Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva 환자의 증례보고 및 치과 치료시 고려 사항 (A CASE REPORT AND DENTAL TREATMENT CONSIDERATIONS OF FIBRODYSPLASIA OSSIFICANS PROGRESSIVA PATIENT)

  • Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva(FOP)는 연조직의 진행성 이소성 골경화를 특징으로 한다. 상염색체 우성 유전을 따르지만 대부분의 FOP 환자는 ACVR1 유전자의 새로운 돌연변이로 인해 나타난다. 아주 작은 외상조차도 연조직의 영구적인 골경화를 유발할 수 있기 때문에 일반적인 치과치료에 의해서도 합병증이 생길 수 있다. FOP 환자의 치과치료 시 전달마취, 과도한 근육의 스트레칭, 생검 등은 모두 금기이다. 현재까지 알려진 FOP의 효과적인 치료법은 없다. FOP는 유병률이 매우 낮으며 초기에는 오진되는 경우가 많아 부적절한 처치로 인해 증상을 더욱 악화시키는 경우가 많다. 따라서 조기진단 및 합병증 발생을 줄이기 위한 예방적 조치가 가장 중요하다. 본 증례는 서울대학교병원 소아정형외과에서 특발성 FOP로 진단을 받고 하악 좌, 우측 유중절치의 만기잔존을 주소로 소아치과에 의뢰된 8세 1개월의 남아에서 증상의 악화없이 치과치료를 시행하였기에 이와 관련하여 FOP환자의 특징적 소견 및 치과치료 시 고려사항을 고찰하기 위함이다.

3종의 버섯균사체로 발효한 천년초 에탄올 추출물의 생리활성 (Biological Activity of Ethanol Extracts from Fermented Opuntia humifusa with 3 Different Mushroom Mycelia)

  • The present study was carried out to investigate the biological activity of ethanol extracts from fermented Opuntia humifusa with 3 different mushroom mycelia: Phellinus linteus, Lentinula edodes, and Pleurotus ostreatus. Fermented Opuntia humifusa by Phellinus linteus (FOP) and Lentinula edodes (FOL) showed more DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities than non-fermented Opuntia humifusa (NFO) and fermented Opuntia humifusa by Pleurotus ostreatus (FOPO). At a concentration of 250 ppm, the ABTS radical scavenging activities of the FOP and FOL were similar to that of BHA, a synthetic antioxidant. The total polyphenol content had a similar tendency to that of the radical scavenging activity. However, the flavonoid content was increased in the order of NFO, FOL, FOPO, and FOP. At all concentrations, the tyrosinase inhibitory activity of FOP and FOPO were significantly higher than that of kojic acid. During adipocyte differentiation, NFO and FOL showed no significant difference in lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 cells. FOP and FOPO showed a higher fat accumulation inhibitory effect than NFO and FOL. These results provide baseline data for Opuntia humifusa as a novel functional food.

접지전류 분류계수 및 전위강하곡선법을 이용한 운전 중인 변전소의 접지저항 측정 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Grounding Resistance Measurement of Power Supplying Substation using Grounding Current Division Factor and FOP Profile Method)

  • Since transmission and distribution neutral wires are connected with a substation grounding grid, it is very difficult to measure grounding resistance of isolated substation grounding grid after the substation is energized. It is impractical to isolate the grounding grid from other parallel connections such as distribution line neutrals and overhead ground wires for grounding resistance measurement only. In this paper, we proposed and demonstrated a novel measurement method of grounding resistance of isolated substation grounding grid. For this method, grounding current division factor and conventional FOP(Fall-Of-Potential) profiles were measured at power supplying 154[kV] substation. The obtained FOP profile was processed with the measured grounding current division factor to produce the grounding resistance of isolated grounding grid. Simulated FOP profile agreed well with the measured one showing the validity of the proposed method.

운전 중인 송전선로의 철탑 전위강하시험과 해석 (Test and Analysis of Fall-Of-Potential at Towers of Energized Transmission Lines)

  • Tower footing resistance and fault current division factor are important design factors for evaluation of the lightning performance of the transmission line and/or design of the grounding electrode system. The periodic measurement of those factors are also important to verify that the grounding performance of the towers has been maintained good. However, the direct measurement of those factors in operating or energized condition is very difficult because of many practical reasons, such as the difficulty of disconnecting overhead groundwires from the tower under test. With supports by GECOL (General Electricitiy Company of Libya), we had a special chance to conduct Fall-Of-Potential (FOP) test on the energized 220 kV transmission towers before and after disconnecting the overhead groundwires from the towers under test. In this paper, the FOP test results on the towers and the fault current division factors estimated from the comparision of the FOP tests with and without overhead groundwires were presented. The computer models for the FOP test simulations were also constructed to find that the simulated results agreed very well with the measured ones.

A Synthetic Tul4 and FopA Peptide Cocktail of Francisella tularensis Induces Humoral and Cell-Mediated Immune Responses in Mice

  • Francisella tularensis is a highly virulent pathogen of humans and other mammals. Moreover, F. tularensis has been designated a category A biothreat agent, and there is growing interest in the development of a protective vaccine. In the present study, we determine the in vitro and in vivo immune responses of a subunit vaccine composed of recombinant peptides Tul4 and FopA from epitopes of the F. tularensis outer membrane proteins. The recombinant peptides with adjuvant CpG induced robust immunophenotypic change of dendritic cell (DC) maturation and secretion of inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, IL-12). In addition, the matured DCs enabled ex vivo proliferation of naive splenocytes in a mixed lymphocyte reaction. Lastly, we determined the in vivo immune response by assessment of antibody production in C57BL/6 mice. Total IgG levels were produced after immunization and peaked in 6 weeks, and moreover, Tul4-specific IgG was confirmed in the mice receiving peptides with or without CpG. Based on these results, we concluded that the recombinant peptides Tul4 and FopA have immunogenicity and could be a safe subunit vaccine candidate approach against F. tularensis.

Humanized Mice for the Evaluation of Francisella tularensis Vaccine Candidates

  • Francisella tularensis (FT), a highly infectious pathogen, is considered to be a potential biological weapon owing to the current lack of a human vaccine against it. Tul4 and FopA, both outer membrane proteins of FT, play an important role in the bacterium's immunogenicity. In the present study, we evaluated the immune response of mice - humanized with human CD34+ cells (hu-mice) - to a cocktail of recombinant Tul4 and FopA (rTul4 and rFopA), which were codon-optimized and expressed in Escherichia coli. Not only did the cocktail-immunized hu-mice produce a significant human immunoglobulin response, they also exhibited prolonged survival against an attenuated live vaccine strain as well as human T cells in the spleen. These results suggest that the cocktail of rTul4 and rFopA had successfully induced an immune response in the hu-mice, demonstrating the potential of this mouse model for use in the evaluation of FT vaccine candidates.

  • 접지저항의 측정은 접지극의 성능을 정량적으로 평가하는 가장 일반적인 방법이며, 여러 측정방법 중 전위강하 법은 대형 접지극의 저항측정에 많이 이용되는 방법이다. 그러나 접지극의 크기에 비례하여 측정선 길이도 길어져야 하므로, 대규모 접지전각의 경우 현장여건상 충분한 길이의 측정선을 펼치기가 곤란한 경우가 있을 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 여러 개의 접지망이 상호 연결되어 대규모의 접지극 네트워크를 형성하고 있어 충분한 길이의 전위강하법 측정선을 펼치는 것이 현실적으로 어려운 경우에 전위강하법 측정결과의 해석방법을 제시한다. 사례연구로서 상부댐 접지극과 약 2(km) 떨어져 있는 스위치야드 접지극이 상호 연결된 대형 접지극망에서 전위강하법 측정곡선 및 해석사례를 기술하였다.

성인 II 급 환자의 안면 수직고경및 교합평면의 특징에 관한 두부방사선학적 연구 (ROENTGENOCEPHALOMETRIC STUDY ON FACIAL HEIGHT AND OCCLUSAL PLANE INCLINATION IN CLASS II MALOCCLUSION GROUP)

  • 본 연구에서는 II급 부정교합자의 교합평면의 형태적 특징을 관찰하고, 안면의 수직고경과 연관지어 정상교합군과 비교하여 교합평면의 발현에 영향을 미치는 골격성, 치성요인의 기여정도를 알아보고자 했다. 성장과 연령군의 변이를 배제하기 위해 성장이 완료된 성인만을 연구대상으로 정하였다. 정상교합자 50명과 서울대학교 치과진료부 교정과에 내원한 50명의 Angle class II 환자의 측모 두부방사선 계측사진분석을 통하여 다음의 결과를 얻었다. 1. II급 부정교합자군에서 정상군보다 유의하게 크게 관찰된 교합평면의 경사도는 다음과 같다. ; SN-FOP, FH-BOP, MP-BOP, AB-BOP, AB-FOP, Facial plane-BOP, FP-FOP 2. II급 부정교합자군에서는 정상군에 비해 후안면 고경, 특히 후하안면고경이 유의한 차이를 보였다. 3. 교합평면과 상하악 전치가 이루는 각은 II급 부정교합군에서 통계적으로 유의하게 컸고, 대구치와 이루는 각은 상악 대구치와 해부학적 교합평면이 이루는 각만이 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 4. 교합평면의 위치를 결정하는 요소중에서 하악절치에서 하악평면에 이르는 거리만이 II급 부정교합군에서 유의하게 컸다. 5. III급 부정교합군에서는 수직피개도와 교합평면 경사도의 상관관계가 존재하지만, 정상 교합군에서는 수직피개도와 교합평면 경사도간에 상관관계가 존재하지 않았다.

Understanding and Responsiveness Level about Cervical Cancer and its Avoidance among Young Women of Pakistan

  • Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality amongst the gynecological cancers worldwide, especially in developing countries. There are few to no initial symptoms and signs. This study was conducted to assess the awareness level of young Pakistani women about cervical cancer and to educate them about this deadly disease. A detailed questionnaire regarding demographic data and information about cervical cancer was distributed in different cities of Punjab. A total of 873 women took part in this survey and 70.1 percent were totally unaware of this cancer. Only 8.5% of the whole surveyed population knew accurately about cancer of cervix, 7% of the surveyed respondents correctly specified the human papilloma virus as the causative agent. Only 5.2% respondents were able to identify the Pap smear test as a diagnostic measure. Out of all the surveyed population only 4.3% of individuals were found to be vaccinated against this disease and the majority was found from the medical profession. Medical professionals, students, working women, housewives and uneducated individuals took active part in this survey. This study demonstrates a low level of awareness among Pakistani women and a need for an active campaign by media and government to increase understanding as well as introducing measures for improved prevention and treatment of cervical cancer.

변전소 접지설계를 위한 대지저항율 측정시 전극간 최대간격이 접지해석에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Maximum Probe Spacing of Soil Resistivity Survery on Substation Grounding Analysis)

  • Presently, typical maximum probe spacing of soil resistivity survey(Wenners 4 pin method) is 20 m in case of 154 K substation grounding design of KEPCO. This paper examined the effects of maximum probe spacing of wenner method on the equivalent soil modeling and the accuracy of grounding resistance measurement by comparing the calculated FOP(Fall-of-Potential) curves of various soil models with the measured one at 154kV H substation. The comparison results showed that the inaccurate estimation of deep soil resistivity, which is caused from the short probe spacing of soil resistivity survey, can produce large errors on measurement of grounding resistance. In this paper a quantitative analysis of FOP at H substation has been presented.
