The objective of the present work is to develop a time-domain numerical method of broadband noise in a cascade of airfoils. This paper focuses on dipolar broadband noise sources, resulting from the interaction of turbulent inflows with the flat-plate airfoil cascade. The turbulence response of a two-dimensional cascade is studied by solving both of the linearised and the full nonlinear Euler equations employing accurate higher order spatial differencing, time stepping techniques and non-reflecting inflow/outflow boundary condition. The time-domain result using the linearised Euler equations shows good agreement with the analytical solution using the modified LINSUB code. Through the comparison of the nonlinear time-domain result using the full nonlinear Euler equations with the linear, it is found that the acoustic mode amplitude of the nonlinear response is less than that of the linear response due to the energy cascade from low frequency components to the high frequency ones. Considering the merits of the time-domain methods over the typical time-linearised frequency-domain analysis, the current method is expected to be promising tools for analyzing the effects of the airfoil shapes, non-uniform background flow, linear-nonliear regimes on the broadband noise due to turbulence-cascade interaction.
The present investigation deals with the thermomechanical interactions in an orthotropic thermoelastic homogeneous body in the context of fractional order theory of thermoelasticity due to time harmonic sources. The application of a time harmonic concentrated and distributed sources has been considered to show the utility of the solution obtained. Assuming the disturbances to be harmonically time dependent, the expressions for displacement components, stress components and temperature change are derived in frequency domain. Numerical inversion technique has been used to determine the results in physical domain. The effect of frequency on various components has been depicted through graphs.
Analysis of faults in induction motors has become a major field of research due to importance of loss and damage reduction and maximum online performance of motors. There are several methods to analyze the faults in an induction motor from conventional Fourier transform to modern decision-making neural networks. Considering detectability of fault among all methods, a new fault detection solution has been proposed; it is called as frequency-domain Discrete Wavelet Transform (FD-DWT). In this method, the stator current is decomposed through series of low- and high-pass filters and consequently, the fault characteristics are more visible, because additional components have been reduced. The objective of this paper is early detection of input voltage unbalance in induction motor using wavelet transform in frequency domain. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method in early detection of faults.
The stability margin of the LQ regulator is investigated in the time domain. it is shown that the same guaranteed gain margin as that of the frequency domain analysis can be obtained with simple assumptions for the continuous time systems. It is also shown that the allowable modelling error bound can be expressed in terms of system matrices and Riccati equation solution. Guaranteed qain. margin and the allowable modelling error bound for the discrete time systems are also obtained by the similar procedures. In this case, through the some examples, the gain margin is shown to be less conservative than the frequency domain analysis result.
In this paper, we study the first-order system least-squares (FOSLS) spectral method for parabolic partial differential equations. There were lots of least-squares approaches to solve elliptic partial differential equations using finite element approximation. Also, some approaches using spectral methods have been studied in recent. In order to solve the parabolic partial differential equations in parallel, we consider a parallel numerical method based on a hybrid method of the frequency-domain method and first-order system least-squares method. First, we transform the parabolic problem in the space-time domain to the elliptic problems in the space-frequency domain. Second, we solve each elliptic problem in parallel for some frequencies using the first-order system least-squares method. And then we take the discrete inverse Fourier transforms in order to obtain the approximate solution in the space-time domain. We will introduce such a hybrid method and then present a numerical experiment.
The local motion at the top of an A-frame fixed on a research vessel for deep sea ROV floating in irregular waves is studied in the time-domain. The motion is analyzed in the time-domain using the convolution integral of the radiation forces. The memory effect functions and infinite frequency added masses are obtained from the solution of the three dimensional improved Green integral equation in the frequency domain by making use of the Fourier transformation.

In this study a numerical method for soil-pile interaction analysis buried in multi-layered half planes is presented in frequency domain using FE-BE coupling. The total soil-pile interaction system is divided into two parts so called far field and near field beam elements are used for modeling a pile and coupled with plain strain elements for soil modeling. Boundary element formulation using the multi-layered dynamic fundamental solution is adopted to the far field and coupled with near field modeled by finite elements. In order to verify the proposed soil-pile interaction analysis method the dynamic responses of a pile on multi-layered dynamic fundamental solution is adopted to the far field and coupled with near field modeled by finite elements. In order to verify the proposed soil-pile interaction analysis method the dynamic responses of a pile on multi-layered half-planes are performed and compared with experiment results. Through this developed method the dynamic response analysis of a pile buried in multi-layered half planes can be calculated effectively in frequency domain.

The differential quadrature (DQ) and teaching-learning based optimization (TLBO) methods are coupled to introduce a hybrid numerical method for maximizing fundamental natural frequency of laminated composite skew plates. The fiber(s) orientations are selected as design variable(s). The first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is used to obtain the governing equations of the plate. The equations of motion and the related boundary conditions are discretized in space domain by employing the DQ method. The discretized equations are transferred from the time domain into the frequency domain to obtain the fundamental natural frequency. Then, the DQ solution is coupled with the TLBO method to find the maximum frequency of the plate and its related optimum stacking sequences of the laminate. Convergence and applicability of the proposed method are shown and the optimum fundamental frequency parameter of the plates with different skew angle, boundary conditions, number of layers and aspect ratio are obtained. The obtained results can be used as a benchmark for further studies.
Since human listening is very sensitive when the sound hit him, the subjective index of sound quality is required. Therefore, at each situation of sound evaluation its composed with the sound quality factor. But, when substituting the level of one frequency band we could not see the tendency of substitution at whole frequency band during the sound quality evaluation. In this study a design of experiment is used. The frequency domain is divided into an equally 12 parts and each level of domain whether is given increase or decrease due to the change of frequency band based on 'sharp' and 'annoy' of the sound quality is analyzed. By using the design of experiment the number of test is reduce very effectively by the number of experiment and each band the main effect will be as a solution. The case of sound quality for 'sharp' and 'annoy' at each band, the change of band (increase or decrease of sound pressure or keep maintain) which will be the most effects on the characteristics of sound quality can be identify and this will be able to us to select the objective frequency band. Through these obtained results the physical changes of level at arbitrary frequency domain sensitivity can be adapted.
Kirchhoff 적분식을 이용하여 외부 음향 문제의 시간 영역 응답을 계산하는 경우, 주파수영역 해석과 마찬가지로 가상적인 내부 음향 모드에 기인한 비유일성 문제가 발생한다. 이를 해결하는 방법들 중의 하나로서 CHIEF(Combined Helmholtz Integral Equation Formulation) 방법이 쓰이는데, 이는 몇몇 내부 수음점의 응답을 0으로 추가하여 구속하는 조건을 부가하는 기법이다.
