  • This paper proposes a robust digital video stabilization algorithm to extract and track an object, which uses a phase correlation-based motion correction. The proposed video stabilization algorithm consists of background stabilization based on motion estimation and extraction of a moving object. The motion vectors can be estimated by calculating the phase correlation of a series of frames in the eight sub-images, which are located in the corner of the video. The global motion vector can be estimated and the image can be compensated by using the multiple local motions of sub-images. Through the calculations of the phase correlation, the motion of the background can be subtracted from the former frame and the compensated frame, which share the same background. The moving objects in the video can also be extracted. In this paper, calculating the phase correlation to track the robust motion vectors results in the compensation of vibrations, such as movement, rotation, expansion and the downsize of videos from all directions of the sub-images. Experimental results show that the proposed digital image stabilization algorithm can provide continuously stabilized videos and tracking object movements.

  • In this paper, a ship calculation program is developed, which prof[nuts hydrostatics and volume calculation intact and damage stability and hull variation. Hull form and compartment geometry are expressed with NURBS curve wire-frame model. Hydrostatics and volume calculation are performed directly with the intersection method between section geometry and 3D planar surface. Equilibrium ship position is calculated with hydrostatic equilibrium equation which is linearized by 1st order Taylor series expansion sequentially. The developed program shows more accurate results and easy uses than the latter.

  • It is common to use PC or Digital picture frame in stand-alone fashion to view images, movies, or to listen MP3 musics which are considered as multimedia contents, However, such existing methods have weakness for expanding network requirements or augmenting extra data, in such case inevitably requiring external devices. With keeping in mind for such expansion, in this study, we have suggested a new concepts of network module which may utilize an image server for data transmission, in the proposed module, data alarm packet was defined for alerting incoming data from the image server and it became possible to synchronize between the image server and device not only in wired but also in wireless environments through UART. The method consists of a control module for an image server and a synchronization module between the server and the device. We have also tested the feasibility for future commercial usages such as advertisements through performance evaluations.

  • This article's purpose is to overcome the inadequacy of deliberative democracy for communication on the basis of Haewonsangsaeng. The inadequacy of deliberative democracy for communication is presented as the following two. First, as deliberative democracy treats civic virtue as instrumental thing, deliberative democracy is still in moral solipsism. Second, as deliberative democracy doesn't consider 'the inequality of power' among diverse political positions, the project of deliberative democracy for communication ends up in the exposure of the inequality of power among diverse political positions. Sangsaeng in Haewonsangsaeng concerned with inter-relationship over individualism treats civic virtue as original motility. In this context, Sangsaeng in Haewonsangsaeng is the alternative notion to overcome the first inadequacy of deliberative democracy for communication. Haewon in Haewonsangsaengas is the condition for Sangsaeng. and Haewon's method is to exclude or to eliminate the structural frame of Sanggeuk meaning mutual conflict and antagonism. This article presents two structural frame of Sanggeuk. First, First structural obstacle as internal obstacle is suggested through analyzing pluralism on the basis of existential philosophy. The result of the analysis is the 'antagonism' between the hegemonical value and the peripheral value. Second structural obstacle as external obstacle is the extinction of public sphere caused by the growth of market and the expansion of bureaucracy.

  • The feasibility of wave energy extraction from a heaving truncated cylinder and the corresponding response of the linear electric generator (LEG) composed of spring, magnet, and coil has been investigated in the frame of three-dimensional linear potential theory. The heaving motion of a circular cylinder is calculated by means of the matched eigenfunction expansion method. Further, the analytical results are validated by numerical results using the ANSYS AQWA commercial code. By the action of a heaving circular cylinder, the magnet suspended by a spring can slide vertically inside the heaving cylinder. The mechanical power is extracted from the magnet motion relative to the coil/stator which is attached to the cylinder. The coupled ODE of a heaving cylinder and LEG system in waves is derived to obtain the magnet motion relative to a cylinder. To maximize the relative motion of the magnet, both the buoy draft and the LEG system parameters (spring stiffness, damping) should be selected properly for generating the double resonance considering the peak frequency of the target spectrum.

  • This study examines the process of urban formation in the city of Yanji. The analysis is done by the change of street pattern and major facility location in a timely manner by appling space syntax method. This research categorizes the pattern of the urban growth focused on two urban forms, street and major buildings, in the city and is offered of the meaning of the first value on interpretation of the urban growth in the city of Yanji. The result of the research are as follows. First, the period of the city transformation is divided into four stage; intuitive period, grid-iron formative period, consolidation period, and urban expansion period. Second, characteristics of each stage have been analyzed. At the first stage, the city started to frame along both buildings and streets which were placed without a plan. At the second stage, the city was planned and constructed into new grid-iron pattern ignoring existing context by Jananese colony. At the consolidation period, the road system expands from the city center toward suburban. At the last expansion period, the shape of the city has complicated its shape with complex road system. This study contributes to provide a basic analysis and data to investigate how the Yanji city has evolved over period of time. But further continuous research should be done for future urban development of the Yanji city.

  • The paper presents a basic study on reliability evaluation using METRIS for long term expansion planning of transmission system. The main frame of methodelogy of the reliability evaluation of a transmission system in the METRIS is based on evaluation philosophy that the reliability level of a transmission system is equal to difference between the reliability level of HLII and that of HLI. While basic general theory of probabilistic reliability evaluation of transmission system has been presented, the GUI characteristics of input/out data system of METRIS have been demonstrated by the RBTS case study on METRIS.

  • When a lot of input data are not distributed uniformly n a chord-span direction or when the given shape is complicated, it is very difficult to obtain an inverse matrix which represents the smooth Bi-cubic B-spline surface of the initial shape. To overcome this problem, we suggest image Surface Expansion Method(ISE Method) which is suggested for vertex creation of B-spline curves and surfaces. Its basic concept, convergency and verification are shown. Also B-spline curves and Surfaces represented by ISE Method were compared with those represented by the existing method which is based on the inverse matrix method, the pseudoinverse matrix method and the chord length approximation method for vertex yielding. Ship Hull Forms which have Knuckle, Bulbous Bow, Transom and Stern frame were represented by the ISE Method.

  • This study is aimed at investigating the dynamic performance of a composite building structure under seismic ground motions. The building structure is an official fire department building located in southern Taiwan. It is composed of a seven-story reinforced concrete (RC) and an eight-story steel reinforced concrete (SRC) frame. Both frames share a common basement and are separated by expansion joints from the first to the seventh floor. Recorded floor accelerations of the building structure under eight earthquakes occurring during the period from 2011 to 2013 were examined in this paper. It is found that both frames had similar floor acceleration amplifications in the longitudinal direction, while the SRC frame revealed larger response than the RC frame in the transverse direction. Almost invariant and similar fundamental periods under the eight earthquakes in both directions were obtained from their transfer functions. Furthermore, numerical time-history simulations were carried out for the building structure under the most intensive earthquake. It is realized that the seismic response of the composite building was dominated by the first translational mode in each horizontal direction. Higher modes did not significantly contribute to the structural response. The conventional Rayleigh damping model could be appropriately applied to the time-history simulations under bi-directional excitations. Approximate floor acceleration envelopes were obtained with a compound RC and SRC structural model by using the average damping ratios determined from the different structural arrays.

  • One of the most important issues in structural systems is evaluation of the margin of safety in low and mid-rise buildings against the progressive collapse mechanism due to the earthquake loads. In this paper, modeling of collapse propagation in structural elements of RC frame buildings is evaluated by tracing down the collapse points in beam and column structural elements, one after another, under earthquake loads and the influence of column removal is investigated on how the collapse expansion in beam and column structural members. For this reason, progressive collapse phenomenon is studied in 3-story and 5-story intermediate moment resisting frame buildings due to the corner and edge column removal in presence of the earthquake loads. In this way, distribution and propagation of the collapse in progressive collapse mechanism is studied, from the first element of the structure to the collapse of a large part of the building with investigating and comparing the results of nonlinear time history analyses (NLTHA) in presence of two-component accelograms proposed by FEMA_P695. Evaluation of the results, including the statistical survey of the number and sequence of the collapsed points in process of the collapse distribution in structural system, show that the progressive collapse distribution are special and similar in low-rise and mid-rise RC buildings due to the simultaneous effects of the column removal and the earthquake loads and various patterns of the progressive collapse distribution are proposed and presented to predict the collapse propagation in structural elements of similar buildings. So, the results of collapse distribution patterns and comparing the values of collapse can be utilized to provide practical methods in codes and guidelines to enhance the structural resistance against the progressive collapse mechanism and eventually, the value of damage can be controlled and minimized in similar buildings.
