The current slope stability analysis of a filldam is based on the limit equilibrium method, and in calculation of safety factor during earthquake, adopts the seismic intensity method in which it considers a uniform seismic force from dam foundation to crest. However the observed behaviour of filldam during earthquake shows some different behaviour in that at the crest the measured acceleration is usually several times the ground acceleration. In this study, slope stability calculations of a filldam are provided based on the modified seismic intensity method, which can take into account the amplification phenomena of acceleration in the upper part of dam. And also the results of calculations are compared with that of current seismic intensity method.

Dan-chung had many great traditional patterns of Korea. By investigating its patterns, which comprise the integral part of the formative features, and analyzing the aesthetic characteristics and formative beauty, the foundation was set to use the patterns as the motives of art makeup works. A focus was made on the basic elements, compositions and symbolic meanings of Dan-chung patterns. The representative patterns that were used a lot in Dan-chung made the motives of the four art make-up designs, which tried to integrate the aesthetic senses of the Dan-chung patterns into the art makeup venues. The four patterns were each based on the phoenix, bat, ghost face, and crane. The major colors used were white, black, red, blue and yellow, which were also the cardinal Five Colors of Dan-chung. They were changed in terms of luminosity and coma and manipulated to make harmony with intermediate colors so that the designs would ooze out the Korean aesthetic senses.

Whole number concept is an important part of mathematics learning. Elementary school students should understand and master whole number concept. Models can help students learn whole number concepts. Realistic Mathematics Education in Netherlands had investigated and developed three different structural models: line model, group model, combination model. These models are related whole number concepts and structures closely and compatible. The purpose of this study is to investigate models related with whole numbers in 7th elementary textbooks. As a result of analyses, we found out some pattern and several problems. On the foundation of the analyses, we discussed the better ways of using models in teaching whole number and the research issues concerning these.

This paper presents a simple model for studying the dynamic response of multi-span bridges resting on piers with different heights and subjected to earthquake forces acting transversely to the bridge, but varying spatially along its length. The analysis is carried out using the modal superposition technique, while the solution of the resulting integral-differential equations is obtained via the Laplace transformation. It has been found that the piers' height and the quality of the foundation soil can affect significantly the dynamic behavior of such bridges. Typical examples showing the effectiveness of the method are presented with useful results listed.

The purpose of this study was to develop a scheme to standardize apartment management expenses levy. I have conducted theoretical research on the literature for the foundation of this study. I have also surveyed many different kinds of levies with help from several apartment complex managers in Busan as well as the executive secretaries of Busan Citizen's Coalition for Economic Justice. I held 30 meetings with the experts in this process to discuss the standardization of the levy. The finalized scheme for standardization is in line with the Act for Management of Multiple Family Housing. Because description of the whole standardized scheme is too lengthy for one article, I decided to present it in three parts. This article is the first part of the series. The remaining two parts will be published in future issues.

The accelerated testing technique using the equivalent load condition plays an important part in development process. However, in the industrial field, the theoretical background and advantages of this accelerated testing technique have been lack of understanding. Because the environmental durability condition forms the foundation of the accelerated testing technique, it is important to analyze the loading components and damage in service environment. In this work, we present the theoretical background and process for accelerated testing, and introduce our accelerated equivalent load analysis program. We developed the GUI program, and the user can easily obtain the result by selecting the program module.

After coming this century, as the propagative method of plants on a scientific foundation has been accompanied systematically, it has played an important part in the improvement of cultivar. But an existing propagative technique is not a few defects in our tasks and industrial structure which changes every hour and envirnment which undergoes a sudden change. To use developed biological knowledge recently, and existing propagative method which is main axis in sexual reproductive crossing, is increased much in the inside of internal organs by asexual reproductive means which is on a different level, and by, introducing a new character, it improves an inherited character etc. We have observed methods which supplement or replace a defect. These methods are not yet ripe for putting to practical use in the present research phase but convinced that they will offer an epoch-marking turning point.

In this paper, we designed and implemented a web-based grid scheduling platform(WGridSP), which can model a system and simulate scheduling scheme in grid computing. WGridSP used GridSim, a grid scheduling toolkit in java-environment, as a tool for simulation and is able to Perform resource modeling, task modeling, algorithm compiling, simulation, and Performance evaluation rapidly in web environment. WGridSP can be applied as a foundation for grid research and can be used to analyze the efficiency of scheduling algorithm.
