We suggest a functional technique with loess smoothing for estimating the change-point when there is one change-point in the mean model. The proposed change-point estimator is consistent. Simulation study shows a good performance of the proposed change-point estimator in comparison with other parametric or nonparametric change-point estimators.
We propose a mathematical model with Holling type II functional response, to study the dynamics of vaccination. In order to make our model more realistic, we have incorporated the recruitment of infected individuals as a continuous process. We have assumed that vaccination cannot be perfect and there is always a possibility of re-infection. We have obtained the existence of a disease free and endemic equilibrium point, when the recruitment of infective is not considered and also obtained the existence of at least one endemic equilibrium point when recruitment of infective is considered. We have proved that if Rv < 1, disease free equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable, which leads to the elimination of the disease from the population. The persistence of the model has also been established. Numerical simulations have been done to establish the results obtained.
The flash point is used to categorize inflammable liquids according to their relative flammability. Such a categorization is important for the safe handling, storage, and transportation of inflammable liquids. The flash point temperature of two binary liquid mixtures(n-octane+n-decane and n-octane+n-dodecane) has been measured for the entire concentration range using Seta-flash closed cup tester based on the ASTM D3278 method. The closed cup flash point temperature was estimated using the UNIFAC(Universal Functional Activity Coefficient) group contribution model. The experimentally derived flash point was also compared with the predicted flash point from the UNIFAC model. The UNIFAC model is able to estimate the flash point fairly well for n-octane+n-decane mixture and n-octane+n-dodecane mixture.

The cost of software maintenance occupies about two thirds in the software lifecycle. However, it is not easy to estimate the cost of software maintenance because of various viewpoints about software maintenance, unclear estimation methods, and complex procedures. Until now, the cost estimation model has used compensation factors for software characteristic and environment on the basis of program size. Especially, most of existing models use maintenance rate of total software cost as a main variable. This paper suggests the software maintenance cost estimation model that uses the result of calculating real maintenance efforts. In this paper, we classify functional maintenance and non-functional maintenance as software maintenance activity type. For functional maintenance, present function point of target software is needed to evaluate. The suggested maintenance cost evaluation model is applied to a software case in public sector. This paper discusses some differences between our model and other modes.
The positive coexistence of a simple food chain model with ratio-dependent functional response and cross-diffusion is discussed. Especially, when a cross-diffusion is small enough, the existence of positive solutions of the system concerned can be expected. The extinction conditions for all three interacting species and for one or two of three species are studied. Moreover, when a cross-diffusion is sufficiently large, the extinction of prey species with cross-diffusion interaction to predator occurs. The method employed is the comparison argument for elliptic problem and fixed point theory in a positive cone on a Banach space.

An accurate estimation of software development size is an important factor in calculating reasonable cost of project development and determining its success. In this study, we propose estimation models, using function point based on the functional correlation between software, with empirical data. Three models($FP_{est}(I)$, $FP_{est}(II)$, $FP_{est}(III)$) are developed with correlation and regression analysis. The validity of the models is evaluated by the significance test by comparing values of Mean Magnitude of Relative Error (MMRE) and predictions of each model at level n%. Model $FP_{est}(III)$ proved to be superior to other models such as IFPC(Indicative Function Point Count), EFPC(Estimated Function Point Count), EPFS(Early Prediction of Function Size), $FP_{est}(I)$, and $FP_{est}(II)$. As a result, the accuracy of the model appears to be very high to determine the usefulness of the model to finally overcome weakness of other estimation models. The model can be efficiently used to estimate project development size including software size or manpower allocation.
In this paper, we estimate the performance requirements of general-purpose DSP for Carrier Recovery of OFDM DVB-T receiver. Firstly, we transported the designed fixed-point OFDM DVB-T model to a floating-point software model written in C. Then, we measured the number of instruction cycles required for operation of Carrier Recovery in time. We use SignalMaster$\^$TM/ DSP platform of LYRtech Inc. as a environment of estimation, and Simulink$\^$TM/ as a graphical interface, Code Composer StudioTM of TI as profiler and compiler, and SPW$\^$TM/ for presenting functional reliability and comparing the performance distortion with fixed-point model. As a result, we show the required number of DSPs in our DSP-based system, and introduce the need of Multi-DSP-based system.
Precision agriculture attempts to improve cropping efficiency by variable application of crop treatments such as fertilizers and pesticides, within field on a point-by-point basis. Therefore, a more complete understanding of the relationships between yield and soil properties is of critical importance in precision agriculture. In this study, the functional relationships between measured soil properties and rice yield were investigated. A supervised back-propagation neural network model was employed to relate soil chemical properties and rice yields on a point-by point basis, within individual site-years. As a results, a positive correlation was found between practical yields and predicted yields in 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 are 0.916, 0.879, 0.800 and 0.789, respectively. The results showed that significant overfitting for yields with only the soil chemical properties occurred so that more of environmental factors, such as climatological data, variety, cultivation method etc., would be required to predict the yield more accurately.
In this study, the conformable fractional derivative(CFD) of order 𝝔 in conjunction with the LC operator of orderρ is used to develop the model of the transmission of the A(H1N1) influenza infection. A brand-new A(H1N1) influenza infection model is presented, with a population split into four different compartments. Fixed point theorems were used to prove the existence of the solutions and uniqueness of this model. The basic reproduction number R0 was determined. The least and most sensitive variables that could alter R0 were then determined using normalized forward sensitivity indices. Through numerical simulations carried out with the aid of the Adams-Moulton approach, the study also investigated the effects of numerous biological characteristics on the system. The findings demonstrated that if 𝝔 < 1 and ρ < 1 under the CFD, also the findings demonstrated that if 𝝔 = 1 and ρ = 1 under the CFD, the A(H1N1) influenza infection will not vanish.
Recently, development paradigm of information system is turning into object oriented and component based, and this methodology is leading the software industry. To acclimatize aptly to this trend, users demand the assessment of software expenses to change with the appropriate model of computing costs of the environment, and some people are actually studying the concept of Object Oriented Function Point and UCP method. Especially, Object Oriented Function Point Measurement Process has good points in overcoming the bound of LOC and the existing the Function Point Measurement Process because Object Oriented Function Point Measurement Process is applicable to the early stage of development project mainly with the used cases, and valid to the life long period as the each stage of software products develops, and always understandable to communicate with users by the UML mark rules. Accordingly, this research is to measure Functional Point at ROFP and AOFP in accordance with the development project of information system by the national defense CBD methodology procedures and UML Interrelation Analysis that are recently and widely used in the developmental environment of object oriented information system. Furthermore, this study suggests the measurement method to obtain Functional Point, and identifies service function and object/class function in the correlation analysis of use case and class based on the products and UML modeling via traditional FPA model and object oriented FPA model. Above all, this study is to demonstrate the improvement of traditional Function Point Measurement Process, IFPUG-CPM and software cost basis, and reveal Function Point Measurement Process, which is appropriate to the development of object oriented information system, and suggest the evaluation results of the compatibility through case studies.
