  • In this paper, a robust fuzzy precompensated PID controller using immune algorithm for load frequency control of 2-area power system is proposed. Here, a fuzzy precompensated PID controller is designed as a fuzzy logic based precompensation approach for PID controller. This scheme is easily implemented by adding a fuzzy precompensator to an existing PID controller. We optimize the fuzzy precompensator with an immune algorithm for complementing the demerit such as the difficulty of the component selection of fuzzy controller, namely, scaling factor, membership function and fuzzy rules. Simulation results show that the proposed robust load frequency controller can achieve good performance even in the presence of generation rate constraints.

  • In this paper, an advanced PWM modulation strategy for driving a variable-speed induction motor is introduced. According to this method, the technique of efficiently eliminating harmonics component is achived. A switching pattern was computed making use of the near-proportionality of voltage and frequency in AC machines operating with constant flux. At low magnitudes and low frequencies of the foundamental, many more harmonics are eliminated than at high magnitudes and frequencies. In order to keep the inverter switching frequency constant over the output frequency range, chopping times diminishes as the frequency of the fundamental increases.

  • This paper deals with a stand-alone wind energy conversion system (WECS) with an isolated asynchronous generator (IAG) and voltage and frequency (VF) control feeding three-phase four-wire loads. The reference generator currents are estimated using the instantaneous symmetrical component theory to control the voltage and frequency of an IAG system. A three-leg voltage source converter (VSC) with an isolated star/delta transformer is used as an integrated VSC. An integrated VSC with a battery energy storage system (BESS) is used to control the active and reactive powers of the WECS. The WECS is modeled and simulated in MATLAB using the Simulink and the Sim Power System (SPS) toolboxes. The proposed VF controller functions as a voltage and frequency regulator, a load leveler, a load balancer and a harmonic eliminator in the WECS. A comparison is made on the rating of the VSC with and without ac capacitors connected at the terminals of an IAG. Simulation and test results are presented to verify the control algorithm.

  • Significance verification of electric fabric compared with existing electrode is very useful for the wearable and ubiquitous healthcare. In this paper, we verified the significance between Ag/AgCl electrode and electric fabric in dry-normal condition through heart rate variability analysis. We can find 98 % or more similarity about low frequency and high frequency which is important parameter for the heart rate variability analysis between two different electrodes in experiment. From this result, we confirmed that the power spectral density of low frequency, high frequency component from the electric fabric has high similarity compared with the result of heart rate variability from Ag/AgCl electrode in dry-normal condition.

  • For the design of high efficiency electric machines, analysis of higher harmonic frequency components of the magnetic induction is necessary. We have measured ac magnetic properties of non-oriented silicon steel under harmonic frequencies ranging from $3^rd$ (180 Hz) to $9^th$(540 Hz) and harmonic amplitude components from 10% to 50% of the total amplitude ($B_max$=1.5T). From the experiment, it is found that, if the magnetic induction waveform has above $9^th$ harmonic frequency components of the magnetic induction, the core losses only depended on the harmonic amplitude component, but if harmonic frequency becomes lower than 9th harmonic frequency, the core losses depend on the phase angle and the harmonic amplitude, and phase angle should be considered in the design of electric machine.

  • Extreme waves are generated in a model basin based on directional wave focusing. The targeted wave field is described by double summation method and it is applied to serpent-type wavemaker system. The extreme crest amplitude at a designed location is obtained by syncronizing the phases and focusing the directions of wave components. Two distinguished spectrums of constant wave amplitude and constant wave steepness are adapted to describe the frequency distribution of component waves. The surface profile of generated wave packets is measured by wave guage array and the effects of dominant spectral parameters governing extreme wave characteristics are investigated. It is found that frequency bandwidth, center frequency, shape of frequency spectrum and directional range play a significant role in the wave focusing. In particular, the directional effect significantly enhances the wave focusing efficiency.

  • In this paper, we propose a method that applies Adaptive Frequency Sampling(AFS) technique to the equivalent circuit model for RF passive components. Thes days wireless communication system is getting smaller and smaller. So EMI/EMC is an issue in RF. We can solve PI(Power Integrity)/SI(Signal Integrity) that one of EMI/EMC problem apply IFFT for 3D EM simulation multiple with input signal. That is time comuming task. Therefore equivalent circuit model using RF passive component is important. AFS schemes are implemented to obtain the rational functions. S parameters of the equivalent circuit moldel is compared to those of EM simulation in case of the microstrip line structure.

  • In this paper, a sub-harmonic dual-gate FET mixer for IMT-2000 base-station was designed by using single-gate FET cascode structure and driven by the second order harmonic component of LO signal. The dual-gate FET mixer has the characteristic of high conversion gain and good isolation between ports. Sub-harmonic mixing is frequently used to extend RF bandwidth for fixed LO frequency or to make LO frequency lower. Furthermore, the LO-to-RF isolation characteristic of a sub-harmonic mixer is better than that of a fundamental mixer because the frequency separation between the RE and LO frequency is large. As RF power is -30dBm and LO power is 0dBm, the designed mixer shows the -47.17dBm LO-to-RF leakage power level, 10dB conversion gain, -0.5dBm OIP3, -10.5dBm IIP3 and -1dBm 1dB gain compression point.

  • This paper presents a 37.5kVA (125kVp, 300mA) high frequency inverter type power supply for diagonostic X-ray generator with two HFHV (high-frequency high-voltage) isolating transformers. The output regulations, X-ray tuve voltage and tube current, are obtained by two high frequency inverters with the each other feedback PI controller and operating time switch for selecting shooting time and synchronizing two inverters. The operating modes and design consideration of the proposed power supply are given. Issues in the design of two HFHV isolating transformersfors high volage genrating and filament heating are discussed. Experimental results are presented to verify the performance of the designed power supply for varying load conditions. The proposed apparatus has several advnatages, e.g., the fast rising time of tube voltae, accuracy and reduced component size etc.

  • This paper presents a method for the extraction of the fundamental frequency from transient signals using Prony's analysis. There exists transient voltages and current after a fault including an exponetially decaying do component and harmonics as well as the fundamental frequency. As Prony's analysis uses exponetially decaying functions as basis functions it can extract the fundamental frequency precisely from transient signals. The results of comparison with DFT are also shown.
