황철석과 토착미생물이 광미를 활용한 전기 생산에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Pyrite and Indigenous Bacteria on Electricity Generation Using Mine Tailings)

  • 본 연구는 산성광산배수를 유발하는 광미를 연료전지 기술에 적용하여 유용하게 활용할 수 있는지 알아보기 위해 수행하였다. 황철석 성분을 함유한 광미와 철산화를 촉진하기 위한 철산화균을 포함한 토착세균을 사용하여 미생물연료전지를 구성하여, 광미 내 황철석 함량이 높을수록 연료전지의 전기적 효율이 향상됨을 확인하였다. 또한, 광미를 활용한 연료전지에서 토착세균 주입을 통해 전류밀도와 전력밀도를 각각 3배, 10배 정도 향상시켜, 철산화에 관여하는 미생물의 주입이 광미를 이용한 연료전지 효율 향상에 도움이 됨을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 광산 지역 토착세균의 생태학적 기능을 연료전지 기술과 활용해 광미로부터 오염유발 우려물질을 저감함과 동시에 전기 생산이 가능함을 확인하여, 광미를 활용한 미생물연료전지 기술이 광미의 무해화 및 전기 생산을 위한 기술로 사용될 수 있음을 보여준다.

  • 본 논문은 미 일리노이 주립대 어바나-샴페인 캠퍼스에서 주로 군사용 응용 관련하여 개발 중인 마이크로 PEM 연료전지 시스템 개발에 대한 논문이다. 본 연구는 수소 저장 장치까지 포함하여 1 $mm^3$의 초소형 연료전지 시스템을 목표로 진행 중이며 본 논문은 이러한 진행 과정 중 화학적 하이드라이드 기반의 수소 발생기와 10 $mm^3$의 시스템 개발 과정에 대해 보고한다.

  • HYOSUNG manufactured and tested 1kW class PEFC systems to generate electrical and thermal energy for each residential usage. In particular, HYOSUNG developed power conditioning system that performs over 91% electrical conversion ratio specified in 1kW class PEFC systems. Prior to system integration, we tested each performances of components to derive control issues from it. In addition, we have been developing the adequate simulator to describe and predict system performance. In this paper, we verified HYOSUNG's 1kW class PEFC systems are valid for residential energy sources by testing the characteristics of systems and performances of main components.

  • National projects on renewable energy and new energy are driven more actively than ever in many countries for the exhaustion of fossil fuel energy from the turn of the century. Such activities began to spread out in railway industry with centering around west European countries. Electric energy is generated on the hybrid vehicle itself, which contributes to reduction of the cost for construction of the infrastructure required for the supply of electric power. Hybrid tram is mainly composed of propulsion system to control electric energy, automatic guidance system to control steering and operation, and central vehicle unit to control and monitor major electronic devices. Generation and supply of electric power are made by the combination of engine generator and battery, or fuel cell and super capacitor.

제로에너지단지의 적정 수소 활용 규모 및 운용방식에 관한 연구 (A Comparative Assessment of Hydrogen Facility Installation for Net-Zero Energy District Planning)

  • This study aims to evaluate the optimal size of the hydrogen facility to be installed in a zero-energy district in terms of load matching and facility efficiency. A mismatch between energy generation and consumption is a common occurrence in zero-energy districts. This mismatch adversely effects the energy grid. However, using an energy carrier such as hydrogen can solve this problem. To determine the optimal size of hydrogen fuel cells to be used on-site, simulation of hydrogen installation is required at both district-and building- levels. Each case had four operating schedules. Therefore, we evaluated eight scenarios in terms of load matching, heat loss, and facility operational efficiency. The results indicate that district-level installation of hydrogen facilities enables more efficient energy use. Additionally, based on the proposed model, we can calculate the optimal size of the hydrogen facility.

  • 본 논문은 신 발전방식 중 하나인 용융탄산염형 연료전지(Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell, 이하 MCFC) 발전시스템에서 생성된 전력을 계통에 안정적으로 변환, 주입하기 위한 계통연계형 전력변환기를 설계, 제작하고 성능 시험을 수행한 결과이다. 250kW급 MCFC 시스템의 정격 사양 및 스택의 운전 형태를 기반으로 250kW급 전력변환기 구조 및 단위기기를 설계하였고 전력변환기는 크게 DC/DC 컨버터부와 DC/AC 인버터부로 구성된다. 본 논문은 MCFC 발전 시스템에 적용되는 전력변환기(Power Conditioning System, 이하 PCS)를 제작하고 성능을 확인하는데 목적이 있다.

건물 연료전지용 재생블로어 설계변수 특성연구 (Characteristics of Design Parameters on the Regenerative Blower Used for Building Fuel Cell System)

  • This paper describes the blower performance used for single-stage high pressure regenerative blower. The blower considered is widely applied to the field of a fuel cell system, a medical equipment and a sewage treatment plant. Flow rate and rotating frequency of a impeller of the blower are considered as design parameters for the proper operation of the blower. Three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations are introduced to analyze the performance and internal flow of the blower. Relatively good agreement between experimental measurements and numerical simulation is obtained. Throughout a numerical simulation, it is found that small and stable vortical flow generated inside the blade passage is effective to increase pressure and efficiency of the blower. Large local recirculation flow having low velocity in the blade passage obstructs the generation of stable vortical flow, thus increases the pressure loss of the blower. Detailed flow field inside the blower is also analyzed and discussed.

  • Our lab designs a heat exchangers for hydrogen gas. Coolant is water, thus it is very difficult to determine heat transfer parameters in this gas-liquid system. Repeated experiments gives overdesign value 6.06%, overall heat transfer coefficient 36.32 ($kcal/m^2-hr-^{\circ}C$) for Hydrogen. Theoretically determined overall heat transfer coefficient is 38.44 ($kcal/m^2-hr-^{\circ}C$). Our lab simulated this system and overdesign 30.4% shows good match with this experiment by HTRI. These parameters are in same range with literature.

  • In this paper, a multi-agent control system for DC-coupled photovoltaic (PV), fuel cell (FC), ultracapacitor(UC) and battery hybrid power system is studied for commercial buildings & apartment buildings microgrid. In this proposed system, the PV system provides electric energy to the electrolyzer to produce hydrogen for future use and transfer to the load side, if possible. Whenever the PV system cannot completely meet load demands, the FC system provides power to meet the remaining load. A multi-agent system based-power management and control algorithm is proposed for the hybrid power system by taking into account the characteristics of each power source. The main works of this paper are hybridization of alternate energy sources with FC systems using long and short storage strategies to build the multi-agent control system with pragmatic design, and a dynamic model proposed for a PV/FC/UC/battery bank hybrid power generation system. A dynamic simulation model for the hybrid power system has been developed using Matlab/Simulink, SimPowerSystems and Stateflow. Simulation results are also presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed multi-agent control and management system for building microgrid.

Validation of Generalized State Space Averaging Method for Modeling and Simulation of Power Electronic Converters for Renewable Energy Systems

  • This paper presents an advanced modeling and simulation technique applied to DC/DC power electronic converters fed through renewable energy power sources. The distributed generation (DG) system at the Illinois Institute of Technology, which employs a phase-l system consisting of a photovoltaic-based power system and a phase-2 system consisting of a fuel cell based primary power source, is studied. The modeling and simulation of the DG system is done using the generalized state space averaging (GSSA) method. Furthermore, the paper compares the results achieved upon simulation of the specific GSSA models with those of popular computer aided design software simulations performed on the same system. Finally, the GSSA and CAD software simulation results are accompanied with test results achieved via experimentation on both, the PV-based phase-l system and the fuel cell based phase-2 power system.
