Automatic Adaptive Space Segmentation for Reinforcement Learning

  • We tested a single pendulum simulation and observed the influence of several situation space segmentation types in reinforcement learning processes in order to propose a new adaptive automation for situation space segmentation. Its segmentation is performed by the Contraction Algorithm and the Cell Division Approach. Also, its automation is performed by "entropy," which is defined on action values’ distributions. Simulation results were shown to demonstrate the influence and adaptability of the proposed method.

자율이동로봇의 안전주행을 위한 주행성 맵 작성 (Development of a Traversability Map for Safe Navigation of Autonomous Mobile Robots)

  • This paper presents a method for developing a TM (Traversability Map) from a DTM (Digital Terrain Model) collected by remote sensors of autonomous mobile robots. Such a map can be used to plan traversable paths and estimate navigation speed quantitatively in real time for robots capable of performing autonomous tasks over rough terrain environments. The proposed method consists of three parts: a DTM partition module which divides the DTM into equally spaced patches, a terrain information module which extracts the slope and roughness of the partitioned patches using the curve fitting and the fractal-based triangular prism method, and a traversability analysis module which assesses traversability incorporating with extracted terrain information and fuzzy inference to construct a TM. The potential of the proposed method is validated via simulation works over a set of fractal DTMs.

  • In this paper, we will introduce a control strategy based on the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) container transfer system using soft-computing algorithm. Linear motor-based container transport system (LMCTS) is horizontal transfer system for the yard automation, which has been proposed to take the place of automated guided vehicle in the maritime container terminal. LMCTS is considered as that the system is changed its model suddenly and variously by loading and unloading container. The proposed control system is consisted of two DR-FNNs that act the role of controller and system emulator. Consequently, the system had the predictable structure and an ability to adapt for a huge variation of rolling friction, detent force, and sudden changes of its weight by loading and unloading.

  • Y. R$\acute{e}$ball$\acute{e}$[Fuzzy Sets and Systems, vol.157, pp.3025-2039, 2006] discussed the representation of necessity measure through the Choquet integral criterian. He also considered a decision maker who ranks necessity measures related with Choquet integral representation. Our motivation of this paper is that a decision maker have an "ambiguity" necessity measure to present preferences. In this paper, we discuss the representation of interval-valued necessity measures through the Choquet integral criterian.

  • 본 논문은 교통을 수동 조작하는점에 대한 사람들의 반응을 분석하기 위해서 퍼지측도와 퍼지적분의 응용에 관련된 것이다. 이같은 목적을 위해 수동 교통조작에 대한 설문조사가 이루어지고 데이터는 전문가와 비전문가를 사이에 두고 이루어져 있다. 사람들의 반응의 기본구조를 파악하기 위해 요소분석을 수행하였다. 전문가와 비전문가 그굽들사이의 설문조사의 반응에 대한 태도가 퍼지측도분석에 의한 계층적 구저로서 잘 설명되어진다.

  • Intelligent control technologies (fuzzy logic, neural network, chaos, and genetic algorithm) have been a great deal of influences and impact, especially in home appliances industry. As a result, products that utilize these technologies are pouring into the market from just about every companies. These products are getting good responses from the consumers, because they offer convenience and amenities through the intelligent self-control.   • 데이터 특성이 연속적이고 애매할 때 퍼지규칙으로 분류 규칙을 표현하는 것은 매우 유용하고 효과적이다. 그러나 일반적으로 정확하지 않은 데이터 특성에 대해서 소속함수를 결정한다는 것은 어려운 일이다. 본 논문에서는 진화알고리즘을 이용하여 효과적인 퍼지 분류 규칙을 자동으로 생성하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법에서 규칙의 정확성과 이해성을 고려하여 최적화된 소속함수를 생성하기 위해 진화알고리즘을 사용한다. 먼저 지도 군집화로 진화를 위한 초기 소속함수를 생성한다. 진화알고리즘은 전역적 최적 해를 찾는데 효과적이다. 그러나 시간에 대한 효율성이 낮다. 특히 모델 최적화 문제에서는 개체 평가 단계에서 많은 시간이 소요된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 전체 데이터를 여러 개의 부분 데이터들로 나누고 개체들은 전체 데이터 대신 매번 부분 데이터를 임의적으로 선택하여 개체를 평가함으로써 수행 시간을 단축시킬 수 있는 진화 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 퍼지 분류 규칙 생성 방법의 타당성을 검증하기 위한 실험 데이터로 UCI에서 제공하는 데이터들을 사용하였으며, 실험 결과는 기존 방법에 비해 평균적으로 더 효과적임을 확인하였다.

Parameter Selecting in Artificial Potential Functions for Local Path Planning

  • Artificial potential field (APF) is a widely used method for local path planning of autonomous mobile robot. So far, many different types of APF have been implemented. Once the artificial potential functions are selected, how to choose appropriate parameters of the functions is also an important work. In this paper, a detailed analysis is given on how to choose proper parameters of artificial functions to eliminate free path local minima and avoid collision between robots and obstacles. Two kinds of potential functions: Gaussian type and Quadratic type of potential functions are used to solve the above local minima problem respectively. To avoid local minima occurred in realistic situations such as 1) a case that the potential of the goal is affected excessively by potential of the obstacle, 2) a case that the potential of the obstacle is affected excessively by potential of the goal, the design guidelines for selecting appropriate parameters of potential functions are proposed.

A Dynamic Channel Allocation Algorithm Based on Time Constraints in Cellular Mobile Networks

  • The new realtime applications like multimedia and realtime services in a wireless network will be dramatically increased. However, many realtime services of mobile hosts in a cell cannot be continued because of insufficiency of useful channels. Conventional channel assignment approaches didn't properly consider the problem to serve realtime applications in a cell. This paper proposes a new realtime channel assignment algorithm based on time constraint analysis of channel requests. The proposed algorithm dynamically borrows available channels from neighboring cells. It also supports a smooth handoff which continuously serves realtime applications of the mobile hosts.

Chaotic Dynamics in Tobacco's Addiction Model

  • Chaotic dynamics is an active area of research in biology, physics, sociology, psychology, physiology, and engineering. This interest in chaos is also expanding to the social scientific fields such as politics, economics, and argument of prediction of societal events. In this paper, we propose a dynamic model for addiction of tobacco. A proposed dynamical model originates from the dynamics of tobacco use, recovery, and relapse. In order to make an addiction model of tobacco, we try to modify and rescale the existing tobacco and Lorenz models. Using these models, we can derive a new tobacco addiction model. Finally, we obtain periodic motion, quasi-periodic motion, quasi-chaotic motion, and chaotic motion from the addiction model of tobacco that we established. We say that periodic motion and quasi-periodic motion are related to the pre-addiction or recovery stage, respectively. Quasi-chaotic and chaotic motion are related to the addiction stage and relapse stage, respectively.
