  • In this paper, a robust levitation controller for an attractive MAGLVE system is designed. The design of an H$\infty$ controller based on LMI method is proposed for the control of a simple magnetic levitation system. Attractive MAGLEV system is highly nonlinear and open-loop unstable, and has a very restricted equilibrium region, Also, this system has to tolerate various disturbances caused by propulsion. Thus a robust feedback controller is needed to control the system efficiently. We first formulate a mathematical model for the single magnet levitation system.   • This paper considers a new weighed model reduction method using block diagonal solutions of Lyapunov inequalities. With the input and/or output weighting function, the stability of the reduced order system is guaranteed and an a priori error bound is proposed. to achieve this after finding the solutions of two Lyapunov inequalities and balancing the full order system, we find the reduced order systems using the direct truncation and the singular perturbation approximation. The proposed method is compared with other existing methods using numerical examples.

$H_{\infty}$ 제어기법을 이용한 저속디젤기관의 속도제어 (Speed Control of the Low Speed Diesel Engine by $H_{\infty}$ Controller Design Method)

  • In 1980's to 1990's the marine propulsion diesel engines have been developed into lower speed and longer stroke for the energy saving(small S.F.O.C.). As these new trends the convetional mechnical-hydraulic governors were not adapted to the new requirements and the digital governors have been adopted in the marine use. The digital governors usually use the control algorithms such as the PID control, optimal control, adaptive control and etc. While the engine has delay time and parameter variations these control algorithms have difficulty in considering the stability and the robustness for the model uncertainty. In this study, the $H_{\infty}$ controller design method are applied to the speed control of the low speed marine diesel engine. By comparison the $H_{\infty}$ control results with the PID control results, the validity of the $H_{\infty}$ controller under the delay time and parameter variations is confirmed.

구조-음향 연성현상을 갖는 방사 방향을 가질 수 있는 방사체 설계방법 (A Design Method for Direction Selective Structural-acoustic Coupled Radiator)

  • This paper presents a design method for the structural-acoustic coupled radiator that can emit sound in the desired direction. A coupled system that has a finite space and a semi-infinite space separated by two flexible walls and an opening is considered. An objective function is selected to maximize radiation power on a main axis and minimize a side lobe level. To get initial values, prediction of a pressure distribution on field points and radiation pattern of the structural-acoustic coupling system is shown at a coupled-resonant frequency. Three different optimization methods are adapted to design the coupled radiator. Pressure and intensity distribution of the designed radiator is presented.

  • This paper introduces the near field shading beamformer using widely known Chebyshev and Hanning window in the field of digital signal processing. The proposed shading beamformer improves the estimation of range as well as azimuth angle of targe residing in near field. A series of sensor weighting values are calculated from the FFT operation of given shading functions in time domain. This paper verifies the performance of the focused beamformer having the proposed shading sensor weights which are used to detect the range of target. Throughout computer simulations this paper exploits the performance improvement of the proposed shading beamformer as varying the frequency band of the received radiated signal along the non-uniform array.

  • 대역분할 부호화방식의 표준인 비가역 9/7 JPEG2000의 경우 0.15bpp 이하에서 양자화 손실로 배경과 에지 부분에서 급격한 화질 왜곡이 발생하는 문제점을 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 고주파대역들의 L-pdf(Laplace probability density function) 통계특성을 이용한 VQ(Visual Quantizer)를 제안하였다. 제안된 VQ는 재생영상의 화질왜곡을 최소화하기 위한 비주얼파라메타와 효율적인 비트율 감축을 위한 가중치 파라메타를 각각 사용하여 설계되었다. 실험결과 제안된 VQ는 0.15bpp이하에서도 재생영상의 시각적 손실을 최소화하면서 재생영상의 화질왜곡 기준척도인 MSE(Mean-Squared Error)도 최소화 할 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, the new method that estimates a sensing ability of smart sensor will be proposed. A study is estimation method that evaluates sensing ability about smart sensor respectively. According to acceleration(g) and displacement changing, we estimated sensing ability of smart sensor using SAI(Sensing Ability Index) method respectively. Smart sensors was made fer experiment. The types of smart sensor are two types(hard and soft smart sensor). Smart sensors developed for recognition of material. Experiment and analysis are executed for estimate the SAI method. In develop a smart sensor, the SAI method will be useful for finding optical design condition of smart sensor that can sense a material. And then dynamic characteristics of smart sensors(frequency changing, acceleration changing, critical point, etc.) are evaluated respectively through new method(SAI) that use the power spectrum density. Dynamic characteristic of sensor is evaluated with SAI method relatively. We can use the SAI for finding critical point of smart sensor, too.

  • This paper deals with the sensing ability of the smart sensor that has the sensing ability to distinguish materials according to the input condition changing. This is a study of dynamic characteristics of sensor. We have developed a new signal processing method that can distinguish among different materials. The smart sensor was developed for recognition of materials. Experiments and analysis were executed to estimate ability to recognize objects according to the input condition. First, we developed the advanced smart sensor. Second, we developed the new method, which has the capability sensing of different materials. Dynamic characteristics of the smart sensor were evaluated relatively through a new $R_{SAI}$ method. According to frequency changing, influence of the smart sensor are evaluated through a new recognition index ($R_{SAI}$) that ratio of sensing ability index. Applications of this method are for finding abnormal conditions of objects (auto-manufacturing), feeling of objects (medical product), robotics, safely diagnosis of structure, etc.

Adaptive Compensation Method Using the Prediction Algorithm for the Doppler Frequency Shift in the LEO Mobile Satellite Communication System

  • In low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication systems, more severe phase distortion due to Doppler shift is frequently detected in the received signal than in cases of geostationary earth orbit (GEO) satellite systems or terrestrial mobile systems. Therefore, an estimation of Doppler shift would be one of the most important factors to enhance performance of LEO satellite communication system. In this paper, a new adaptive Doppler compensation scheme using location information of a user terminal and satellite, as well as a weighting factor for the reduction of prediction error is proposed. The prediction performance of the proposed scheme is simulated in terms of the prediction accuracy and the cumulative density function of the prediction error, with considering the offset variation range of the initial input parameters in LEO satellite system. The simulation results showed that the proposed adaptive compensation algorithm has the better performance accuracy than Ali's method. From the simulation results, it is concluded the adaptive compensation algorithm is the most applicable method that can be applied to LEO satellite systems of a range of altitude between 1,000 km and 2,000 km for the general error tolerance level, M = 250 Hz.

영상 특성에 적응적인 블록 DCT 기반 지각적 디지털 워터마킹 (Image Adaptive Block DCT-Based Perceptual Digital Watermarking)

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 영상 압축 표준과 호환되며 영상 또는 비디오의 특성에 따라 워터마크를 삽입하는 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 워터마크를 최대의 강도로 삽입하기 위해 블록내의 DCT 계수의 계층구조를 이용한 가중치 함수를 정의한다. 이 구조를 이용하면 DCT 블록 내에서 공간-주파수 지역화 특성을 이용할 수 있다. 워터마크의 검출 단계에서는 통계적 분석을 통한 주어진 오검출 확률에 대한 최적의 사후 임계값을 계산하는 방법을 제시한다. 실험결과는 제안된 방법이 여러 가지 신호처리 공격과 널리 사용되는 JPEG, MPEG 부호화에 강인함을 보여준다.
