합성섬유보강 콘크리트의 내구특성 (Durability of Concrete Reinforced by Polypropylene Fivers)

  • Pavement concrete subjected to severe environmental condition may be vulnerable to frost attack practically where de-icing chemicals are used. This study focused on the investigation of durability characteristics of pavement concrete incorporation polypropylene fibers and application feasibility of these into the pavements of local roads and highway. A series of labortory tests were performed with main experimental variable such as fiber types, fiber contents. and type of concrete mix. The test of compressive strength was executed as primary tests, before the durability tests such as a scaling resistance were performed. De-icing salt resistance test was progressed by recycling freeze and thaw in the presence of a 4% calcium chloride solution. The deteriorated surfaces were rated by visual inspection and the loss weight were measured at every 5 cycles.

투수성 콘크리트의 동결융해 저항성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Freeze-Thaw Resistance of Water-permeable Concretes)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the resistance of water-permeable concretes to freezing and thawing action. The water-permeable concretes with cement-aggregate ratio of 1:5.5(by weight) and two kinds of admixture content [SP : superplasticizer(0, 1.0%), HPAE : high performance air entraining agent(0.5, 1%)] used OPC(ordinary portland cement) as binder were prepared, and then tested for relative dynamic modulus of elasiticity, mass change, length change and durablity factor. It's been concluded from the test results that the superior relative dynamic modulus of elasiticity and durability factor of water-permeable concretes were obtained at superplaciticizer 1.0% after 300 cycles. The water-permeable concretes used superplasiticizer 1.0% having relative durability factor of 88% after 300 cycles.

  • During recent years, the durability of concrete structures has been considered in concret practice and material research. To preserve the brittleness of concrete as well as energy absorption and impact resistance, amount of fiber usage has greatly increased in the field of public works. Ultra fine powder, silica fume, mixed into concrete, it reduce void of concrete structure. Especially, there's a great effect for strength improvement of concrete by initial pozzolanic reactions. For these reasons, if silica fume mixed into concrete, it decrease the total void by microfilter effect . Pozzolan reaction, between cement particle and silica powder, can elaborate the micro structure of matrix. And so, in this paper, we deal SFRC for the purpose of efficiently using of industrial by-products(silica fume). Also we performed the test for durability such as freeze-thaw resistance and accelerated carbonation of SFRC using silica fume.

  • Latex modified concrete (LMC) has grown to be accepted as a standard material of construction overlaying bridge decks in America due to its superior physical and chemical properties. The properties of latex, combined with the low water-cement ratio, produce a concrete that has improved flexural, tensile, and bond strength, lower modulus of elasticity, increased freeze-thaw resistance, and reduced permeability compared to conventional concrete of similar mix design. LMC overlays have been service in excellence for 30 years on thousands of bridge in U.S.A. This may, also, prolong the life cycle of bridge deck once it is adopted in Korea. The self-contained, mobile, continuous mixer is most appropriate particularly for concrete quality assurance. Assuring quality on a bridge deck overlay project should begin in the design phase and continue after the construction is completed. Quality should be the concern of everyone involved-owner, designer, and contractor.

  • If microorganisms are injected into porous medium such as soils along with appropriate substrate and nutrients, soil pore size and shape are changed from the initial condition as a result of biofilm formation, which make hydraulic conductivity reduced. In this research, hydraulic conductivity reduction was measured after specific bacterium or fungus was inoculated into soil pore. Hydraulic conductivity was decreased to 10 % ∼ 1 % and maintained constant while substrate was provided. Under the adverse conditions such as no substrate, chemical solution permeation, and freeze-thaw cycles, hydraulic conductivity was increased 30∼50%. Hydraulic conductivity decrease of fungus-soil mixture was faster than that of bacterium-soil mixture. Fungus-soil mixture, however, was more sensitive to the adverse conditions.

  • The polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel containing 1-methy-2-pymolidinone (MP) and sorbitol was preapred by the freeze and thaw method. The release rate of indomethacin from PVA hydrogel was used as a criterion for deciding the optimum formula of hydrogel using the computer optimization technique. The hydrogel of optimum formula was composed of PVA (10 w/v%), MP (0 w/v%) and sorbitol (40 w/v%) and the release rate of indomethacin was 1.981$\mu$g/ml$\cdot{min}^{1/2}$.

  • In this paper, the properties of inter-locking block using fly ash are investigated. The experimental parameters are the replacement ratio of fly ash, the amount of AE water-reducing agent and mixing porpotion of mortar. According to the experimental results, the improvement of quality in the side of strength, absorption ratio and freeze-thaw resistance for manufacturing inter-locking block and the curtailment of cost can be achieved in case of 15% of fly ash and 0.3% of AE water-reducing agent are mixed into mortar mixture of 1:6(C:S).

GFRP 리바의 내구성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Durability of Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastics Rebars)

  • The mechanical properties of glass fiber reinforced polymer reinforcing bars(rebar) in various environment conditions such as moisture, chloride, alkali and freeze-thaw actions at temperature ranging from room temperature($25^{\circ}C$) to high temperature of up to $80^{\circ}C$ have been studied. The test results indicated that tensile strength and interfacial shear strength of GFRP bar were decreased with the increasing of temperature and holding time of each environment condition. The degradation in alkali environment. was more serious than those in the other environments.

  • 본 연구에서는 잠열온도 조절에 관한 이론과 상변화 잠열재의 결정핵형성이론 그리고 PCM 결정화 모델을 정립하고, 농산물 저온 저장에 이용할 수 있는 냉축열 잠열재로 $H_2O$를 선정하여 NaCl을 온도 조절제로 잠열온도를 조절하였으며, 상변화 사이클에 의한 열특성 변화 추이와 물성의 안정성을 실험적으로 분석하였다.

  • An entrained air is important in improving freeze/thaw resistance to the concrete structures. To achieve a proper degree of air entrainment, air entraining admixtures(AEA) are typically added to the concrete mixture, but it has been noted that an increase in the carbon content(LOI) of fly ash causes problems in proper air entrainment in concrete. In this study, the entrained air content of mortar with fly ash as an additive was considered according to the mix design as a type of AEA, adding amount of fly ash and AEA, and the elapsed time. Moreover, two different types of measurement were also tired for air content.
