  • The harm caused by the opposite function of information and communication has also done increasing with making use of internet more spread. Especially the information and communication are even used as new criminal methods in the society. The objective of this study is to find the orientation on the ethics education of information and communication through the opinion of the undergraduate students who lead the culture of internet for suggestion of the target to raise the upright and sound members of society as well as to solve the above such problems and to establish the desirable model of the ethics. From the questionnaire result by the undergraduate students of S University, students in the field of Humanities and Social Science need the education against the opposite function of information and communication and also the education of netiquette of conscience and moral. In case of opinions in the field of Science and Engineering, the result shows that the students have the opinion on the necessity of the professional education to deal with the opposite function to information and communication as well as the education for upgrade of ability to make use of expert knowledge of information and communication toward the positive side. Finally, the students in the field of Medicine show that they have also the opinion to deal with the opposite function of information and communication. In addition, such result shows that they have the opinion of necessity to the special education against various addicted symptom related to the computer.

  • This study was to understand students' learning about the function of math combined with molecular motions of science using the block scheduling. It was based on the revised Class Structure Model of Lee et al.(2010) where MBL as a tool was used to increase students' participation and understanding in the integrated concepts. The researcher provided the 6th grade students who lived in Sung Nam-Si, Kyung Gi-Do with 8 unit lessons, consisting of 5 stages of CSM. As a result of the study, the integrated education of Mathematics and Science showed synergic effect in studying both subjects and brought a positive result in gradual mathematization. It may be hard to combine all the contents of mathematics and science together. However, learning the relation between volume and pressure, and between volume and temperature of gas used as an example of function shown in our daily life was appropriate through Fogarty's integrated education model because it supported the objective of both subjects. Also, it was a good idea to develop CSM because it was composed of the contents from both subjects held in the same period of a year. Through the five stages, students were able to establish and generalize the definitions and the concepts of function.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the effect of family function and self-efficacy on suicidal ideation in university students. Method: The study was designed as a descriptive survey study. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire which included general characteristics, measures of family function, self-efficacy and suicidal ideation. Data collection was done between April 1 and April 30, 2009 with 569 university students. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Result: The score of family function showed a significantly negative correlation with suicidal ideation. The score of self-efficacy also showed a significantly negative correlation with suicidal ideation. Family function in university students was significantly influenced by gender. Family cohesion was significantly influenced by religion. Self-efficacy in university students was significantly influenced by gender and age. Suicidal ideation was significantly influenced by religion. Conclusion: The findings suggest that family function and self-efficacy influence suicidal ideation. A strategy for improving family function and self-efficacy should be identified to decrease suicidal ideation.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the cognitive function in NIDDM patients. Method: The data were collected at MI OPD in C University hospital. with Digit Span Forward & Backward, Trail Making Test-A, Trail Making Test-B, and MMSE. Result: There were significant differences in DF, DB, TMT-A, and TMT-B according to gender, and in TMT-A according to living with spouse and comorbidity. There were significant differences in DF, DB, TMT-A, TMT-B, and MMSE according to monthly income, and in DF, TMT-A, and TMT-B according to hypertensive state. But, there was no difference in cognitive function score according to diabetes-related complication and diabetes treatment modality. There was a significant positive correlation between duration of NIDDM and TMT-A(r=.215, p=.025). The global cognition score was explained 42.1% of varient by age, duration of education, monthly income, and hypertensive state. Conclusion: As above results showed, among age, duration of education, monthly income, and hypertensive state, prevented and managed hypertensive state which is modifiable factor may reduce or delay cognitive function impairment in NIDDM patients. And DF & DB, TMT-A & B could be more utilized as useful cognitive function measurements because those tests reflected cognitive function in NIDDM patients better than MMSE.

  • Land-use or land-cover classification of satellite images is one of the important tasks in remote sensing application and many researchers have tried to enhance classification accuracy. Previous studies have shown that the classification technique based on wavelet transform is more effective than traditional techniques based on original pixel values, especially in complicated imagery. Various basis functions such as Haar, daubechies, coiflets and symlets are mainly used in 20 image processing based on wavelet transform. Selecting adequate wavelet is very important because different results could be obtained according to the type of basis function in classification. However, it is not easy to choose the basis function which is effective to improve classification accuracy. In this study, we first computed the wavelet coefficients of satellite image using ten different basis functions, and then classified images. After evaluating classification results, we tried to ascertain which basis function is the most effective for image classification. We also tried to see if the optimum basis function is decided by energy parameter before classifying the image using all basis functions. The energy parameters of wavelet detail bands and overall accuracy are clearly correlated. The decision of optimum basis function using energy parameter in the wavelet based image classification is expected to be helpful for saving time and improving classification accuracy effectively.

  • Symmetric interpolating refinable function vectors with compact support are of interest in several applications such as signal processing, image processing and computer graphics. It is known in [13] that orthogonal interpolating refinable function vectors can not be symmetric for multiplicity r = 2 and dilation d = 2. In this paper, we shall investigate symmetric interpolating refinable function vectors with compact support for multiplicity r = 2 and dilation d = 2 by omitting orthogonality. To illustrate our theorems and results in this paper, we shall also present some examples of symmetric interpolating refinable function vectors with compact support and high order of sum rules.

  • Ever since the time of Euler, the so-called Euler sums have been evaluated in many different ways. We give here a proof of the classical Euler sum by following Lewin's method. We also consider some related formulas involving Euler sums, which are evaluatable from some known definite integrals.

  • If a multiplicative function f is commutable with a quadratic form x2 + xy + y2, i.e., f(x2 + xy + y2) = f(x)2 + f(x) f(y) + f(y)2, then f is the identity function. In other hand, if f is commutable with a quadratic form x2 - xy + y2, then f is one of three kinds of functions: the identity function, the constant function, and an indicator function for ℕ \ pℕ with a prime p.

  • Objective: The aims of this study were 1) to develop easy-to-use rhythmic balance training equipment for the elderly and 2) to investigate the effect of training with the equipment on balance and physical function. Method: Twenty-one elderly individuals (age: $75.4{\pm}3.34yrs$, height: $152.07{\pm}4.81cm$, weight: $58.35{\pm}8.34kg$) participated in this study. Each participant underwent balance and physical function testing before and after 12 weeks of training with the equipment. Y-balance (i.e. dynamic balance) and one leg static balance tests were used for balance testing, and timed up- and-down-stairs and five times sit-to-stand tests were used for physical function testing. A paired t test was used to determine whether there was a significant pre- and post-training difference. Results: The rhythmic balance training equipment provided a fun and motivating training program with age-friendly music, dance movements for lower extremity strength training, and touch screen controls with simple features. Post-training left foot dynamic balance was significantly greater (p<.05), and static balance with eyes open was significantly improved (p<.05) compared to pre-training. Completion of the timed up-and-down-stairs and the five times sit-to-stand tests was significantly shorter (p<.05) compared to pre-training. Conclusion: Training using the equipment developed in this study improved balance and physical function in elderly participants.
