  • The tracking performance of a big parabola tracking antenna system for tracking and receiving of the signal from the vehicle is impacted by many factors of the internal and the external of the system. In this paper, we analyze the tracking error due to the radio refraction in the application of the tracking and positioning of the vehicle by using radio frequency. The real measurement data are used for the analysis which had been acquired by using GPS and the tracking systems of C- and S-band frequencies in NARO Space centre. To verify the correlation between the tracking errors measured and the radio refraction, we review the error factors and the accuracies of the tracking systems, and the characteristics of the refractivity. The analysis shows that there are angular errors which are due to the radio refraction and not to be neglected, compared to the accuracies of the tracking systems, in case of low elevation angle less than 10 degrees. Also, the tracking errors depend on the target altitude as well as the elevation angle for the case of the target in the troposphere. It is recommended to correct the tracking angle considering the target altitude and elevation angle for the precise target positioning.

  • In this paper, a planar active retrodirective four-element array with subharmonic phase conjugation mixers based on anti-parallel diode pairs (APDPs) is designed, and its application in the auto-tracking duplex communication link is presented. As compared to previous phase conjugation mixers using twice RF frequency for LO frequency, the proposed conjugation mixers need only half RF frequency so that it can be easily applied for millimeter-wave applications. The proposed architecture, which conventionally performs the function of the transmission of an incident signal back in the direction of its source, is modified in order to include a receive function. Experimental verification of these architectures is performed at 1GHz and the results from the prototypes are compared with a theoretical model.

  • Sliding mode control(SMC) incorporated with perturbation compensation is developed here to reduce the low-frequency tracking error in the presence of wide-band frequency perturbations for a nonlinear dynamic system. The control scheme is designed for estimation of low frequency perturbations with employment of the Time Delay Control and low-pass filter. It is shown that the SMC with perturbation compensation is far superior to the conventional SMC in tracking control of the dynamic systems under model uncertainties and external disturbance conditions.

  • In this paper, we consider the anti-attack procedure of a ballistic missile defense system (BMDS) at different operating frequencies at its phased-array radar station. The interception performance is measured in terms of lateral divert (LD), which denotes the minimum acceleration amount available in an interceptor to compensate for prediction error for a successful intercept. Dependence of the frequency on estimation accuracy that leads directly to prediction error is taken into account, in terms of angular measurement noises. The estimation extraction is performed by means of an extended Kalman filter (EKF), considering two typical re-entry trajectories of a non-maneuvering ballistic missile (BM). The simulation results show better performance at higher frequency for both tracking and intercepting aspects.

  • This paper presents a frequency-response test performed on an antagonistic actuation system consisting of two Mckibben pneumatic artificial muscles and a pneumatic circuit. A linear model, capable of estimating the dynamic characteristics of the antagonistic system in the operating range of pneumatic artificial muscles, was optimally calculated based on frequency-response results and applied to a multiple simultaneous specification control scheme. Trajectory tracking results showed that the presented multiple simultaneous specification controller, built experimentally by three PD typed sample controllers, satisfied successfully all required control specifications; rising time, maximum overshoot, steady-state error.

  • This paper presents a full digital control strategy for parallel connected modular inverter systems. Each modular inverter is a high frequency (HF) AC link inverter which is composed of a HF inverter and a HF transformer followed by a cycloconverter. To achieve equal sharing of the load current and to suppress the circulating currents among the modules, a three-loop control strategy, consisting of a common output voltage regulation (OVR) loop, individual circulating current suppression (CCS) loops and individual inner current tracking (ICT) loops, is proposed. The ICT loops are implemented with predictive current control from which high precision current tracking can be obtained. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by simulation and experimental results from parallel connected two full-bridge HF AC link inverter modules.

  • This paper has been studied the parallel resonant inverter which controlling the constant power and tracking the load resonant frequency with PLL is possible, in order to minimize switching losses. The current-fed full-bridge type parallel resonant inverter of an induction heating system was composed of IGBT in switching device. For regulating the output power of an induction heating system, the Fuzzy controller is used. The Fuzzy controller makes the control signal for a stable power regulating control and when reference is changed, it is superior to adaptability. It has been evaluated a stable behavior for a noise with switching and a load disturbance.

  • Radio signal tracking has been developed especially in military as well as in other industries. It is necessary that an adaptive system trace the signal varying its PRI and frequency. In this paper we proposed a system to adapt various PRI and frequency using a neural network model named Error Back Propagation. Fist we prepared learning data by separating signal into time intervals and did some experiments with the teaming data. We found that the system had good effectiveness in tracing varying PRI and frequency signals.

  • In this paper, we propose a widerange array microphone for lecturer tracked with Frequency Modulated Continuous Waveform (FMCW) radar sensor. Time Difference-of-Arrival (TDoA) is often used as audio tracking, but the tracking accuracy is poor because the frequency of the voice is low and the relative frequency change is large. FMCW radar has a simple structure and is used to detect obstacles for vehicles, and the resolution can be archived to several centimeter. It is shown that the sensor is useful for detecting a speaker in open area such as a lecture, and we propose an wide range 4-element array microphone beamforming system. Through some experiments, the proposed system is able to adequately track the location and showed a 8.6dB improvement over the selection of the best microphone.

  • Due to the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) modernization, the recently launched GNSS satellites transmit signals at various frequency bands of L1, L2 and L5. Considering the Korea Positioning System (KPS) signal and other GNSS augmentation signals in the future, there is a high probability of applying more complex communication techniques to the new GNSS signals. For the reason, GNSS receivers based on flexible Software Defined Radio (SDR) concept needs to be developed to evaluate various experimental communication techniques by accessing each signal processing module in detail. In this paper, we introduce a multi-constellation (GPS/Galileo/BeiDou) multi-band (L1/L2/L5) SDR by utilizing Ettus USRP N210. The signal reception module of the developed SDR includes down-conversion, analog-to-digital conversion, signal acquisition, and tracking. The down-conversion module is designed based on the super-heterodyne method fitted for MHz sampling. The signal acquisition module performs PRN code generation and FFT operation and the signal tracking module implements delay/phase/frequency locked loops only by software. In general, it is difficult to sample entire main lobe components of L5 band signals due to their higher chipping rate compared with L1 and L2 band signals. Experiment result shows that it is possible to acquire and track the under-sampled signals by the developed SDR.
