Woodcraft activity is inseparable with our ordinary life and its relevant research should be consistently maintained because it has significant educational value to blossoming students. These days, which interest in woodcraft is rapidly expanding from early childhood to old age, this study was done to provide images to those who work in this field or who have interest. Out of the 43 jewelry and gift boxes used in this study, species of white which has low proportion of packing materials consists of species of Fir (Abies spp), Birch (Betula spp) and Amercia basswood (Tilia americana Linnaeus) and the higher proportion species of Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), Bayor (Pteorospermum diversifolium Bl), Snakewood (Piratinera guianensis aubl.) and Bintangor (Calophhyllum spp.) were used in valuable products. It was showed that out of 56 works selected from '400 Wood Boxes', the species of Walnut (Juglans regia), Cherry (Prunus serotina), Wenge (Milletia laurentii De. wild), Ebony (Diospyros spp.), Ash (Fraxinus spp.) and Cocobolo (Dallbergia cultrata Grah.) were frequently used.
Five measurements of species diversity (richness index, diversity index, evenness index, dominance index and species sequences-importance curve) and their relationships with sltitude, tree age and community type were studied in $T\v{o}gyusan$ National Park, Korea. Altitude and tree age were the major variables explaining the differences of species diversity in the whole forest. Species richness index, diversity index and evenness index of Quercus mongolica and Pinus densiflora communities were lower than those of Carpinus laxiflora, Q. serrata, Fraxinus mandshurica, Q. mongolica - P. densiflora communities than that in the other communities. The species sequence-importance curve of the forest communities in $T\v{o}gyusan$ coincided with the ideal curve calculated by the lognormal-distribution theory.
Morphological characteristics and taxohomy of the two most important Tarsonemid mutes in agriculture, cyclamen mite (Phytonemus pallidus (Banks), 1899) and Broad mite (Polyphagotarsonemus lalus Banks, 1904) are described and drawings of ventral and dorsal views of females and males of each species are provided. Cyclamen mite was collected from fatsia japonica, and Broad mite was collected from Capcicum annuum, Rhododennon schlippenbachil, impatrens sulianti, Ilex serrata, and Fraxinus rhynchophylla.
A pollen analytical study was carried out on the accumulated humus samples collected from 27 sites under the different plant communities of Mt. Seolag. These pollen spectra were then compared with the actual vegetation. The aboreal pollen(AP) and non-abnoreal pollen(NAP) were 1 Family 25 Genus and 5 Family 5 Genus, respectively. Among the aboreal pollen identified, the pollen of Pinus, Quercus, Betula and Acer were appeared in abundance and the coniferous pollen of Pinus was occupied at least 20%-65% through all the sites studied. The pollens of Abies, Betula, accer, Quercus, Carpinus, Corylus, Fraxinus, Styrax, Prunus and Ericaceae were in accordance with the present vegetation but the other pollens were inconsistent with the actual vegetaton. It suggests that it was caused by the difference between Wehseolag and Namseolag of subalpine zone in Mt. Seolag was 200 m by pollen spectra. Quercus was distributed at the lower part of Namseolag and the subalpine boreal elements were increased with increasing altitudes. The pollen spectra of each site was put together into 5 groups of pollen assemblage by cluster analysis and the community coefficient (CC) was over 60% between all sites studied.
A study on the dominance-diversity of forest vegetation in Mt. Seolag was conducted from May 1981 to Aug. 1983. Based on the field data, the dominance-diversity curves were for 16 sites including slopes and vallies. The curves are grouped in two types, lognormal distribution at the sites of mature vegetation and geometric series at the disturbed or rocky sites. It seems that the curves express the nature of their ecocline, by the hypotheses of some investigators, i.e. Random Niche hypothesis, Niche Pre-emption hypothesis, Lognormal distribution and Logarithmic series. The dominance concentration among the southern, northern and western slope, H'=1.282 at southern slope and H'=1.385 at western slope. Dominance-diversity curves of 16 sites showed Preston's lognormal distribution with small variations among them. It seems that the dominance diversity reflects the differences in the coenocline of their sites. The top 10 dominant species in species sequence of 113 tree species in whole the mountain, were noticed: Quercus mongolica, Pinus densiflora, Acer pseudo-siebold anum, Quercus serrata, Carpinus laxiflora, Styrax obassia, Fraxinus rhynchophylla, Tilia amurensis, Lindera obtusiloba and Abies holophylla in order.
To investigate the structure of the plant community structure of Mt. Yongmun in Kyonggi-do, fifty-four plots were set up by the clumped sampling method. The classification by TWINSPAN and DCA ordination were applied to the study area in order to classify them into several groups based on woody plant and environmental variables. By both techniques, the plant community were divided into two groups by the aspect. the dominant species of south aspect were Pinus densiflora, Quercus aliena, Q. mongolica, Carpinus laxiflora and of north aspect were Q. ongolica, Fraxinus rhynchophylla. The successional trends of tree species in south aspect seem to be from P. densiflora through Q. serrata, Q. aliena, A. mongolica to C. laxiflora. As a result of the analysis for the relationship between the stand scores of DCA and environmental variables, they had a tendency to increase significantly from the P. densiflora and Q. mongolica community to C. laxiflora and F. rhynchophylla community that was the soil moisture, the amount of soil humus and soil pH.
A census of the forest vegetation of Mt. Kaya National Park was taken with respect to the medthods of ordination and classification. Eight groups were classified by cluster analysis : Quercus mongolica, Q. mongolica-Sasa borealis, Q. serrata, Q. variabilis, Carpinus laxiflora, Cornus controversa, Fraxinus mandshurica and Pinus densiflora. Among them, the Q. mongolica group and Q. mongolica-S. borealis group, the F. mandshurica group and C. controversa group showed similar floristic compositions to each other. The interrelationship between the floristic compositon of the vegetation and soil environment was analyzed by PCA, the Q. mongolica group and the Q. mongolica-S. borealis group were distributed in areas of high CEC and total nitrogen content, while the Q. serrata. Q. variabilis. C. laxiflora and Pinus densiflora groups formed their communities in the more moderate areas of pH, soil moisture and soil organic matter. F. mandshurica and C. controversa groups were distributed in the areas of high soil moisture, soil organic matter, pH and available phosphate.
