  • Capacities of a tandem-type air-conditioner may be modulated by turning on and off of multiple compressors, and adjusting the position of a electronic expansion valve. In this study, control algorithms for compressors and a electronic expansion valve were developed by using fuzzy logics. The pressure control algorithm was also developed for the safe operation of compressors.   • A pneumatic cylinder has been used in the production facilities of various industries. However, it is difficult to achieve deciding the precise position of the piston rod, due to the nonlinear properties arising from the air compression and the friction. In recent years, the fuzzy control algorithm has been frequently applied to various kinds of systems on account of its simple algorithm, good adaptability to complex or nonlinear systems and so on. On the other hand, the PID or I-PD control has been used in many engineering fields because of the excellent performance. However, it is known that each one of them has disadvantages. In this paper, we propose a hybrid control which is strived to obtain the advantages of each other. It is shown that the proposed hybrid control performs better than the conventional I-PD control through the experimental results.

Position Control of Shape Memory Alloy Actuators Using Self Tuning Fuzzy PID Controller

  • Shape Memory Alloy(SMA) actuators, which have the ability to return to a predetermined shape when heated, have many potential applications such as aeronautics, surgical tools, robotics and so on. Although the conventional PID controller can be used with slow response systems, there has been limited success in precise motion control of SMA actuators, since the systems are disturbed by unknown factors beside their inherent nonlinear hysteresis and changes in the surrounding environment of the systems. This paper presents a new development of a SMA position control system by using a self-tuning fuzzy PID controller. This control algorithm is used by tuning the parameters of the PID controller thereby integrating fuzzy inference and producing a fuzzy adaptive PID controller, which can then be used to improve the control performance of nonlinear systems. The experimental results of position control of SMA actuators using conventional and self-tuning fuzzy PID controllers are both included in this paper.

  • In this paper, fuzzy control algorithm for the speed ratio control of the electro-hydraulic rig type continuously variable transmission(CVT) was proposed and the CVT performance tests were carried out for the optimal operation of the engine simulator. The experimental results for the constant throttle and the acceleration modes showed that the engine can be run on the optimum operating line, representing the power and economy mode, by the fuzzy control of the CVT speed ratio. Comparing the PID control with the fuzzy control, it was found that the fuzzy control showed better performance with the faster rising time and smaller steady state error. The result of this study can be used as basic design materials for developing the transmission control unit of the CVT.

  • 본 논문에서는 고전적인 슬라이딩 모드 제어에서 단점으로 나타나는 채터링을 감소시키고 도달 시간을 줄이기 위한 적응 퍼지 슬라이딩 모드 제어기를 제안하였다. 전문가의 경험이나 직관에 주로 의존하는 제어 규칙의 획득을 쉽게 하기 위해 최대 경사법을 이용하여 슬라이딩 모드 조건이 만족되면서 채터링 현상을 줄이기 위한 제어 규칙의 결론부 파라미터를 수정하는 적응 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 고전적인 가변 구조 제어 시스템의 장점인 외란, 매개변수 변화와 불확실성에 둔감한 성질을 그대로 간직하고 있다. 제안한 알고리즘의 유용성을 보이기 위해 도립 진자 시스템에 적용한 결과 채터링 감소와 빠른 응답 특성을 얻을 수 있다.

  • The paper proposes a novel control algorithm for tracking maximum power of PV generation system. The maximum power of PV array is determinated by a insolation and temperature. Prior considered the term in PV generation system is how maximum power point is accurately tracked. The paper proposes a FNN(Fuzzy Neural-Network) control algorithm so as to accurately track those maximum power points. The proposed control algorithm comprises the antecedence part of fuzzy rule and clustering method, multi-layer neural network in the consequent part. FNN has the advantages which are depicted both high performance and robustness in Fuzzy control and high adaptive control in Neural Network. Specially, it can show the outstanding control performance for parameter variations appling to non-linear character of PV array. In paper, the tracking speed and the accuracy prove the validity through comparing a proposed algorithm with a conventional one.

  • Recently the fuzzy control is widely used as a tool for constructing automatic control systems which can replace the manual operation of large-scale nonlinear plants. In most applications of the fuzzy control however it is hard to meet the requirement of the operation time. In some real-time control the fuzzy control scheme requires too much computing time for fuzzification inference and defuzzification. To reduce the computing time there may be two alternatives the development of a new operation algorithm and the design of high-speed fuzzy hardware. In this paper to solve the problem of reducing the fuzzy operation time we propose a new high-speed fuzzy hardware scheme which has merits of its generality and extensibility. Finally we verify the proposed fuzzy hardware.

  • In this paper, Fuzzy-Neural Network Control system that has the characteristic of fuzzy control to be controlled easily end the good characteristic of a artificial neural network to control the plant due to its learning is presented. A fuzzy rule to be applied is selected automatically by the allocated neurons. The neurons correspond to Fuzzy rules which ere created by a expert. To adaptivity, the more precise modeling is implemented by error beck-propagation learning of adjusting the link-weight of fuzzy membership function in Fuzzy-Neural Network. The more classified fuzzy rule is used to include the property of Dual Mode Method. To test the effectiveness of the algorithm presented above, the simulation for position end velocity of DC servo motor is implemented.

Maximum Torque Control of an IPMSM Drive Using an Adaptive Learning Fuzzy-Neural Network

  • The interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) has been widely used in electric vehicle applications due to its excellent power to weigh ratio. This paper proposes the maximum torque control of an IPMSM drive using an adaptive learning (AL) fuzzy neural network (FNN) and an artificial neural network (ANN). This control method is applicable over the entire speed range while taking into consideration the limits of the inverter's rated current and voltage. This maximum torque control is an executed control through an optimal d-axis current that is calculated according to the operating conditions. This paper proposes a novel technique for the high performance speed control of an IPMSM using AL-FNN and ANN. The AL-FNN is a control algorithm that is a combination of adaptive control and a FNN. This control algorithm has a powerful numerical processing capability and a high adaptability. In addition, this paper proposes the speed control of an IPMSM using an AL-FNN, the estimation of speed using an ANN and a maximum torque control using the optimal d-axis current according to the operating conditions. The proposed control algorithm is applied to an IPMSM drive system. This paper demonstrates the validity of the proposed algorithms through result analysis based on experiments under various operating conditions.

  • This paper presents the introduction of Pseudo-2 axes robot module and its GA-based fuzzy control implementation. Pseudo-2 axes robot module which use a single motor and controller for driving 2 joints of a robot mechanism, is devised towards a lower priced robot with its degree of freedom maintained GA-based Fuzzy controller is considered for the better control implementation of the developed system than the conventional PID controller. Here. the scaling factors of the membership function with high fitness values are selected using a genetic algorithm for a pulse-type input trajectory. The obtained controller also shows better trajectory tracking performance than a PID controller.
