This paper reports the fabrication of a lenticular liquid crystal (LC) lens array with thermally tunable focus and with the function of a convertible lens type, using the surface structure of a UV-curable polymer and a twisted-nematic (TN) LC cell. The TN LC cell makes the LC lenticular lens function as a converging or diverging lens by controlling electrically the polarization of input light. Therefore, the focal lengths for both the converging and diverging lenses, which can be switched from the TN cell, can be tuned by changing the effective refractive index of the LC by Joule heating of the transparent electrode. As a result, the focal length of the lens with the E7 LC was changed continuously from 8.7 to 31.2 mm for the converging lens type and from -9.8 to -14.2 mm for the diverging lens when the temperature was increased from 25 to $56^{\circ}C$.

In this paper, there was finding laser beam focal length using the camera at the work with laser preprocess. A process have some similarity that the laser direct writing was condition of unused other light source in order to a partical object of working substrate, so we worked finding focal length using yellow light. As we found focal lengths from three points of substrate edges, The focal length of all substrates was able to be computed by calculating a plane equation using these three point. Also we make a device and software that can automatically perform all of the processes.
The purpose of this study was to characterize focal hepatic lesions through pre and post ferucarbotran-enhanced T2 and T2*-weighted imaging and to help differentiate benign and malignant lesions 대상 및 방법: Consecutive 34 patients with 52 hepatic lesions underwent MRI before and after intravenous bolus injection of ferucarbotran (Resovist Sobering, Berlin, Germany) for evaluation of focal hepatic lesions. Lesions included hemangiomas (n=17), metastases (n=12), cysts (n=10), hepatocellular carcinomas (n=8), dysplastic nodules (n=4), and focal fat deposit (n=1). T2-weighted fast spin echo (TR/TE: 4060/138) and gradient echo T2*-weighted images(TR/TE: 140/5.3, FA = 90) were obtained according to the institutional routine imaging protocol. Lesional signal-intensity and lesion-to-liver contrast changes were measured by contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) from region of interest.

We have designed a digital variable-focal-length liquid lens by using 4-bit actuators. Each bit actuator consists of 1, 2, 4, and 8 unit actuators, squeezes discrete fluidic volume of $2^4$ different levels into the lens The 4-bit digital actuation mode ($b_4b_3b_2b_1$) affords $2_4$ different lens curvatures and focal lengths. The on/off control of the bit actuators helps in solving the main problem associated with analog liquid lenses, i.e., precise control of the pressure or volume of the fluid for changing the lens curvature and focal length. Experimentally, it has been found that the 4-bit actuators allow 0.074 nl (${\pm}0.02\;nl$) of the given fluid per bit to enter the lens and help in increasing the focal length from 3.63 mm to 38.6 mm in $2^4$ different levels; no high-cost controllers are required for precise control of the pressure or volume in this case. Therefore, the present digital liquid lens is more suitable to integrated optical systems by reducing additional component for pressure and volume control.
In and around the Korean Peninsula, 18 intraplate earthquake focal mechanisms since 1936 were analyzed to understand the characteristic of focal mechanism and regional stress orientation and tectonics. These earthquakes are largest ones from the last century and may represent the characteristics of earthquake in this region. Focal mechanism of these earthquakes show predominant strike-slip faulting with small amount of thrust components. The average P-axis is almost horizontal ENE-WSW direction. This mechanism pattern and the direction of maximum stress axis is very similar with northeastern part of China and southwestern part of Japan. However they are quite different with the eastern part of East Sea. This indicate that not only the subducting Pacific Plate from east but also the indenting Indian Plate controls focal mechanism in the far east of the Eurasian Plate.

Purpose : This study is intended to examine the repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation on cognitive function in the focal ischemic stroke rat model. Methods : This study selected 30 Sprague-Dawley rats of 8 weeks. The groups were divided into two groups and assigned 15 rats to each group. Control group: Non-treatment after injured by focal ischemic stroke; Experimental group: application of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(0.1 Tesla, 25 Hz, 20 min/time, 2 times/day, 5 days/2 week) after injured by focal ischemic stroke. To assess the effect of rTMS, the passive avoidance test, spatial learning and memory ability test were analyzed at the pre, 1 day, $7^{th}$ day, $14^{th}$ day and immunohistochemistric response of BDNF were analyzed in the hippocampal dentate gyrus at $7^{th}$ day, $14^{th}$ day. Results : In passive avoidance test, the outcome of experimental group was different significantly than the control group at the $7^{th}$ day, $14^{th}$ day. In spatial learning and memory ability test, the outcome of experimental group was different significantly than the control group at the $7^{th}$ day, $14^{th}$ day. In immunohistochemistric response of BDNF in the hippocampal dentate gyrus, experimental groups was more increased than control group. Conclusion : These result suggest that improved cognitive function by repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation after focal ischemic stroke is associated with dynamically altered expression of BDNF in hippocampal dentate gyrus and that is related with synaptic plasticity.
Objectives : Delayed neuronal death(DND) of pyramidal neuronsin the CA1 regions of the hippocampus has been extensively studied following global brain ischemia, whereas little is known about DND in this highly vulnerable brain region after focal brain ischemia. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of Gastrodiae Elata(GA) pharmacopuncture on hippocampal neuronal apoptosis in rats with focal brain ischemic injury. Materials and methods : The neuroprotective effects of water extracts of GA were investigated in middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAo) of Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats. Seventy-five healthy SD ratswere randomly divided into five groups following MCAo : control group with focal ischemia, saline injection group, pharmacopuncture group GA-1($0.0007mg/m{\ell}/g$), pharmacopuncture group GA-2($0.00035mg/m{\ell}/g$), pharmacopuncture group GA-3($0.00014mg/m{\ell}/g$). Results : The intensity of mGluR5 increased in the GA-1 group. The intensity of Bax and the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio decreased in the GA-1 group. The intensity of Bcl-2 increased in all the GA groups. The density of neurons stained by Cresyl violet and ChAT increased in the GA-1 group. Conclusions : Our study suggests that GA pharmacopuncture at $GB_{20}$ showed anti-apoptotic and neuroprotective effects on cholinergic neuronsin focal cerebral ischemia caused by stroke in SD rats.
Objectives: This study was performed to investigate the effects of acupuncture therapy(AT, AT-9), electro-acupuncture therapy(EAT) and low level laser acupuncture therapy(LAT) at LRJ on the focal ischemia-induced by intraluminal filament insertion in rats. Methods : In the present syudy, the focal ischemia was induced by Intraluminal filament insertion into left middle cerebral artery. The subjects were divided into five groups after focal brain ischemia. (n=15, in each group) : Control with no treatment, AT with acupuncture at $LR_3$, AT-9 with acupuncture at $LR_3$ and rotating 9 times in a clockwise direction, EAT with electro-acupuncture at $LR_3$ and LAT with invasive laser acupuncture at $LR_3$. Anti-apoptotic and neuroprotective effects of acupuncture were observed by mGluR5 mRNA, Bax mRNA, Bcl-2 mRNA, Cytochrome C protein, Cresyl violet-stain and Choline acetyltransferase (ChAT)-stain in the hippocampus. Results: 1. In LAT, mGluR5, Cresyl violet-stain and ChAT-stain were increased. 2. In LAT, Cytochrome C protein was decreased. 3. In AT-9, Bax, Cytochrome C protein and the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio were decreased. 4. In AT-9, Bcl-2, Cresyl violet-stain and ChAT-stain were increased. 5. In EAT, Bcl-2 and Cresyl violet-stain were increased. Conclusions: These results suggests that LAT and AT-9 show anti-apoptotic and neuro-protective effects and that LAT and AT-9 may be useful for managing stroke by focal brain ischemia.

The seismic source parameters of the Uljin earthquake on 29 May 2004, including focal depth, focal mechanism, magnitude, and moment tensor elements for source characteristics, are analysed using moment tensor seismic source inversion. The Green‘s function for 3 crust models representing the southern Korean Peninsula are used. Also 3 kinds of epicenters are used to find optimum solution for seismic source parameters. Results show that seismic source parameters have a little dependency of azimuthal distribution and epicentral distances of seismic stations. Final results show that the event, considering 6 moment tensor elements, is caused by the typical reverse fault with nearly NS strike. The focal mechanism implies that the tectonic force around epicenter area currently has compressive environment, with nearly EW principal axis. The focal depth is estimated to be about 12km. The resultant focal mechanism show fairly good agreement to those of other studies. However, focal depth is much different from that of other studies.
