTRIP based GNSS Internet Radio from SMG Network-RTK System were introduced. For the test results on practicalities of Virtual RINEX data, 1) the post-processing results of the GNSS observation data on a certain point with GNSS Reference Station data have been compared to the post-processing results of Virtual RINEX data on the same point generated from SMG Network-RTK System, and 2) VRS RTK positioning results for a certain point and post-processing results of Virtual RINEX data for the point were compared. The results showed only a few mm difference, and the high possibility for using Virtual RINEX data for post-processing applications.

A Study on Simultaneous Adjustment of GNSS Baseline Vectors and Terrestrial Measurements

  • GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is mostly used for high-precise surveys due to its accuracy and efficiency. But this technique does not always fulfill the demanding accuracy in harsh operational environments such as urban canyon and forest. One of the remedies for overcoming this barrier is to compose a heterogeneous surveying network by adopting terrestrial measurements (i.e., distances and angles). Hence, this study dealt with the adjustment of heterogeneous surveying networks consisted of GNSS baseline vectors, distances, horizontal and vertical angles with a view to enhancing their accuracy and so as to derive an appropriate scheme of the measurement combination. Reviewing some technical issues of the network adjustments, the simulation, and experimental studies have been carried out, showing that the inclusion of the terrestrial measurements in the GNSS standalone overall increased the accuracy of the adjusted coordinates. Especially, if the distances, the horizontal angles, or both of them were simultaneously adjusted with GNSS baselines, the accuracy of the GNSS horizontal component was improved. Comparing the inclusion of the horizontal angles with those of the distances, the former has been more influential on accuracy than the latter even though the same number of measurements were employed in the network. On the other hand, results of the GNSS network adjustment together with the vertical angles demonstrated the enhancement of the vertical accuracy. As conclusion, this paper proposes a simultaneous adjustment of GNSS baselines and the terrestrial measurements for an effective scheme that overcomes the limitation of GNSS control surveys.

Time Synchronization Technique for GNSS Jamming Monitoring Network System (GNSS 재밍 신호 모니터링 네트워크 시스템을 위한 독립된 GNSS 수신기 간 시각 동기화 기법)

  • Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers are intrinsically vulnerable to radio frequency jamming signals due to the fundamental property of radio navigation systems. A GNSS jamming monitoring system that is capable of jamming detection, classification and localization is essential for infrastructure for autonomous driving systems. For these 3 functionalities, a GNSS jamming monitoring network consisting of a multiple of low-cost GNSS receivers distributed in a certain area is needed, and the precise time synchronizaion between multiple independent GNSS receivers in the network is an essential element. This paper presents a precise time synchronization method based on the direct use of Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) technique in signal domain. A block interpolation method is additionally incorporated into the method in order to maintain the precision of time synchronization even with the relatively low sampling rate of the received signals for computational efficiency. The feasibility of the proposed approach is verified in the numerical simualtions.

Impact of Trivial Baseline into GNSS Network Adjustment (GNSS 망조정에 종속기선이 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the impact of trivial baselines obtained from GNSS single-baseline processing into a network adjustment in terms of accuracy and estimated coordinates sets. To this end, depending on the inclusion of the dependent baselines, three different types of experimental GNSS networks were composed and adjusted. The results showed that the networks including the trivial baselines are generally overestimated, but differences in the derived coordinates are limited at the millimeter level. A comparison of the adjusted coordinates with those published by the national geodetic agency showed that results of the network consisting of only the independent baselines are more constant than those of the networks with trivial baselines. Finally, a trivial baseline should be excluded from the GNSS network adjustment with a consideration of the realistic accuracy presentation and data processing burden.

Development of MATLAB GUI Based Software for Generating Multi-GNSS Network RTK MAC Correction (MATLAB GUI 기반 다중 위성군 Network RTK MAC 보정정보 생성 소프트웨어 개발)

  • In this paper, multi-GNSS network RTK MAC correction generation software developed based on MATLAB GUI is introduced. The software was developed as a post-processing software based on simulation data to evaluate the feasibility of an algorithm for generating correction for multi-GNSS including GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo. As a result of software operation, network RTK correction for each system of multi-GNSS is output in MATLAB file format. In this paper, to evaluate the performance of the developed software, the residual error was analyzed after applying the correction generated through the software to the user. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that effective network RTK correction could be generated by confirming that the residual errors of users were maintained at 10 cm or less.
