Antibody-detection enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was performed to determine whether the absorbance value of ELISA is influenced by the different serum storage conditions of olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus. Flounder antiserum to bovine serum albumin was stored at -80, -20, 4 and 20${^{\circ}C}$ for 1, 30, 69 and 124 days, respectively. In addition, the flounder antisera were frozen at -80 and -20${^{\circ}C}$, respectively and then repeated 1, 5 and 10 thaw-freeze cycles. No significant difference was shown in ELISA optical density (O.D.) values of sera, which were stored at the above mentioned storage conditions during 124 days. ELISA O.D. values of unfrozen serum samples, which were previously stored at 4${^{\circ}C}$, were almost similar to those of sera undergoing 1, 5, and 10 freeze-thaw cycles after stored at -80 or -20${^{\circ}C}$. In conclusion, the ELISA O.D. values of flounder sera were not affected by various storage conditions: different temperatures (-80, -20, 4 and 20${^{\circ}C}$), durations of storage (1, 30, 69 and 124 days), and repeated thaw-freeze cycles (1, 5, and 10 times).
The purpose of this study is to utilize recycled concrete aggregates as permeable pavement materials. This study evaluates mechanical properties and durability of porous concrete depending on mixing rates of recycled aggregates and polyme. As a result, void ratio and permeability coefficient of porous concrete for pavement increased a little as mixing rate of recycled aggregates increased. Void ratio and permeability coefficient increased a lot as mixing rate of polymer increased. As polymer was mixed $20\%$, national regulation of permeable concrete for pavement($8\%$ and 0.01cm/sec) was met. Compressive strength and flexural strength decreased as mixing rate of recycled aggregates increased but they increased a lot as mixing rate of polymer increased. Even when recycled aggregates were mixed $75\%\;with\;10\%$ polymer mixed, national regulation of pavement concrete(18MPa and 4.5MPa) was met. In addition, regarding sliding resistance, BPN increased as mixing rate of recycled aggregates increased. But BPN decreased as polymer was mixed. Compared to crushed stone aggregates, abrasion resistance and freeze-thaw resistance decreased as mixing rate of recycled aggregates Increased. When polymer was mixed, abrasion resistance and freeze-thaw resistance improved remarkably. Compared to non-mixture, $10\%$ mixture of polymer improved abrasion resistance and freeze-thaw resistance about $8.6\%$ and 3.8times respectively.

Leakage due to deterioration and damage is one of the major causes of volume change by freezing and thawing, and it leads micro-cracking and surface scaling in concrete structures. The deterioration of damaged concrete accelerates with the chloride attack. Thus, in the detailed guidelines for facility performance evaluation (2020), the quality of cover concrete and the freeze-thaw (FT) repetition cycle were newly suggested for concrete durability assessment. The quality of cover concrete should be evaluated by the rebound hammer test and the FT repetition cycle should be also considered in the deterioration environmental assessment. This study suggested the application of fast dynamic based nonlinear ultrasound method to monitor initial micro-scale damage under freezing and thawing environment. Concrete specimens were fabricated with different water-cement ratios (40%, 60%) and air contents (1.5% and 3.0%). The compressive strength, rebound number, relative dynamic modulus, and nonlinear ultrasound were measured with different FT cycles. The scanning electron microscopy was also performed to investigate the micro-scale FT damage. As a result, both the rebound number and the relative dynamic modulus had difficulty to detect early damage but the proposed method showed a potential to detect initial micro-scale damage and predict the FT resistance performance of concrete.
Changes in rock properties due to freezing and thawing cycles ranging from $-20^{\circ}C$ to $10^{\circ}C$ were checked for the typical Korean rocks: granite (weathered), limestone, sandstone, tuff, shale and basalt. The porosity, seismic velocity, shore hardness and specific gravity were measured every 10 cycles for each type of rock up to 40 cycles. The specific gravity was rarely changed. Granite (w), shale and basalt decreased gradually in their shore hardness and seismic velocity values, these values for limestone, sandstone and tuff changed only a very little. The porosity increased in the granite (w), shale and basalt, whereas in the others it did not change. Due to the low tensile strength with high porosity, granite (w), shale and basalt were susceptible to the F-T cycles. A linear regression equation was calculated based on the experiment results according to properties and types of rock. The relationship between the freeze-thaw sensitivity (=initial porosity/initial tensile strength) and the coefficients of the regression equation was examined. With additional experimental data, the coefficients of the regression equation can be estimated using the F-T sensitivity. This makes it possible to predict the properties of rock as affected by freeze-thaw weathering by only measuring the initial properties without knowledge of the regression equation coefficients for each type of rock.

Sedimentary rocks from construction waste are discarded through open storage and landfilling, which causes an increase in construction cost and inefficient of execution of works. Some sandstone are selected and utilized as aggregates, but shale is buried as industrial waste. Therefore, in this research, we evaluated weathering properties of shale aggregate that is widely distributed throughout Daegu-Kyeongbuk region and freeze-thaw characteristics of concrete according to the replacement ratio of shale aggregate, in an effort to stabilize aggregate supply-demand in Daegu-Kyeongbuk region and develop alternative aggregates. We used red shale and black shale in the experiment, which were exported from a construction site in Deagu. We verified the usage of shale as a concrete aggregate by comparing andesite, which is broadly used as a thick aggregate for concrete, to hornfels, which is a metamorphic sedimentary rock. As a result of the experiment, we observed no degradation phenomenon for andesite and hornfels. However, a part of country rock containing black shale was found to be exfoliated. Red shale started having cracks in the direction of stratification after 1.5 months of direct exposure, and it broke into smaller pieces after approximately 4 months. After 300 cycles of freeze-thaw process on the concrete manufactured according to the replacement ratio of shale aggregate, the modulus of elasticity was 97% for plain and 95% for hornfels. In the case of RS_100, it was 57% after 210 cycles, and for BS_100, it was 54% after 240 cycles. Therefore, we established that, as the number of repetition increases, the freeze-thaw resistance decreases dramatically.

This study examined the fluidity and strength properties, water resistance, durability, and freeze-thaw of cementless loess mortar using an eco-friendly hardening agent. The experimental result indicates that 28 days compressive and flexural strength of the loess mortar was increased regardless of the weathered granite soil and loess mixture ratio as the replacement ratio of the hardening agent increases. The strengths were significantly increased until 14 days regardless of the hardening agent, while the effect on the strengths increasement was relatively low after 14 days. Thus, the strength development of loess mortar concrete was found to be faster than that of the normal concrete. In addition, when the hardening agent of 10% was used, the average flexural strength was 1.7MPa which is insufficient compared to the 28-day flexural strength of 4.5MPa for the paving concrete. However, the flexural strengths of the loess mortar concrete using the hardening agents of 20% and 30% were 4.0MPa and 5.3MPa, respectively. Thus, the hardening agent need to be at least 20% so that the loess mortar can be used for paving concrete. The experiment for water resistance shows that the repeated absorption and dry reduced mass regardless of the mixing ratio of the loess. The maximum length change also decreased with increasing the substitution rate loess mixture ratio and the hardening agent. The result of the freeze-thaw resistance test indicates that the relative dynamic modulus of elasticity at 300 cycle freeze-thaw with the hardening agents of 20% and 30% were 75% and 79%, relatively. Thus, the hardening agent of at least 20% is required to obtain the relative dynamic modulus of elasticity of 60% for the loess mortar.

The present study assessed the micro structure and durability characteristics of ternary blended cement with different types of alkali activators. Ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBS) and ferronickel slag(FNS) was replaced until 50 % of the weight of cement. In addition, potassuim hydroxide and sodium hydroxide were used for comparing the properties of different type of alkali activator. Ternary blended cement with alkali activators showed higher peak portlandite peak than that of OPC(Ordinary Portlande Cement) and non activated ternary blended cement. Also, there was no new hydration products in ternary blended cement or/and alkali activators. Based on the mercury intrustion porosimetry(MIP) test result, ternary blended cement increased macro pore while alkali activated ternary blended cement modified pore structure and increased microp pore as compared to OPC as control. Combination with alkali activators is desirable to enhance the compressive strength and freeze thaw resistance.
Milk protein-gum conjugates were prepared by Maillard reaction and added to dough to investigate the possibile use of them as anti-staling agents in bread Four different types of conjugates were added to dough, i.e., $casein-\kappa-carrageenan$ (CK), casein-sodium alginate (CA), $whey-\kappa-carrgeenan$(WK) and whey-sodium alginate (WA). Their addition to flour increased the gelatinization temperature, water absorption and development time of the dough. Extensogram showed the increased resistance to extension of the doughs resulting from the addition of the conjugates. Moisture content of the breads decreased during storage at $5^{\circ}C$ for 4 days. The breads added with conjugates had lower extents of the decreases than non-treated degrees and maintained higher moisture content than non-treated bread after 3 freeze-thaw cycles. The storage degrees at $5^{\circ}C$ for 4 days affected the increased bread hardness, but, addition of WA conjugate decreased extents of the increases. Therefore, milk protein-gum conjugates, especially WA conjugate, contributed to retarding staling of breads
This study investigates the fresh state characteristics, strength, chloride ion penetration resistance and freeze-thaw resistance of the suggested high strength-high durability cement concrete pavement. The required workability and air content could be achieved by using an appropriate admixtures. However its dosage should be carefully determined through field trial batches. Compressive strength increased with the increased cement content and, in particular, high cement volume concrete continuously developed strength up to 90 days. No clear relationship, however, existed between flexural strength and cement content. Chloride penetration resistance seemed as a function of curing age rather than the cement content. Freeze-thaw resistance test was conducted using two different coolants, tap water and 4% NaCl solution. When the tap water was used no severe damage was observed up to 300 cycles regardless the air content. Under 4% NaCl solution, specimens of 326kg/$m^3$ cement content showed severe damage with surface scaling. Based on the experimental investigations herein, it is highly recommended that the cement content be greater than 400kg/$m^3$ for strength-high durability cement concrete pavement structures.

Recently, much attention has focused on the study of eco-friendly concrete using recycled by-products for protecting marine ecosystem and durability of concrete exposed to marine condition. This study evaluated the durabilities of 4 different type of concrete mixtures(Control, Marine, Porous, New slag) with the seawater resistance by marine environment exposure experiment and freeze-thaw resistance, resistance to chloride ion penetration considering severe deterioration environment. In this study, we conducted seawater resistance using compressive strength according to the age(7/28/56 days) of specimen and curing conditions(standard(fresh water), tidal, immersion, artificial seawater). The results show that compressive strength of concrete exposed to marine environment exposure condition was lower than those of the standard curing condition. Also, compressive strength of New slag using eco-friendly materials for protecting marine ecosystem was lower than those of other concretes, there is need to improve the performance of New slag. The results for freeze-thaw resistance showed that all mixtures have excellent, but the Porous and New slag were lower than others. Also, the more improved resistance to chloride ion penetration than those of the Marine was measured in the New slag regardless of curing condition.
