Functionally Graded Piezoelectric Strip with Eccentric Crack Under Anti-plane Shear

  • In this paper, we examine the singular stresses and electric fields in a functionally graded piezoelectric ceramic strip containing an eccentric crack off the center line under anti-plane shear loading with the theory of linear piezoelectricity. It is assumed that the properties of the functionally graded piezoelectric ceramic strip vary continuously along the thickness. Fourier transforms are used to reduce the problem to the solution of two pairs of dual integral equations, which are then expressed to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Numerical values on the stress intensity factor and the energy release rate are obtained.

  • In this paper, we examine the dynamic electromechanical behavior of an edge crack in a piezoelectric ceramic layer bonded between two elastic layers under the combined anti-plane mechanical shear and in-plane electric transient loadings. We adopted both the permeable and impermeable crack boundary conditions. Fourier transforms are used to reduce the problem to the solution of two pairs of dual integral equations, which are then expressed to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Numerical values on the dynamic energy release rate are presented to show the dependences upon the geometry, material combination, electromechanical coupling coefficient and electric field.

  • An adhesively bonded anisotropic structure containing a part-through crack subjected to in-plane mixed mode deformations is investigated. The problem is reduced to a pair of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind by mathematical analysis. By solving these equations numerically stress intensity factors k$_{1}$ and k$_{2}$ are presented. Two cases are considered with respect to fiber orientations. Case one is to fix the fiber orientations of sound plate bonded to cracked plate with various fiber orientations. The other is to vary fiber orientations for both plates. As boundary conditions, tension and shear loading respectively, are applied to bonded anisotropic plates to observe mixed mode deformations.

  • The dynamic response of a cracked functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) under transient anti-plane shear mechanical and in-plane electrical loads is investigated in the present paper. It is assumed that the electroelastic material properties of the FGPM vary smoothly in the form of an exponential function along the thickness of the strip. The analysis is conducted on the basis of the unified (or natural) crack boundary condition which is related to the ellipsoidal crack parameters. By using the Laplace and Fourier transforms, the problem is reduced to the solutions of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. Numerical results for the stress intensity factor and crack sliding displacement are presented to show the influences of the elliptic crack parameters, the electric field, FGPM gradation, crack length, and electromechanical coupling coefficient.

  • 본 논문에서는 적분변환법을 이용하여 면외전단 충격하중이 작용하는 두 개의 서로 다른 압전재료층 사이의 기능경사압전재료 접합층 내부 균열에 대한 과도응답 해석 을 수행한다. 기능경사압전재료의 물성치는 두께 방향을 따라 연속적으로 변하는 것으로 가정한다. 라플라스 변환과 푸리에 변환을 이용하여 문제를 복합적분방정식으로 구성하고, 수치해석을 위해 복합적 분방정식을 제 2 종 프레드홀름 적분방정식으로 표현한다. 전기적 하중, 재료물성 치의 변화율, 각 접합층의 두께가 균열의 과도응답에 미치는 영향을 보기 위해 동에너지 해방률에 대한 수치해석 결과를 제시한다.
