  • A quantization error model is suggested for analog to frequency(A/F) converter in strapdown inertial navigation system(SDINS),which is characterized by some white noise exciting the state variables. Also, effects on the performance of SDINS by analog to digital(A/D) converter and A/F converter are analyzed and compared via covariance simulation. As a result, A/F converter turns out to be superior to the A/D converter with respect to the induced navigation error and the difficulty in circuit realization. The quantization error model developed in this paper appears to be useful for optimal filter design.

  • This paper presents a single-switch buck converter with a ripple-free inductor current. In the proposed converter, the filter inductor current ripple is completely removed by utilizing an auxiliary circuit consisting of an additional winding of the filter inductor, an auxiliary inductor, and an auxiliary capacitor. Moreover, the ripple-free current characteristic is maintained under both light load and full load conditions. The theoretical analysis and performance of the proposed converter were verified with a 110W experimental prototype operating at a 107 kHz switching frequency.

  • This paper presents a zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) boost converter using a coupled inductor. It utilizes an additional winding to the boost inductor and an auxiliary diode. The ZVS characteristic of the proposed converter reduces the switching losses of the active power switches and raises the power conversion efficiency. The principle of operation and a system analysis are presented. The theoretical analysis and performance of the proposed converter were verified with a 100W experimental prototype operating at a 107 kHz switching frequency.

  • In this paper, analysis of a noise factor and an effective power strategy for the OLED dc-dc converter are described. One of the main reasons that one may not design the OLED power for dc-dc converter is that OLED's panel noise is composed of FFN(Frame Frequency Noise) and LFN(Line Frequency Noise). Into the bargain, FFN is caused by both the dc-dc (circuit) and driving circuit. It is hard to get rid of FFN, baeause FFN has very little results value for our ears. LFN is adjusted by analog compensation value. Actually, that is more important problem than FFN. It is known that voltage divider for OLED's mode variation is not good for compact power design. In the end, a circuit design for understanding OLED's noise and a novel muti-channel dc-dc converter were presented.

  • This paper proposes the LCC type high frequency resonant DC-DC converter using Power MOSFET as switching devices, and describes the characteristics and operating principles. LCC converter has the resonant capacitor instead of a source decoupling capacitor in the conventional half bridge parallel resonant converter. We performed an experiment to prove the propriety of proposed converter.

  • In this paper, new buck converter of a TV power system is presented. First, we devised a revised driving circuit for an emitter-coupled type buck converter, by which it is possible to reduce the material cost of transformers and voltage stress of power device. Secondly, we adopted a hybrid oscillation technique. When TV system is in off-stage, initial standby power which is necessary for remote controllable TV system is supplied by self-oscillating mode. Main power which is necessry in TV system bing on state is provided by an externally triggered oscillating mode. The switching frequency is synchronized to the oscillating frequency of horizontal deflection in TV, by which we can reduce picture noises and the size of power transformer. Thirdly, a simple error amplifier is inserted to the feed-back loop to keep the output voltage constant which means pulse width modulatio mode is added in driving part of power device. Finally, we showed by experiments that our proposed converter performs well enough to be close to the theoretically predicted values.

  • In the battery system, an isolated converter is used for the stability of the system when controlling the charge and discharge of the battery. A fixed frequency LLC converter which is a type of isolated converter, has the advantage of high efficiency and power density with zero voltage switching at high frequency. Therefore, in this paper, the operation analysis, design and experimental verification of the LLC resonant converter with high efficiency and high power density for the ESS system were conducted.

  • To achieve high efficiency in high power and high frequency applications, reduction of switching losses and noise is very important. In this paper, an improved zero voltage switching forward dc/dc converter is proposed. The proposed converter is constructed by using energy recovery snubbers in parallel with the main switches and output diodes of the conventional forward dc/dc converter. Due to the use of the energy recovery snubbers in the primary and secondary side, the proposed converter achieves zero-voltage-switching turn-off without switching losses for switching devices and output rectification diodes. The complete operating principles and experimental results will be presented.

  • The switching-mode power converter has been widely used because of its features of high efficiency and small weight and size. In the switching-mode power converter, the output voltage is generally controlled by varying the duty ratio of main switch. When a converter operates in steady state, duty ratio of the converter is kept constant. So the power of switching noise is concentrated in specific frequencies. The more white noise is injected, the more conducted EMI is reduced. But output-voltage is not sufficiently regulated. This is the reason why carrier frequency selection topology is proposed. In the case of carrier frequency selection, output-voltage of steady state and transient state is fully regulated. Spectrum analysis is performed on the Phase current and the CM noise voltage. The former is measured with Current Probe and the latter is achieved with LISN, which are connected to the spectrum analyzer respectively.

  • This paper investigates a high performance converter topology for hydrogen gas generation electrolysis system. The proposed converter topology consists of full-bridge inverter, medium frequency transformer, and diode rectifier. Hydrogen gas generation electrolysis process considered in the paper is analyzed and characterized by its equivalent circuit. The electrolysis cell is modeled as effective resistance, capacitance, inductance, and internal emf voltage source. The proposed converter topology provides enhanced efficiency of hydrogen gas generation process under the operating condition of dc output voltage with high frequency ripple on it. The high performance operation of proposed converter is confirmed through the simulation with the electrolysis cell considered in the equivalent circuit model.
