  • In recently, a study on the lean combustion is investigated intensively, because it is expected that this method may decrease the harmful exhaust gas and improve fuel economy in gasoline engine. The problems of lean combustion system in gasoline engine are ignition difficulty, misfire and instability of combustion. The investigation on the optimization of fuel metering and the control of mixing gas flow may be critical to improve the performance of lean combustion. In the fuel injection gasoline engine, the formation of mixture influences strongly on the engine performance such that the importance of fuel metering system becomes apparent. First of all, a study on the fuel breakup characteristics of gasoline fuel injector was carried out in this paper. Fuel injectors are pintle and 4hole-2spray type. The purpose of this study is to clarify the atomization mechanism of spray injected into atomosphere field through electronic controlled-fuel injectors, and to analyze spray characteristics such as drop size distribution and mean drop diameter produced at fuel injector. In this paper, the spray development is observed by taking photograps using 80mm still-camera system, and drop sizes are measured by PMAS. From these experiment, spray pattern injected from gasoline fuel injectors was investigated clearly. Also, it was found that SMD and drop size distribution of injected fuel spray from gasoline fuel injectors.

시험용 연료 특성에 따른 자동차 연비측정 방법 개선에 관한 연구 (The Study on the improvement of vehicle fuel economy test method according to the characteristics of test fuel)

  • 시험방법 중 현재 국내 자동차 연비계산 방법은 차대동력계에 시험차량을 설치한 후, 주어진 시험모드(FTP-75 & HWFET 모드 등)에 따라 차량을 주행하여 측정되어지는 배출가스 결과를 가지고 계산에 의해 연비를 구하는 방식인 카본발란스 측정법(Carbon balance method)을 이용하고 있다. 이때 사용하고 있는 카본발란스 측정법은 시험방법 개발 당시의 표준연료에 대해 연료물성을 구하고, 이때 구하여진 상수 값과 시험에서 측정되어진 THC, CO, $CO_2$ 값을 가지고 계산하게 된다. 그러므로 시험할 때마다 매번 바뀌게 되는 사용 연료의 연료물성 특성은 정확히 고려되지 않게 된다. 주어진 시험연료에 따라 엔진성능 및 배출가스 결과가 변하게 되고, 많은 대체연료가 나오고 있는 현 시점에서 시험연료의 물성 특성을 연비계산 시에도 고려해야만 된다고 생각된다. 본 연구에서는 기존에 사용하고 있는 카본발란스법과 실제 시험에 사용된 연료의 유량을 측정하는 유량측정 방법을 이용한 결과를 비교하여, 시험에 사용된 연료의 물성 특성을 고려할 수 있는 방법을 연구함으로서, 다양해지고 있는 연료의 물성 특성을 고려해 줄 수 있는 개선된 연비측정 방법을 검토해 보고자 한다.

커먼레일 연료분사 시스템을 장착한 2.9 리터급 경량 DME 트럭의 연구 및 개발 (Research and Development of a 2.9 Liter Light-duty DME Truck Using Common Rail Fuel Injection Systems)

  • In this study, the trucks(2.9-liter) have been developed to use DME as fuel, and performance test of the vehicle's DME engine, power, emissions, fuel economy and vehicle aspects was conducted. For experiments, the fuel system(common-rail injectors and high-pressure pump included) and the engine control logic was developed, and ECU mapping was performed. As a result, the rail pressure from 40MPa to approximately 65% increase compared to the base injector has been confirmed that. Also, the pump discharge flow is 15.5 kg/h when the fuel rail pressure is 400rpm(40MPa), and the pump discharge flow is 92.1 kg/h when the fuel rail pressure is 2,000rpm(40MPa). The maximum value of full-load torque capability is 25.5 kgfm(based on 2,000 rpm), and more than 90% compared to the level of the diesel engine were obtained. The DME vehicle was developed in this study, 120 km/h can drive to the stable, and calculated in accordance with the carbon-balance method of fuel consumptions is 5.7 km/L.

  • Many research studies have been carried out related to saving energy and environmental pollution in the field of construction machinery. The best solution for reducing the related environmental pollution is to reduce fuel consumption by upgrading the energy efficiency of machinery used in this field. An efficiency upgrade in the field of construction machinery would mean minimizing the pressure loss in hydraulic pipe lines or achieving optimal operating conditions while responding to a load. One way to achieve this is to make an equivalent circuit, like an electrohydrostatic actuator, or to improve the spool type valve using the 4/3 way method. This study deals with an electrohydraulic proportional flow control valve. SimulationX software is used as a simulation tool for analyzing the dynamic characteristics. The analysis results, including the performance and characteristics of design parameters, are discussed and the validity of the theoretical analysis is also evaluated.
