자동차용 알루미늄 5185-폴리프로필렌 샌드위치 판재의 성형성 (Formability of Aluminum 5182-Polypropylene Sandwich Panel for Automotive Application)

  • The objective of this study was to develop formability evaluation techniques in order to apply aluminum sandwich panel for automotive body parts. For this purpose, newly adopting formability evaluation (using limit dome height and plane strain test) was carried out in order to secure the fundamental data for the measurement of sheet metal forming and the establishment of optimum forming conditions of the aluminum sandwich panel. The results showed that there were good agreements between the old formability evaluation method and the new method which was more simplified than that of old one. From the results of these formability evaluation, the formability of sandwich panel was higher than that of aluminum alloy sheet alone which was the skin component for the sandwich panel. Also, it was found that sandwich panel could reduce the weight and could have the same flexural rigidity simultaneously when it was compared to the automotive steel sheet.

  • Tube hydroforming process is generally consisted with pre-bending, preforming and hydroforming processes. Among forming defects which may occur in tube hydroforming such as buckling, wrinkling and bursting, the wrinkling and bursting by local instability under excessive tensile stress mode were mainly caused by thinning phenomenon in the manufacturing process. Thus the accurate prediction and suitable evaluation of the thinning phenomenon play an important role in designing and producing the successfully hydroformed parts without any failures. In this work, the formability on hydroformed part for automobile, i.e. engine cradle, was evaluated using finite element analysis. The initial tube radius, loading path with axial feeding force and internal pressure, and preformed configuration after preforming process were considered as the dominant process parameters in total tube hydroforming process. The effects on these process parameters could be confirmed through the numerical experiments with respect to several kinds of finite element simulation conditions. The degree of enhancement on formability with each process parameters such as initial tube radius, loading path and preform configuration were also compared. Therefore, it is noted that the evaluation approach of the formability on hydroformed parts for lots of industrial fields proposed in this study will provide one of feasible methods to satisfy the increasing practical demands for the improvement of the formability in tube hydroforming processes.

  • The press formability analysis of welding parts was studied in the current work by the tailor welded blank. As the body panel is used in the press forming of welding parts by a weld method of the tailor welded blank, the following conditions are demanded: 1) The strength of welding parts must be the higher than base metals. 2) After the welding, severe welding deformatins must be avoided. 3) The press formability of welding parts is similar to that of many base metals. 4) The productibility of a welding has to be higher. There are many welding methods satisfying these conditions, but the purpose of this study is to inbestigate the upset weldability and formability of the material (SPCC). SPCC steel sheet showed good weldability and formability under some welding conditions. The experimental results were discussed by the evaluation of the results obtained from tensile tests, hardness tests, micro-structures and Erichsen cup test was a little lower than that of parent material.

  • This study examined the mechanical properties and bending formability evaluation of spring strip materials(SK5 CSPH, STS 301 CSP-EH, C7701-H). The hardness test and tensile test were performed at room temperature($20^{\circ}C$) for mechanical properties. The U-bending test were carried out at various conditions of punch corner radius(Rp), ratio of punch comer radius/thickness(Rp/t) and ratio of clearance/thickness(Rp/t) and ratio of clearance/thickness(C/t) for bending formability evaluation.

  • The press formability analysis of welding parts was studied in the current work by the tailor welded blank. The press formability was tested by means of the flash weldability and the formability for two kinds of materials (SPCC & S35C). The results indicate that SPCC & S35C steel sheets showed good weldability and formability after an optimum welding conditions. The independent operation variables were characterized by strength of welding parts, deformation after the welding, press formability of welding parts and productibility of welding. The weldability and the quality of welding parts of the flashed SPCC steel sheet was superior to those of the S35C steel sheet, since a higher carbon content in steel sheet led to a higher hardness. The experimental results were discussed by the evaluation of the results obtained from tensile test, hardness test, micro-structure and V bending test.

  • In this study, laser welding of aluminum AA5182 with AA5356 filler wire was carried out and the formability of the weld joint was evaluated through Erichsen test according to laser power, welding speed and wire feed rate. Fracture was occurred in both directions, perpendicular and parallel to the weld line at 0.75 of Erichsen ratio. Second order Regression model to estimate Erichsen ratio with experimental variables was proposed and the performance of model was evaluated with F-test and average error rate.

  • Magnesium(Mg) alloys have been evaluated as replacements for steel or aluminum parts in the automobile industry because of the fuel economy they can provide through reducing weight. The application of Mg alloys has been limited due to its low formability at room temperature, which results from a small number of active slip systems. In the current study, an extruded TAZ711(Mg-7Sn-1Al-1Zn) alloy was warm forged into an automotive control arm to evaluate its formability at various forging temperature. Warm forging was conducted at temperatures of 200, 250, 350 and 450℃. Static strength evaluation was performed on the as-forged specimen at 250℃. The results showed good static strength.

  • The combination of tailor welded blank (TWB) and hot stamping often offers improved crash-worthiness and reduced mass of stamped parts in the automobile body. To investigate the formability of laser TWB and the reliability of weld line, the present study used 22MnB5 boron steel sheet of the same thickness and used the Erichsen cupping test at elevated temperatures. The effects of laser direction, die temperature, weld line positions and forming speed on formability(the limiting dome height) were studied and the results were compared with the formability of the base material.

  • Since Mg alloy has many attractive advantages among the practically used metals, many researchers have been studied to develop useful process and material. The crystal structure of Magnesium was hexagonal close-packed, so its formability was poor at room temperature. But formability was improved in high temperature with increasing of slip planes, twins, dynamic recrystallization. In this study The formability of AZ31B magnesium sheet is estimated according to the variable temperatures, forming speed, thickness, blank holding force. The results of deep drawing experiences show that the formability is well at the range from 200 to $250^{\circ}C$, 20 to 60 mm/min forming speed and 2.5 to 3KN blank holding force.
