  • Three types of infant food were experimentally prepared based on the average caloric requirement for, Koreans : Formula A, with 1/3 RDA for 4-6 month, formula B, with 1/2 RDA for 7-9 month, and formula C, with 2/3 RDA for 10-12 month old infants. Into each formula was added approximately 50% of rice. Analysis of the nutritive values on these formula showed no deviance Com the expected values in case of general nutrients while the percent of essential amino acids in protein was muck higher except methionine. Since iron content was found to be below the half of except values, a sufficient amount of iron as required in RDA should be additionally supplied, for example, in iron drops. The infant preference test on each formula showed much favorable acceptability : 50% of them responded as moderate, 33.3% as favorable, 12.5% as disliking, and 4.2% as disgusting. The test also showed no noticeable change in both feces and appetite.

  • Our goal is to construct a two-frequency-dependent formula $I_N$ which interpolates a product f of two functions with different frequencies at some N points. In the beginning, it is not clear to us that the formula $I_N$ satisfies $I_N=f$ at the points. However, it is later shown that $I_N$ satisfies the above equation. For this theoretical development, a one-frequency-dependent formula is introduced, and some of its characteristics are explained. Finally, our newly constructed formula $I_N$ is compared to the classical Lagrange interpolating polynomial and the one-frequency-dependent formula in order to show the advantage that is obtained by generating the formula depending on two frequencies.

  • This study expanded Terzaghi arching formula, which assumed a vertical surface as a sliding surface, to consider an arbitrarily inclined surface as a sliding surface and examined the effect of a sliding surface. This study firstly developed a formula to expand the existing Terzaghi arching formula to consider an inclined surface as well as a vertical surface as a sliding surface under the downward movement of a trap door. Using the expanded formula, the effect of excavation, ground, and surcharge conditions on a vertical stress was examined and the results were compared with them from Terzaghi arching formula. The comparison indicated that the induced vertical stress was highly affected by the angle of an inclined sliding surface and the degree of influence depended on the excavation, ground, and surcharge conditions. It is expected that the results from this study would provide a better understanding of various arching phenomenon in the future.

  • There are two well known reduction formulae for structural constants of the cohomology ring of Grassmannians, i.e., Littlewood-Richardson coefficients. Two reduction formulae are a conjugate pair in the sense that indexing partitions of one formula are conjugate to those of the other formula. A nice bijective proof of the first reduction formula is given in the authors' previous paper while a (combinatorial) proof for the second reduction formula in the paper depends on the identity between Littlewood-Richardson coefficients of conjugate shape. In this article, a direct bijective proof for the second reduction formula for Littlewood-Richardson coefficients is given. Our proof is independent of any previously known results (or bijections) on tableaux theory and supplements the arguments on bijective proofs of reduction formulae in the authors' previous paper.

  • The calculation of the comsumptive use by crop can be most accurate when it is actually measured. The mankind is not yet able tole grasp all the natural conditions or phenomena. The induces of actual measurement at a representive observatory and the formula abtained from the area werowere made as close as possible, which is called as the Blaney Criddle formcula, published in 1945. In calculating the water require-ment of consumptive use of water by farm crops, a more accurate and reasonable formula should be induced as the factors other than temperature and day-time hours according to the location of project area have also influences. The formula of Mr. Jerald E. Christianen published in 1969 is based on the induces of the records of actural measurements for 3, 928 months at 80 different stations and his formula couers a wider range of functions that calculate water requirement to induce the functions of moisture, wind, velocity, sunshine at elevatons, in addition to temperature and daytime hours in accordance with latitude and was modified to be fit to natural phenomena. The formula is being widely in use in many contries with their modification since it is worth while for usealso in korea, the formula is introduced and explained in the following.

  • The purpose of this article is to find a relation between the finite difference method and the boundary element method, and propose a new approach deriving a discrete approximation formula as like that of the finite difference method for harmonic functions. We develop a discrete approximation formula on a uniform grid based on the boundary integral formulations. We consider three different boundary integral formulations and derive one discrete approximation formula on the uniform grid for the harmonic function. We show that the proposed discrete approximation formula has the same computational molecules with that of the finite difference formula for the Laplace operator ${\nabla}^2$.

  • In this paper, we present an improvement of a closed-form formula for mutual impedance computation. Depending on the center-to-center spacing between two rectangular microstrip patch antennas, the mutual impedance formula is separated into two parts. The formula based on synthetic asymptote and variable separation is utilized for spacings of more than 0.5 ${\lambda}_0$. When the spacing is less than 0.5 ${\lambda}_0$, an approximate formula is proposed to improve the computation for closely spaced elements. Simulation results are compared to computational results of mutual impedances and mutual coupling coefficients as functions of normalized center-to-center spacing in both E- and H-plane coupling configurations. A good agreement between simulation and computation is achieved.

  • This study is concerned with the analysis of the formulas which give both the quantity of the total, suspended and bed loads as functions of stream and sediment characteristics. The numerical analysis of sediment discharge formulas is described and the computer program for the following 4 formulas are developed; (1) Einstein's Formula (2) Toffaleti's Formula (3) Brown's Formula (4) Kikkawa's Formula In the analysis of these formulas, the hydraulic data of the river in the downstream of the Han River are used, and these formulas have been tested by application and comparison with observed data and the results computed by the computer. In these methods and procedures, the most satisfactory and convenient formula is selected. The design and planning of the river channel regulation works are determined by computing the river bed variation by using the sediment discharge computed from the selected formula.
