In this study, analysis of the cultural effects on design expressions and comparative analysis of designers' cultural background on their expression methods were implemented. The purpose of this study is to help the professionals and learners who pursue towards cultural designs in the design field utilize this research work as reference data and academic materials, and to contribute to the development of designs in the Eastern cultures. The author compared the differences between the viewpoints depending on background, either the Eastern or the Western culture, based on the existing studies and literatures, and analyzed the relationship between the viewpoints and expressions. Also, analyses of the expression methods related with cultural viewpoints and design viewpoints were conducted, especially with analysis of works of Uchida Shigeru from the East and Berner Panton from the West. Although both of their works were produced contemporarily and expressed with similar techniques, each of the conceptual approaches to their works represents different characteristics of the cultural viewpoint. Such a finding suggests that the approach to the design process should take place in a different way based on its cultural background, and it is accordingly required to seek for a new method for cultural design process.

Yunnan(云南) province is located in southwest of China in which has four seasons and many historical remains. Twenty-six minor ethnics live in the Yunnan province which is known as a living folk museum. This is because they have preserved and developed their folk costume, artcraft, music and dance in their peculiar way with natural/cultural surroundings.(omitted)

Pi was worn like a shawl or scarf in Western costume In a broad sense it means a skirt a towel a vest and a shawl However the subject of this study has limited a naarrow sense a long shawl Historically it appeared since Jin to Chung dynasty and had various names according to each dynasty Also Pi was changed its shape colour pat-terns and details with various names. Therefore the purpose of the study is to ana-lyze the formative characteristics of pi includ-ing how to wear it through Chinese history.

A negative waveform was studied to improve the driving characteristics of reset and address periods in ac PDP. Comparative experiments between negative and conventional positive waveforms were performed with 42-inch XGA PDP module. The negative waveform showed lower breakdown voltage than the conventional positive waveform in reset period. Due to its weak and stable discharge during reset period, the contrast ratio was improved by decreasing the black luminance. During address period, the discharge time-lag was measured. The formative time lag ($=T_f$) of negative waveform was improved about 22.8% than $T_f$ of conventional positive waveform.

An alternate application of MgO film for the improvement of discharge characteristics and life time in an ac plasma display panel (PDP) is suggested. In this research, we deposited MgO on the phosphor to get the same address characteristics irrespective of each phosphor. To avoid the luminance and efficiency degradation by MgO deposition on the phosphor, we optimized the MgO thickness through experiments. The results showed that PDP with MgO coated phosphor has a uniform formative delay in address discharge and improved degradation characteristics.

The purpose of this study is to clarify the expansion of functions of clothes by analyzing the characteristics of transformation, and to forecast future trends in fashion through systematization of the aforementioned analyses. Analysis of 20th century Modernism and Post-Modernism in a sociocultural sense confirms that transformation in clothes was formed by environmental, functional, deconstructive, and expressive factors. In this sense, the formative factors mentioned above conceptually include nomadic characteristics, usefulness, irregularity, and expressiveness. The nomadic characteristics found in clothes transformation signify the change of clothes into environmental nomadic everyday implements, used as tools for the body. Usefulness of clothes means that it is worn for variability, multipurpose multi-functionality, and combined multiple use. Irregularity means the clothes can change indefinitely, according to random manipulation on the wearer's part. Last of all, expressiveness conveys the designer's internal sensitivity and imagination onto an external object through the induction of various expressive factors.

The study is intended to clarify the ideologies and principles applied to the formative expression of church architecture which is contained both the God and human. Iconography as the relation between described target and the meaning as meaning analysis especially emphasized since the religious reason in religious art. Iconography is the area of discussing rules and habits and involved in the pieces of transition from the piece of experience obtained by sensing to the one of the ethical structure. N. L. Prak who apply meaning theory of E. Panofsky who distinguish between iconography and iconology clear relation of mental foundation which characteristics of shape of art and its concretion in architecture categorized the shape of meaning in three steps. Among them, conscious symbol and unconscious symbol correspond to iconography and iconology of Panofsky respectively. The symbol is mainly showed in religious architecture and is not related to simple practical architecture. Such symbol system can be important discussion objects in modern church architecture and necessary expressional system for expressional characteristics.

제품 디자인에 있어서 조형화 과정은 실체적인 존재를 만들어 내는 과정이며, 최종적으로 제품에 대한 결과를 이끌어 내는 중요한 과정이다. 이러한 조형화 과정은 일반적으로 디자이너의 주도적인 작업에 의해서 이루어지고 있으며, 이 때 다양한 조형 요소들을 활용하여 결과물을 만들어 낸다. 본 연구에서는 제품 디자인 프로세스에 있어서 제품 형태의 조형화 과정에서 다루어지는 요소들이 소비자와 디자이너의 시각 차이에 의해서 생기는 차이에 대해 알아보고 소비자가 제품의 조형화 과정에 직접적인참여를 하는 방법과 소비자의 요구가 보다 효율적으로 조형화 과정에 반영되는 디자인 가이드라인의 제시에 대한 가능성을 고찰하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 먼저 제품 형태를 구성하는 요소들에 대한 정립을 선행하여 기본적인 제품 조형 구성 체계를 마련하였다. 이를 기반으로 기본적인 제품 조형요소와 제품 조형원리를 일부 설정하여 소비자를 대상으로 55개의 컨셉 제품과 64개의 스피커 제품의 이미지에 대한 반응 실험을 진행하였다. 또한 일부 실험 자극물을 이용하여 디자이너들을 대상으로 동일한 실험을 진행하였는데, 실험 결과 소비자와 디자이너는 형태의 조형 요소에 대해 어느 정도 시각 차이를 보이며 이는 디자이너의 경우 주관적인 디자인 통념에 의해서, 소비자의 경우 제품에 대한 미숙한 시각적 이해에 의해서 차이가 생기는 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 디자이너는 소비자의 최종적인 감성반응을 이끌어내는 디자인 과정에 있어서 형태에 대한 시각 차이를 이해하고, 형태 조형원리를 기반으로 하는 조형요소의 구성을 활용 할 수 있다고 본다.

To begin with, this research arranged this concepts by analyzing paper a reference paper. So, the theory was arranged by approaching the ideal, formative and contemporary side. In order to type characteristics expression of organic design, after year 2000 printed in "Interiors" journal analyzed the contents based on interior works. 1. A type of metaphorical expression, order and the imitations of animals and plants. 2. A type of non liner, and dynamical balance and irregularity. 3. A type of mass of indeterminate form. 4. A type of fluidity by a curved line and a curved surface.

This study is on the aesthetic characteristics of Balenciaga design succeeded to by Nicolas Ghesquiere, and tried to understand his pursuing brand's new design concept and aesthetics. The three key characteristics of Balenciaga designed by Nicolas Ghesquiere are Retrospecitvness, Eclecticism, Deconstruciton. First, Balenciaga looks retrospective sense through reinterpreting tradition. Nicolas created a new sense of expression by mixing his proper instinct with Balenciaga's original properties, historical components of the past western dress, and various design elements of assistants who used to work in Balenciaga. Second, Balenciaga expresses uncertain meaning by compromising between contrast and synthesis among the past and the future, the males and the females, simple and ornament, or different styles. Third, Nicolas's experimental and outsider-oriented view of Deconstruction through reorienting of thought is considered a try for a new formative concept as a designer who is not limited by general rules.
