In this paper, a new approach to building a registration authority for issuing PKI-based certificates is presented to make the process of identifying an individual more secure and reliable by utilizing human iris recognition technology. The tasks of the proposed system associated with the manipulation of irises except for the general functions of registration authorities can be categorized into three modules, the acquisition of iris images, the registration of iris information, and the verification of users by means of iris patterns. The information among the three modules is safely exchanged through encryption and decryption with a symmetric cryptographic method. As a feature extraction method for a given iris image, a wavelet transform is applied to represent a feature vector with a small dimension of information obtained by subsampling an image corresponding to lower frequency bands successively without loss of information. Through the experiments on human iris recognition technology we proposed and applied to the registration authority, the potential of biometric technology in various applications is confirmed.
HEVC is the latest joint video coding standard with ITU-T SG16 WP and ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11. Its coding efficiency is about two times compared to H.264 high profile. Intra prediction has 35 directional modes including dc and planer. However an accurate mode decision on lots of modes with SSE is too costly to implement it with hardware. The key idea of this paper is a DCT shared architecture to reduce the complexity of HEVC intra encoder. It is to use same DCT block to quantize as well as to calculate SSE in RDO. The proposed intra encoder uses two step mode decision to lighten complexity with simplified RDO blocks and shares the transform resources. Its BD-rate increase is negligible at 20% on hardware aspect and the operating clock frequency is 300MHz@60fps on FHD ($1920{\times}1080$) image.
The binomial sequences are family of orthogonal sequences that can be generated with remarkable simplicity-no multiplications are necessary. This paper introduces a class of non-recursive multidimensional filters for frequency-selective image processing without multiplication operations. The magnitude responses are narrow-band. approximately gaussian-shaped with center frequencies which can be positioned to yield low-pass. band-pass. or high-pass filtering. Algorithms for the efficient implementation of these filters in software or in hardware are described. Also. we show that the binomial QMFs are the maximally flat magnitude square Perfect Reconstruction paraunitary filters with good compression capability and these are shown to be wavelet filters as well. In wavelet transform the original image is decomposed at different scales using a pyramidal algorithm architecture. The decomposition is along the vertical and horizontal direction and maintains constant the number of pixels required to describe the images. An efficient perfect reconstruction binomial QMF-Wavelet signal decomposition structure is proposed. The technique provides a set of filter solutions with very good amplitude responses and band split. The proposed binomial QMF-filter structure is efficient, simple to implement on VLSl. and suitable for multi-resolution signal decomposition and coding applications.

A support vector machine (SVM) is a very powerful classification algorithm when a set of training data, each marked as belonging to one of several categories, is given. Therefore, SVM techniques have been used as one of the diagnostic tools in machine learning as well as in pattern recognition. In this paper, we present the results of classifying ball bearing fault types and severities using SVM with an optimized feature set based on the minimum distance rule. A feature set as an input for SVM includes twelve time-domain and nine frequency-domain features that are extracted from the measured vibration signals and their decomposed details and approximations with discrete wavelet transform. The vibration signals were obtained from a test rig to simulate various bearing fault conditions.

To verify the possibility of generating rattling noise from a motor on caliper brake system, a test was conducted using a caliper excited with vibrations similar to that in a vehicle running on actual roads; this test was conducted using a quiet shaker installed in an anechoic room. After several hours of external excitation, the test assembly was loosened, and the frequency of rattling noise generation increased. A microphone was used to record the generated noise. The measured signals were analyzed by conventional spectrum analysis. Since the noise is generated as an impact response, the advantages of employing Prony analysis was discussed, and the results were compared to those obtained using conventional fast Fourier transforms. The accuracy of Prony analysis was through endurance tests on different brake systems.

In this work, Altair Engineering's vibroacoustic modeling approach is used to simulate the acoustic signature of a simplified automobile in a wind tunnel. The modeling approach relies on a two step procedure involving simulation and extraction of acoustic sources using a high fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation followed by propagation of the acoustic energy within the structure and passenger compartment using a structural dynamics solver. The tools necessary to complete this process are contained within Altair's HyperWorks CAE software suite. The CFD simulations are performed using AcuSolve and the structural simulations are performed using OptiStruct. This vibroacoustics simulation methodology relies on calculation of the acoustic sources from the flow solution computed by AcuSolve. The sources are based on Lighthill's analogy and are sampled directly on the acoustic mesh. Once the acoustic sources have been computed, they are transformed into the frequency domain using a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) with advanced sampling and are subsequently used in the structural acoustics model. Although this approach does require the CFD solver to have knowledge of the acoustic simulation domain a priori, it avoids modeling errors introduced by evaluation of the acoustic source terms using dissimilar meshes and numerical methods. The aforementioned modeling approach is demonstrated on the Hyundai Simplified Model (HSM) geometry in this work. This geometry contains flow features that are representative of the dominant noise sources in a typical automobile design; namely vortex shedding from the passenger compartment A-pillar and bluff body shedding from the side view mirrors. The geometry also contains a thick poroelastic material on the interior that acts to reduce the acoustic noise. This material is modeled using a Biot material formulation during the structural acoustic simulation. Successful prediction of the acoustic noise within the HSM geometry serves to validate the vibroacoustic modeling approach for automotive applications.
Using Agrobacterium-me야ated transformation method the auxin-regulated cotton GST (Gh-5) constructs were used to transform Rehmannia glutinosa L. The PCR analysis was conducted to verify transgenicity. Based on the PCR analysis, there was verified that the 988 bp DNA band had showed in transgenic plant genomes in PCR anaJysis using Gh5-1 and Gh5-2 primers. The effects of cocultivation with Agrobacterium tumefaciens, regeneration and selection conditions on the transformation efficiency of Chinese foxglove (Rehmannia glutinosa L.) were investigated. Factors such as cocultivation period, use of acetosyringone, postcultivation in darkness, and different kanamycin concentrations for selection were assessed. In vitro regeneration, the number of leaves, shoot lengths and numbers on MS medium were superior to on B5 and WPM medium, and the shoot formation rate was highest level of 95% in cultured base part containing leaf stalk. Addition of acetosyringone at concentration of $200{\mu}M$ to cocultivation medium and 3-day of cocultivation improved transformation frequencies. Exposure of explants to darkness for 4 weeks on selection medium resulted in further increased the regeneration frequency of transgenic shoots. In PCR analysis, the amplified fragments of Gh5 gene were detected (988 bp), and GST-expressing transgenic R. glutinosa L. plants had approximately three-fold higher activity in leaf extracts compared with control plant.

Recently, the discharge of global warming gases in dry etching process of TFT-LCD display industry is a serious issue because perfluorocarbon compound (PFC) gas causes global warming effects. PFCs including CF4, C2F6, C3F8, CHF3, NF3 and SF6 are widely used as etching and cleaning gases. In particular, the SF6 gas is chemically stable compounds. However, these gases have large global warming potential (GWP100 = 24,900) and lifetime (3,200). In this work, we chose C3F6O gas which has a very low GWP (GWP100 = <100) and lifetime (< 1) as a replacement gas. This study investigated the effects of the gas flow ratio of C3F6O/O2 and process pressure in dual-frequency capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) etcher on global warming effects. Also, we compared global warming effects of C3F6O gas with those of SF6 gas during dry etching of a patterned positive type photo-resist/silicon nitride/glass substrate. The etch rate measurements and emission of by-products were analyzed by scanning electron Microscopy (SEM; HITACI, S-3500H) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR; MIDAC, I2000), respectively. Calculation of MMTCE (million metric ton carbon equivalents) based on the emitted by-products were performed during etching by controlling various process parameters. The evaluation procedure and results will be discussed in detail.

The present study was designed to investigate whether there is a consistint changes in the signals from the central and autonomic nervous systim due to olfactory stimulation. The olfactory stimuli were 0.6% orange and 2.5% valeric acid and the stimuli through the olfactory stimulator soth controlled consistint flow, controlled concentration, and saturated with vapour to prevent drying the nasal mucosa. A room air blunk served as the control stimulus, EEG was recorede from 4channels according to the international 10-20 systim. Additionally, ECG, EOG, heart rate, skin conductance and resputation were recorded comtinuously. The fast Fourier transform analysis of EEG waves was analysed with the power spectra. Averaged power spectra were computed for the following frequency bands ; delta(0-4.5Hz), theta (4.5-7Hz), alphal(7-9.5Hz), alpha2 (9.5-12.5Hz) and beta(12.5-30Hz). Withthe results of the subjective sensibility test for the ordor, the orange was related to pleasant and familiar and the valeric acid was realted to snpleasant and bothersome. There is the difference between orange and valeric acid in alphal at PG2-A2 channel. While the unpleasant stimuli seem to be increased in alphal, alpha2 and beta waves at all channels. Also, the heart rate, galvaric skin resistance seem to be decreased by pleasant stimuli and thd unpleasant stimuli shdwed the opposite. In respiration, respiration rate had been declinig tendency, and input/output ampoitued and duration showed an upward trend by olfactory stimulation with orange, while opposite by valeric acid. In conclusion, the consistent EEG changes and the autonomic responses suggests the possibilities of the subjective signal of human sensibility.

This paper deals with the power frequency electric and magnetic profiles from transformer and gas-insulated swichgear(GIS) perimeters in the indoor power substation. Measurements of electric and magnetic field magnitudes were carried out by using single axis and three axes field meters at a height of 1[m]. The resultant electric and magnetic field profiles measured in the vicinity of the transformer were displayed as a 2-dimensional plot. The electric fields intensity are relatively low value of about 2.3~9[V/m], and the magnetic fields intensity range from 0.3 to [$20.3\mu$T]. Also, in the GIS perimeter the electric fields intensity are in the range of 2.2~2.5[V/m], and the high magnetic fields are largely localized to the intermediate section of the GIS and their amplitudes are [$1.2~39.5\mu$T]. Metal enclosures of transform and GIS play a role in reducing the electric field, and the magnetic fields are characterized by a rapid decrease with distance from the transformer and GIS enclosures.
