  • Kernel methods have shown to improve the performance of conventional linear classification algorithms for complex distributed data sets, as mapping the data in input space into a higher dimensional feature space(7). In this paper, we propose a fuzzy kernel K-nearest neighbor(fuzzy kernel K-NN) algorithm, which applies the distance measure in feature space based on kernel functions to the fuzzy K-nearest neighbor(fuzzy K-NN) algorithm. In doing so, the proposed algorithm can enhance the Performance of the conventional algorithm, by choosing an appropriate kernel function. Results on several data sets and segmentation results for real images are given to show the validity of our proposed algorithm.

  • The measurement of performance of a process considering both the location and the dispersion of information about the process is referred to as the process capacity indices (PCIs) of interest, $C_{pk}$. This information is presented by the mean and standard deviation of the producing process. Linguistic variables are used to express the evaluation of the quality of a product. Consequently, $C_{pk}$ is defined with fuzzy numbers. Lee [Eur. J. Oper. Res. 129(2001) 683-688] constructed the definition of the $C_{pk}$ index estimation presented by fuzzy numbers and approximated its membership function using the "min" - norm based Zadeh's extension principle of fuzzy sets. However, Lee's result was shown to be invalid by Hong [Eur. J. Oper. Res. 158(2004) 529-532]. It is well known that $T_w$ (the weakest t-norm)-based addition and multiplication preserve the shape of L-R fuzzy numbers. In this paper, we allow that the fuzzy numbers are of L-R type. The object of the present study is to propose a new method to calculate the $C_{pk}$ index under $T_w-based$ fuzzy arithmetic operations.

  • This study aims to develop a multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) approach for flood vulnerability assessment which considers uncertainty. The flood vulnerability assessment procedure consists of three steps: (1) use the Delphi process to determine the criteria and their corresponding weights-the adopted criteria represent the social, economic, and environmental circumstances related to floods, (2) construct a fuzzy data matrix for the flood vulnerability criteria using fuzzification and standardization, and (3) set priorities based on the number of assessed vulnerabilities. This study uses a modified fuzzy TOPSIS method based on ${\alpha}$-level sets which considers various uncertainties related to weight derivation and crisp data aggregation. Further, Spearman's rank correlation analysis is used to compare the rankings obtained using the proposed method with those obtained using fuzzy TOPSIS with fuzzy data, TOPSIS, and WSM methods with crisp data. The fuzzy TOPSIS method based on ${\alpha}$-cut level sets is found to have a higher correlation rate than the other methods, and thus, it can reduce the difference of the rankings which uses crisp and fuzzy data. Thus, the proposed flood vulnerability assessment method can effectively support flood management policies.

  • In this paper, we shall define the usual fuzzy distance between two real fuzzy points, using the usual distance between two points in $\mathbb{R}$. We introduce the fuzzy sequence in the fuzzy real line and the notion of limit of fuzzy sequence in $F_p(\mathbb{R})$, and obtain the fuzzy increasing(decreasing) sequence and fuzzy Cauchy sequence of real fuzzy points.

  • In this paper we define intuitionistic fuzzy interior ideals in ordered semigroups. We prove that in regular(resp. intra-regular and semisimple) ordered semigroups the concepts of intuitionistic fuzzy interior ideals and intuitionistic fuzzy ideals coincide. We prove that an ordered semi group is intuitionistic fuzzy simple if and only if every intutionistic fuzzy interior ideal is a constant function. We characterize intra-regular ordered semi groups in terms of interior (resp. intuitionistic fuzzy interior) ideals.

  • The aim of this paper is to study and find characterizations of quasi-fuzzy continuous and quasi-fuzzy closed mappings between fuzzy bitopological spaces. The notion of quasi-fuzzy open sets is used to defined quasi-fuzzy Ti (i=0, 1, 2) and quasi-fuzzy regular spaces and these spaces are investigated under quasi-fuzzy continuity. Finally, quasi-fuzzy connectednss is introduced and studied to some extent.

  • This paper proposes conceptual fuzzy sets for picture reference system with visual user interface and command recognition system without keyboard and mouse. The picture reference system consists of the associative picture database, the visual user interface and command recognition system. The associative picture database searches pictures by using conceptual fuzzy sets. To show pictures attractive, the visual user interface provides some visual effect functions. The command recognition unit, without keyboard and mouse, captures user's hand by camera and informs it to the system as a command. We implement and evaluate the picture reference system.

  • Supplier evaluation is of great significance in green supply chain management. Influenced by factors such as economic globalization, sustainable development, a holistic index framework is difficult to establish in green supply chain. Furthermore, the initial index values of candidate suppliers are often characterized by uncertainty and incompleteness and the index weight is variable. To solve these problems, an index framework is established after comprehensive consideration of the major factors. Then an adaptive weight D-S theory model is put forward, and a fuzzy-rough-sets-AHP method is proposed to solve the adaptive weight in the index framework. The case study and the comparison with TOPSIS show that the adaptive weight D-S theory model in this paper is feasible and effective.

  • Fuzzy logic is introduced by Zadeh in 1965. It has been continuously developed by many mathematicians and knowledge engineers all over the world. A lot of papers concerning with the history of mathematics and the mathematical education related with fuzzy logic, but there is no paper concerning with Zadeh. In this article, we investigate his life and papers about fuzzy logic. We also compare two-valued logic, three-valued logic, fuzzy logic, intuisionistic logic and intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Finally we discuss about the expression of intuitionistic fuzzy sets.
