  • In this paper we consider a fuzzy least absolute deviation method in order to construct fuzzy linear regression model with fuzzy input and fuzzy output. We also consider two numerical examples to evaluate an effectiveness of the fuzzy least absolute deviation method and the fuzzy least squares method.

  • The results of fuzzy linear regression are very sensitive to irregular data. When this points exist in a set of data, a fuzzy linear regression model can be incorrectly interpreted. The purpose of this paper is to detect irregular data and to propose robust fuzzy linear regression based on M-estimators with triangular fuzzy regression coefficients for crisp input-output data. Numerical example shows that irregular data can be detected by using the residuals based on M-estimators, and the proposed robust fuzzy linear regression is very resistant to this points.

  • This paper concerns Fuzzy Radial Basis Function Neural Network (FRBFNN) and automatic rule generation of extraction of the FRBFNN by means of mountain clustering. In the proposed network, the membership functions of the premise part of fuzzy rules do not assume any explicit functional forms such as Gaussian, ellipsoidal, triangular, etc., so its resulting fitness values (degree of membership) directly rely on the computation of the relevant distance between data points. Also, we consider high-order polynomial as the consequent part of fuzzy rules which represent input-output characteristic of sup-space. The number of clusters and the centers of clusters are automatically generated by using mountain clustering method based on the density of data. The centers of cluster which are obtained by using mountain clustering are used to determine a degree of membership and weighted least square estimator (WLSE) is adopted to estimate the coefficients of the consequent polynomial of fuzzy rules. The effectiveness of the proposed model have been investigated and analyzed in detail for the representative nonlinear function.

  • In this paper, the Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy state estimation scheme, which is suggested for a steady state estimator using standard Kalman filter theory with uncertainties. In that case, the steady state with uncertain can be represented by the TS fuzzy model structure, which is further rearranged to give a set of uncertain linear model using standard Kalman filter theory. And then the unknown uncertainty is regarded as an additive process noise. To optimize fuzzy system, we utilize the genetic algorithm. The steady state solutions can be found for proposed linear model then the linear combination is used to derive a global model. The proposed state estimator is demonstrated on a truck-trailer.

  • This paper proposes an Intelligent Speed Estimator in order to realize the speed-sensorless vector control of an induction motor. Intelligent Speed Estimator used Model Reference Adaptive System which has Fuzzy-Neural adaptive mechanism as Speed Estimation method. The Intelligent Speed Estimator estimates the speed of an induction motor with a rotor flux of a reference model and adjustable model in MRAS. The Intelligent Speed Estimator reduces the error of the rotor flux between the voltage flux model and the current flux model using the error and the change of error as input of the Estimator. The computer simulation is executed to verify the propriety and the effectiveness of the proposed speed estimator.

  • Regression Analysis is an analyzing method of regression model to explain the statistical relationship between explanatory variable and response variables. This paper introduce Theil's method to find a fuzzy regression model which explain the relationship between explanatory variable and response variables. Theil's method is a robust method which is not sensive to outliers. Theil's method use medians of rate of increment based on randomly chosen pairs of each components of ${\alpha}$-level sets of fuzzy data in order to estimate the coefficients of fuzzy regression model. We propose an example to show Theil's estimator is robust than the Least squares estimator.

  • Tip position control of a flexible cantilever is difficult due to the non-minimum phase dynamics that result from the finite propagating speed of a mechanical wave along the cantilever. In this paper, we propose a method for the tip position control using a light and cheap accelerometer that does not bring any significant change to the dynamics of the cantilever system. The linear system identification model of the flexible cantilever is obtained with measurements by a laser displacement sensor. A Kalman estimator is designed with this model and calculates the estimated tip position with the acceleration data of the accelerometer that is attached on the tip of the cantilever. To verify reliability of the estimator, the estimated tip position is used to the feedback control system that uses a fuzzy logic controller. The control results are compared with those of the fuzzy control system where the real tip position is measured by a laser displacement sensor. Also, the performance of the estimator with the accelerometer is presented and discussed.

  • The paper concerns Fuzzy C-Means clustering based Radial Basis Function neural networks (FCM-RBFNN) and the optimization of the network is carried out by means of Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO). FCM-RBFNN is the extended architecture of Radial Basis Function Neural Network(RBFNN). In the proposed network, the membership functions of the premise part of fuzzy rules do not assume any explicit functional forms such as Gaussian, ellipsoidal, triangular, etc., so its resulting fitness values directly rely on the computation of the relevant distance between data points by means of FCM. Also, as the consequent part of fuzzy rules extracted by the FCM - RBFNN model, the order of four types of polynomials can be considered such as constant, linear, quadratic and modified quadratic. Weighted Least Square Estimator(WLSE) are used to estimates the coefficients of polynomial. Since the performance of FCM-RBFNN is affected by some parameters of FCM-RBFNN such as a specific subset of input variables, fuzzification coefficient of FCM, the number of rules and the order of polynomials of consequent part of fuzzy rule, we need the structural as well as parametric optimization of the network. In this study, the PSO is exploited to carry out the structural as well as parametric optimization of FCM-RBFNN. Moreover The proposed model is demonstrated with the use of numerical example and gas furnace data set.
