  • This paper proposes the application of harmonic constraints to address the problems caused by abnormal voltage increases when electric railway vehicles are running. The AC line that supplies the train with power during operation is used to provide electricity of 25kV/60 Hz, but gradually the size and frequency of harmonics involved in the line are varied with the technological evolution of the railroad vehicle electrical equipment. An increase in heat losses due to the failure of the instrument transformer (PT), the main circuit device, which is a serious problem with the recent train safety operation, or to the main displacement voltage. When high frequency components are introduced through low frequency Transformers of the main circuit device, the high intensity of the components is caused by the high intensity of the core and the current flow of the parasitic core is increased, thus generating heat. To solve this problem, the recent adjustment of the sequence has applied artificial NOTCH OFF of the power converter. However, the method of receiving and controlling the OFF signal operates by interaction between the ground and the vehicle's devices, thus it is invalid in the event of failure, and an actual accident is occurring. Therefore, the harmonic currents were required to prevent possible flow of harmonics, and conducted a study to prevent accidental occurrence of train accidents and to verify feasibility of the device through the simulations of the train's experimental analysis and the simulations of the train for safe operation.

  • This paper explains stocker system that is operated in the long distance and linear area. The power system of stocker system uses Contactless Power Supply(CPS) to reduce problems of particle generation. The circuit configuration of CPS is simplified than the conventional ones, and the prototype is designed for commercial product. To transfer output data(information) from crane(secondary vehicle system) of the CPS to Primary system optical modem and TMS320F243(DSP, TI) are used between primary and secondary. power system are used, and the output voltage is controlled by operating frequency modulation. This paper is applied to stocker system controlled as one to one communication between the moving part(secondary system) and fixed part(primary system) of crane using optical modem. The study makes one to multi communication between fixed part and moving part for the purpose of multi crane operation of stocker system and must be done in the future.

  • This paper describes a high speed interface circuit using redundant multi-valued logic for high speed communication ICs. This circuit is composed of encoding circuit that serial binary data are received and converted into parallel redundant multi-valued data, and decoding circuit that converts redundant multi-valued data to parallel binary data. Because of the multi-valued data conversion, this circuit makes it possible to achieve higher operating speeds than that of a conventional binary logic. Using this logic, the proposed 1:4 DEMUX (demultiplexer, serial-parallel converter), was designed using a 0.35um standard CMOS technology. Proposed DEMUX is achieved an operating speed of 4.5Gb/s with a supply voltage of 3.3V and with power consumption of 53mW. The operating speed of this circuit is limited by the maximum frequency which the 0.35um process has. Therefore, this circuit is to achieve CMOS communication ICs with an operating speed greater than 10Gb/s in submicron process of high operating frequency.

  • A single-phase PVPCS(photovoltaic power conditioning system) that contains a single phase dc-ac inverter tends to draw an ac ripple current at twice the out frequency. Such a ripple current may shorten passive elements life span and worsen output current THD. As a result, it may reduce the efficiency of the whole PVPCS system. In this paper, the ripple current propagation is analyzed, and two methods to reduce the ripple current are proposed. Firslyt, this paper presents notch filter with IP voltage controller to reject specific current ripple in single-phase PVPCS. The notch filter can be designed that suppress just only specific frequency component and no phase delay. The proposed notch filter can suppress output command signal in the ripple bandwidth for reducing output current THD. Secondly, for reducing specific current ripple, the other method is feed-forward compensation to incorporate a current control loop in the dc-dc converter. The proposed notch filter and feed-forward compensation method have been verified with computer simulation and simulation results obtained demonstrate the validity of the proposed control scheme.

  • These Xenon flashlamp power supply for Ultra Violet has converter with high voltage conversion ratio. General model is composed of transformer with high voltage conversion ratio and voltage doubler rectifier circuit. Purpose of power supply leads dielectric breakdown of Xenon flashlamp and passes current rapidly. When passing current, it has to limit current to avoid over-heat, damage of electrode and acceleration of gas oxidation which are cause of performance degradation of lamps. Generally, inductors and resistors, which are called as "Ballast," are used to limit currents. Generally, Transformer has high turn ratio to make high voltages. But we can get high voltages using the transformer with low turn ratio which is driven with self resonance. Also, an advantage of self resonance is to make a circuit simply through impedance of transformer in resonance frequency which filters output voltage. As using an unique impedance of transformer, the circuit does not need other impedance elements like the ballast. So the power supply assures high efficiency of the arc discharge.

  • This paper examines the sampling and jitter specifications and considerations for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) software receivers. Software radio (SWR) technologies are being used in the implementation of communication receivers in general and GNSS receivers in particular. With the advent of new GPS signals, and a range of new Galileo and GLONASS signals soon becoming available, GNSS is an application where SWR and software-defined radio (SDR) are likely to have an impact. The sampling process is critical for SWR receivers, where it occurs as close to the antenna as possible. One way to achieve this is by BandPass Sampling (BPS), which is an undersampling technique that exploits aliasing to perform downconversion. BPS enables removal of the IF stage in the radio receiver. The sampling frequency is a very important factor since it influences both receiver performance and implementation efficiency. However, the design of BPS can result in degradation of Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) due to the out-of-band noise being aliased. Important to the specification of both the ADC and its clocking Phase- Locked Loop (PLL) is jitter. Contributing to the system jitter are the aperture jitter of the sample-and-hold switch at the input of ADC and the sampling-clock jitter. Aperture jitter effects have usually been modeled as additive noise, based on a sinusoidal input signal, and limits the achievable Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR). Jitter in the sampled signal has several sources: phase noise in the Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (VCO) within the sampling PLL, jitter introduced by variations in the period of the frequency divider used in the sampling PLL and cross-talk from the lock line running parallel to signal lines. Jitter in the sampling process directly acts to degrade the noise floor and selectivity of receiver. Choosing an appropriate VCO for a SWR system is not as simple as finding one with right oscillator frequency. Similarly, it is important to specify the right jitter performance for the ADC. In this paper, the allowable sampling frequencies are calculated and analyzed for the multiple frequency BPS software radio GNSS receivers. The SNR degradation due to jitter in a BPSK system is calculated and required jitter standard deviation allowable for each GNSS band of interest is evaluated. Furthermore, in this paper we have investigated the sources of jitter and a basic jitter budget is calculated that could assist in the design of multiple frequency SWR GNSS receivers. We examine different ADCs and PLLs available in the market and compare known performance with the calculated budget. The results obtained are therefore directly applicable to SWR GNSS receiver design.

  • A planar Bi-Sb multijunction thermal converter with high thermal sensitivity and small ac-dc transfer error has been fabricated by preparing the bifilar thin film Pt-heater and the hot junctions of thin film Bi-Sb thermopile on the $Si_{3}N_{4}/SiO_{2}/Si_{3}N_{4}$-diaphragm, which functions as a thermal isolation layer, and the cold junctions on the dielectric membrane supported with the Si-substrate, which acts as a heat sink, and its ac-dc transfer characteristics were investigated with the fast reversed dc method. The respective thermal sensitivities of the converter with single bifilar heater were about 10.1 mV/mW and 14.8 mV/mW in the air and vacuum, and those of the converter with dual bifilar heater were about 5.1 mV/mW and 7.6 mV/mW, and about 5.3 mV/mW and 7.8 mV/mW in the air and vacuum for the inputs of inside and outside heaters, indicating that the thermal sensitivities in the vacuum, where there is rarely thermal loss caused by gas, are higher than those in the air. The ac-dc voltage and current transfer difference ranges of the converter with single bifilar heater were about ${\pm}1.80\;ppm$ and ${\pm}0.58\;ppm$, and those of the converter with dual bifilar heater were about ${\pm}0.63\;ppm$ and ${\pm}0.25\;ppm$, and about ${\pm}0.53\;ppm$ and ${\pm}0.27\;ppm$, respectively, for the inputs of inside and outside heaters, in the frequency range below 10 kHz and in the air.

  • In this paper, in order to design the A / D converter with a high resolution of 14 bits or more for the biological signal processing, CMOS delta sigma modulator that is a 1.8V power supply voltage - were designed. we propose a new structure of The fourth order delta-sigma modulator that needs four op amps but we use only two op amps. By using a time -interleaving technique, we can re-construct the circuit and reuse the op amps. Also, we proposed a KT/C noise reduction circuit to reduce the thermal noise from a noisy resistor. We adjust the size of sampling capacitor between sampling time and integrating time, so we can reduce almost a half of KT/C noise. The measurement results of the chip is fabricated using a Magna 0.18um CMOS n-well1 poly 6 metal process. Power consumption is $828{\mu}W$ from a 1.8V supply voltage. The peak SNDR is measured as a 75.7dB and 81.3dB of DR at 1kHz input frequency and 256kHz sampling frequency. Measurement results show that KT/C noise reduction circuit enhance the 3dB of SNDR. FOM of the circuit is calculated to be 142dB and 41pJ / step.

  • Dielectric and piezoelectric properties of PMN-PZT ceramics with a high mechanical quality factor$(Q_m)$ and a low temperature sintering temperature were investigated as a function of PZN substitution in order to develop multilayer piezoelectric transformer for AC-DC converter. Multilayer piezoelectric transformers were subsequently manufactured using the PMN-PZN-PZT ceramic offering the optimal behavior and then the electrical performance were invetigated. At the sintering temperature of $940^{\circ}C$, density, electromechanical coupling factor$(k_p)$, mechanical qualify factor$(Q_m)$ and dielectric constant$(\varepsilon_r)$ of 8 mol% PZN substituted specimen were $7.73g/cm^3$, 0.524, 1573 and 1455, respectively. The PZN substitution caused a increase in the dielectric constant and the electromechnical coupling factor. The voltage step-up ratio of multilayer piezoelectric transformer showed the maximum value at near the resonant frequency of 76.55 kHz and increased according to the increase of load resistance. The multilayer piezoelectric transformer with the output impedance coincided with the load resistance showed the temperature increase of less than $20^{\circ}C$ at the output power of 10 W. Based on the results, the manufactured multilayer transformer using the low temperature sintered PMN-PZN-PZT ceramics can be stably driven for both step-up and down transformers.
