Academic libraries are trying to develop fully mobile web sites and mobile applications so that users can access to their services even using mobile devices. As the mobilization trends of library services increase in quantity, we need to more focus on what mobile services users want, ultimately for the growth with quality. This study seeks to explore users' needs and uses of mobile library services and then suggests solutions for improving the mobile services in academic libraries. This study conducted on and off-line surveys with 608 students from two universities, which have provided active mobile services with both a mobile web site and an application. The questionnaire was designed to elicit information on respondents' frequency of mobile library visit, the purpose of visit, the reason to use/not use, how to access to the services, the preferred types of the services, satisfaction and dissatisfaction factors, and urgently needed improvements. Based on the findings, this study discussed strategies to improve the quality of mobile services and to increase in users' visit.

This study analyzed the contracts for library remuneration, amount of the remuneration, average amount of the remuneration in relation to kinds of libraries, distribution of the remuneration, and types and publication year of the works to be collected remuneration based on the data during 2004~2014 from the KORRA. As results, current library remuneration system has limitations for libraries to digitize and transmit to the public their collections, Also, there are some limitations to the protection for copyright holders because the amount of the remuneration collected from libraries has declined and non distribution remuneration has been so high. This study suggested that the library remuneration system needs to be revised considering the scope of library materials to be digitized and predicted frequency of use. Also, the better practical solution to protect copyright holders is not a raise of the library remuneration but the efficient use of the non distribution remuneration.

Recently, public libraries have increased in quantity, while various problems have arisen regarding the operation of public libraries, such as lack of librarian manpower and facilities. Additionally, an increase in the number of public libraries does not correlate to an increase in the utilization of public libraries, and thus developing various services is needed to maintain the continued use of public libraries. This study examined which types of use motivations affect the intention of knowledge exchange in public libraries when using public libraries based on the self-determination theory. It also looked at how the use motivations and the intention of knowledge exchange vary depending on the frequency of public library use. According to an online survey of 230 users of public libraries, extrinsic motivation, intrinsic motivation, autonomy, competence, and relatedness as independent variables had a positive impact on the level of knowledge exchange. In addition, the higher the frequency of public library use, the higher the needs for autonomy and relatedness were. Based on the results, it was suggested that the knowledge exchange needs to be established as a new service of public libraries by offsetting extrinsic motivation that emerged from by negative influences and promoting intrinsic motivation, autonomy and competence.

The purpose of this national study is to identify the factors affecting the public library use among the Korean adult population. The study constructed a model of three types of factors to explain the frequency of public library visits: an individual's socio-demographic characteristics, input and output measures of the local library, and the community size and library investment of the local government. The data were collected from both a national representative sample of 1,000 adults of 18 years old or above who participated in a web survey and the 2013 National Library Statistics of Korea. It was found that a more frequent public library visit occurred when a person who read more and lived closer to the library, which was newly established in a small to medium-sized scale, who lives in a city with a greater population and with more library staff members serving a fewer patrons. Implications for future public library constructions and for public services were suggested based on the study findings.

The purpose of this study is to analyse theses and dissertations cited in research literature, particularly subjects, age, origin, and frequency of use of them, and kinds of papers that cite them. The theses and dissertations cited in the journal articles and theses dissertations in the fields of library science, information science and bibliography are analysed in this study. The maj or conclusions made in this study are summarised as follows. (1) Theses and dissertations form $5.6\%$ of the total citations. (2) $87.1\%$ of the cited theses and dissertations are found in theses and dissertations and $12.9\%$ in journal articles. (3) Most of research papers cite less than six theses and dissertations. The average number of theses and dissertations cited in a research paper in 2.7. (4) Most of the cited theses and dissertations are found in research papers from their own field and $24.5\%$ in those from other fields. (5) Researchers prefer to cite recently produced theses and dissertations $63.5\%$ of the total citations are those produced within three years in the past. (6) The theses and dissertations form most part$(89.0\%)$ of the total citations. 88.9% of the cited foreign theses and dissertations are found in theses and dissertations, and $11.1\%$ in journal articles.

This study examined the awareness and use of cloud computing services by librarians in selected universities in Edo State. A descriptive survey research design was employed and the instrument used was questionnaire. The population of the study was 132 professional and Para-professional librarians. The total enumeration technique was used to select the entire population because the size was manageable. Simple percentage, frequency count, and mean were used to analyze the data collected. From the analysis of data gathered, it was found that the librarians are aware of the use of OCLC, world cat, and Google docs to a very high extent. It was found that the librarians used cloud computing services and technologies for collection development functions and cataloging. Based on the findings it was recommended that management of the libraries should support librarians by providing adequate funding to the library in order to support the acquisition and maintenance of infrastructure for cloud computing.

This study purposed to discover whether or not academic libraries reflect these changing roles. We selected K University as the research target and surveyed user satisfaction of materials, staff services, facilities, electronic devices, media, and so on. The research findings are as follows: 1) the frequency of library visits of University K was on the high side, 2) the primary purpose of using the academic library was associated with learning or reading, therefore, the most used library spaces were related to that, 3) the most used library materials were 'general books', the most unused were 'reference books', 4) the most preferred way to obtain needed materials when failing to find wanted materials was 'Contact librarian'. A similar phenomenon occurred in terms of facility use, 5) university K's users were usually satisfied with the loan policy, 6) the rate of users who don't know whether there is user education was very high, the rate of users who have no experience with user education was extremely low. These research findings can be referenced by library management to improve libraries' service quality and take advantage of complex spatial configurations.

This paper gives a summary and overview of a survey conducted at the catalogues of five universities in Daegu during November 1982. The major objective of this study was to secure information about user needs in order to improve the catalogue in Korean university libraries. Data was collected by a combined method of questionnaire and interview. A total of 379 respondents were taken on a randomly selected sample of catalogue users. Results of the survey can be summarized as follows: 1. Eighty-eight percent of the students answered that they had used the library more than twice a month. Nevertheless the number of students consulting the catalogue with the same frequency was only 220, or a n.0, pproximately 58 percent. Those who used the library most tended to use the catalogue more than those who rarely came to the library. 2. Those who had been shown how to use their own catalogue were only 32.5percent of which the students found the instruction sufficient for them to be able to use the catalogue were only 37.5 percent. In particular, they stated that instructions by printed materials and/or library orientation were so poor that they didn't give much help in using the catalogue. This problem makes many libraries to review their own method of instruction in order to encourage patrons to use the catalogue more effectively. 3. Most of the students consulted the catalogue in order to locate library materials. Known-item searches and subject searches were 84 and 16 percent respectively. While 70.5 percent of the students used the author-title catalogue without any difficulties, only 35.5 percent of those stated that using the classed catalogue was easy. 4. It was surprising that the number of students using title access in the search was far greater than that of students using author access. In contrast with this, other studies conducted by many earlier overseas investigators revealed that the great majority of patrons tended to use the latter first. Therefore, we should put more emphasis on the title entries in the catalogue itself as well as cataloging rules. 5. Most useful bibliographic elements in the entry were author, title, call number, date and publisher whereas edition, series statement and the location of publisher were rarely used compared with the other elements. Content note was the most desirable element in the entry to be involved, for many catalogers were used not to describe it on the note area. 6. The chief reason given for not using the catalogue was "I can manage without it" with "It's difficult to understand contents of the card entry." The other one was "It's useless to search materials by the catalogue because I've failed so many times to obtain them out of the stock." In response to this, circulation and acquisition system should be improved not to make such complaints any more.
