  • Through this study, the policy proposals were intended to be presented to the head of the farming policy. Therefore, the meaning of this study is as follows. First, rather than judging the returning farmer on his own, he should provide sufficient information to consult with his family and increase access to agriculture. Second, by opening up SNS and YouTube to returning farmers, they should instill confidence in rural areas by providing them with information about the joy of rural life and the success of farming so that they can easily access information about rural life through villages, youth associations and women's associations. Efforts should be made to create vibrant rural areas by providing infrastructure around farmland, providing various amenities for settling young people and forming a family farmers' association. Third, the head of the return farming policy should come up with customized support policies for the return farming (e.g., one-year farm support, free farm support, institutional sales guarantee, tourism in advanced countries, modernization of farmland facilities). Public relations strategies should also be strengthened so that such policies can lead to agriculture. Finally, the government should provide subsidized economic activities (e.g. Airbnb, donation of expertise and work-related personnel before returning home, rural experience, etc.).

  • Water accounts for the largest proportion of body weight and is an essential element for the physiological functioning of the human body. According to 2013-2017 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) data, the average water intake of Koreans was 2,167.3 mL/day and 62% of them did not meet the Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans (KDRIs) for water. However, the consumption of beverages is continuously increasing. KDRIs sets the adequate intake (AI) for water, but tolerable upper intake level (UL) and chronic disease risk reduction intake (CDRR) are not provided. Compared to 2015, the AI of total water from both food and fluids in the 2020 KDRIs slightly increased or decreased according to age. The AI for children 1-2 years old, boys 6-8 years and 9-11 years old, and girls 6-8 years old decreased by 100 mL/day, while that of boys 12-14 years old increased by 100 mL/day. The AI of total water was the sum of the water intake from food and fluids reported by the KNHANES, with an extra milk intake of 200 mL/day. Therefore, it is not appropriate to use the AI of total water intakes for the reference of beverage intakes. It is preferable to consume water or milk rather than beverages containing sugar and others including caffeine, sodium, etc. when drinking fluid water. We suggest the following improvements in the future KDRIs for water: improving the adequacy of the water content ratio of Korean conventional foods, supplementing the fluid water intake survey, reflecting the current water intake status by life cycle, setting KDRIs for water for the elderly considering the physiological changes, health status and dietary habits, and promotion of research on the relationship between water intake and health for Koreans.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of aging-friendly technology that can be integrated into future smart homes in an aging society. The literature survey and content analysis method were used to collect and analyze data. Papers of the international journal ICOST (International Conference on Smart Homes and Health Telematics) that professionally deal with converged technologies were analysis units. Sixty-five papers among 215 papers published from 2007 through 2014 were selected on the basis of end-users orientation. Totally, out of 65 papers 76 technology items were extracted. Characteristics of those technologies were analyzed focusing on purpose and application methods. As results, in terms of purpose, the technologies were oriented to provide both of psychological and physiological support to the users, focusing on the safety, convenience, health and entertainment to extend independent life of the elderly. Among the application method such as building structure, furniture, product, wearable device and free movable robot, product were dominant. • Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the characteristics of acute poisoning cases admitted to a local emergency department in an urban-rural area. Methods: This retrospective study included all patients with acute poisoning who admitted the emergency department between June 2004 and May 2005. We analyzed the medical records for etiological and demographical characteristics of the acutely poisoned patients. Results: There were 155(1.0%) poisoning cases among 15,457 admitted to the emergency department. Of the admitted cases, 51.0% were female and 49.0% male. The poisoning made a peak in the age range of 30-39 and over 60. The seasonal distribution in poisoning patients suggested a peak in spring(38.1%) and summer(24.5%). The majority of exposures(95.5%) occurred in patient's home, 81.8% were deliberate. The most common agents of acute poisoning in deliberate causes were drugs(p<0.01). All of deliberate cases were suicidal attempts. The most common poisoning cases were pesticides in male, but in female were medications(p<0.01). Overall mortality rate of total cases were 12.9%. The overall mortality rate was higher in male(p<0.05), increasing age(p<0.05) and intentional ingestion(p<0.05), pesticides poisoning(p<0.05). Conclusions: The study forms a foundation for future work on poisoning epidemiology which hopefully will facilitate the allocation of preventive services in order to reduce the incidence as well as morbidity and mortality of toxic exposures.

  • In both elections of 1997 and 2001, Tony Blair of the Labour Party won #10 of Downing Street. This political success had to do with regionalism and was particular due to the devolution policy that was supported by non English citizens. However, there are negative voices about this policy which tries to cope with regional conflicts by decentralizing the central political power. The paper aims to examine the current regionalism movements and the devolution policy in Britain. For this purpose, the nation-building processes of the United Kingdom and various reactions to these processes, especially regional ethnic conflicts are discussed. And the study finally investigates the future perspectives of the devolution policy and its implications for both regionalism and the national-regional developments in Britain.

Therefore, this study attempted to present basic materials for the scheme to revitalize the virtual community. For this purpose, it attempted to find residents' recognition of and participation in the virtual community and demand for the classified contents conducted before this study. In the research method, it conducted the questionnaire research. The results are as follows. 1) First of all, It was found that the apartment residents had the low level of recognition of the virtual community. There was a significant difference according to the degree and the level of using the internet. Some easy-access programs are necessary. 2) The apartment residents took part in the virtual community about 67 percents because there was a lack of the public relation of the virtual community. 3) It was found that there was a significant positive correlation between the level of recognition and participation. 4) An attempt was made to identify the apartment residents' demand for the type of virtual community contents. It was found that most of contents were needed. 'apartment complex introduction and management information' showed the highest score among them. 5) Most respondents are affirmative to the virtual community.
