Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the impact of a School-based Depression Awareness Education Program on depression knowledge and help-seeking orientation for adolescent. Methods: The students of two high schools were allocated to the intervention (n=221) or control group (n=223) in this cluster-randomized trial. The school-based depression awareness education was a 3-hour program. The intervention group received pre, post and follow up tests while the control group received pre and follow up tests after two months. Depression knowledge, attitude to friends'depression, and help-seeking for professional assistance was evaluated at each test. Differences in the two month change between the intervention and control groups were analyzed by t-test or chi-square test. Results: There were positive changes in depression knowledge, response to friend's depression, and attitude to professional help-seeking in the post test compared to the pretest among intervention group. Improvement of depression knowledge was greater in the intervention group than in the control group (P=0.011), but there were no significant differences in response to friend's depression (P=0.268) or help-seeking orientation (P=0.263) after two months. Conclusions: School-based Depression Awareness Education resulted in significant positive changes in depression knowledge in high school students, but made no attitudes difference to professional help-seeking.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate adherence to the clean intermittent catheterization (CIC) and influencing factors on the adherence following a customized intensive education program (CIEP). Methods: This work is a retrospective descriptive study. The subjects were 226 emptying failure patients who learned in a CIEP from January 2012 to July 2014. The program developed in 2011 and consisted of 1) customized theoretical education; based on the results of urologic tests, underlying disease, or surgery of the patients, 2) hands-on practice until the trainees were able to master the techniques, 3) questions about the process of catheterization and what he/she needs to know. 4) at follow-up, the survey about adherence and barrier to CIC. Clinical characteristics; the level of satisfaction, understanding, and self-confidence; the barrier in medical records were reviewed. Results: The short-term adherence rate (median 22 days) is 87.6% and the long-term adherence rate (median 112 days) is 50.4%. The biggest obstacle is time management. The levels of satisfaction, understanding, and self-confidence are very high. The variable of Income is the only factor that has influence on adherence. Conclusion: Despite the CIEP, the adherence rate is relatively low. In addition to the education, emotional and psychological supports and regular follow-up are needed to improve long-term adherence.
Objective : The purpose of this study is to confirm whether the effectiveness of the program is sustainable 9 months after project completion for the children and adolescents participating in a childcare and rehabilitation support project. Methods : This study was carried out in three phases: pre-(2016.5~6), post-(2016.10~12) and follow-up evaluation phases (2017.9) of 120 children and adolescents who participated in a treatment and rehabilitation of children project in 2016. The analysis was conducted using a repeated mesures ANOVA to identify changes in problem behaviors. Results : The problem behavior of preschoolers in middle and high schools decreased after the post-evaluation compared to the pre-evaluation, and the effect of treatment was maintained afterward. Elementary school students displayed fewer problem behaviors after the post-evaluation than in the pre-evaluation, and follow-up more. The purpose of this study is to develop the group program model for reinforcing family relations of single-mother families as one approach to family welfare service. As previous research findings about problems of single parent families were reviewed and the framework for the program development was identified, a 6 sessions group program was planned and applied to 9 single-mother families from June 2nd to July 7th. Program evaluation questionnaire, Scales measuring powerlessness and FACESIII for family relations, social support network tool, and group process recording were used for the evaluation of this program. The participants evaluated this program as very supportive, useful, and educational. The powerlessness was reduced in a statistically meaningful way before and after the program and the result was found to be maintained for 4 months in the follow-up session. The family relations according to FACES III were mostly balanced and didn't show some significant change after the termination of this program. The single mothers had little concrete supports from others, if any, had some from relatives. They rather had to give supports for the other family members and reciprocally gave and took emotional or informational supports with friends or neighbors. Based on these results, the 2 step model consisted of brief group program and long term support group was developed and the practical methods were suggested for the single-mother families with low income.
