Seasonal variations of settling particles and metal fluxes were monitored at a nearshore site of Marian Cove, King Geroge Island, Antarctica from 28th February 1998 to 22nd January 2000. Near-bottom sediment traps were deployed at 30m water depth of the cove, and sampling bottles were recovered every month by SCUBA divers. Total particulate flux and metal concentrations were determined from the samples. Total particulate flux showed a distinct seasonality, high in austral summer and low in austral winter: the highest flux $(21.97g\;m^{-2}d^{-1})$ was found in February of 1999, and the lowest $(2.47g\;m^{-2}d^{-1})$ in September of 1998, when sea surface was frozen completely. Lithogenic particle flux accounted for 90% of the total flux, and showed a significantly negative correlation with the thickness of snow accumulation around the study site. It was suggested that the most of the lithogenic particles trapped in the bottles was transported by melt water stream from the surrounding land. Fluxes of Al, Fe, Ti, Mn, Zn, Cii, Co, Ni, Cr, Cd, and Pb showed similar seasonal variations with the total flux, and their averaged fluxes were 34000, 9000,960, 180, 13.8, 17.6, 3.0,2.1, 5.4, 0.02, and $1.5nmol\;m^{-2}d^{-1}$ respectively. Among the metals, Cu and Cd showed the most noticeable seasonal patterns. The Cd flux correlated positively with the fluxes of biogenic components while the Cu flux correlated with both the lithogenic and biogenic particle fluxes. The Cu flux peak in the late summer is likely related to a substantial amount of inflow of ice melt water laden with Cu-enriched lithogenic particles. On the other hands, the Cd flux peak in the early spring may be associated with the unusually early occurred phytoplankton bloom.
By using unique experimental techniques and careful construction of the experimental apparatus, the characteristics of the local heat transfer were investigated using the condensing R134a two-phase flow, in horizontal single mini-channels. The circular channels ($D_h=0.493$, 0.691, and 1.067 mm) and rectangular channels ($D_h=0.494$, 0.658, and 0.972 mm) were tested and compared. Tests were performed for a mass flux of 100, 200, 400, and 600 $kg/m^2s$, a heat flux of 5 to 20 $kW/m^2$, and a saturation temperature of $40^{\circ}C$. In this study, effect of heat flux, mass flux, vapor qualities, hydraulic diameter, and channel geometry on flow condensation were investigated and the experimental local condensation heat transfer coefficients are shown. The experimental data of condensation Nusselt number are compared with existing correlations.
This study experimentally and theoretically examines the fire characteristics of 100- by 100- by 50-mm samples of flame retardant treated Douglas fir. Samples were exposed to a range of incident heat fluxes 10 to $50kW/m^2$. The time to ignition measurements obtained from the cone heater were used to derive characteristic properties of the materials. A one-dimensional integral model has been used to predict the, time to ignition, critical heat flux and ignition temperature of samples. Ignition data and best-fit curves confirm ${{\dot{q}}_i}^{'}{\rightarrow}{{\dot{q}}_{cr}^{'}\;then\;t_{ig}{\rightarrow}{\infty}$ and when ${{\dot{q}}_i}^'{\gg}{{\dot{q}}_{cr}^'\;then\;t_{ig}{\rightarrow}0$. And Ignition of flame retardant treated samples occurred not at incident heat flux of bellow $10kW/m^2.$. By a one-dimensional integral model, the critical heat flux of each samples was predicted $10.21kW/m^2,\;11.82kW/m^2,\;and\;14.16kW/m^2$ for the D-N, D-F2, and D-F4, respectively. In ignition temperature of each samples, flame retardant treated samples were measured high about $50^{\circ}C$ than non-treated samples. Water-soluble flame retardant used in this study finds out more effect in delay of time to ignition when incident heat flux is low than high.
In this study a method to predict CHF(Critical heat flux) in vertical round tubes with axially non-uniform cosine heat flux distribution for water was examined. For this purpose a local condition hypothesis based CHF prediction correlation for uniform heat flux in vertical round tubes for water was developed from 9,366 CHF data points. The local correlation consisted of 4 local condition variables: the system pressure(P), tube diameter(D), mass flux of water(G), and 'true mass quality' of vapor($X_t$). The CHF data points used were collected from 13 different published sources having the following operation ranges: 1.01 ${\leq}$ P (pressure) ${\leq}$ 206.79 bar, 9.92${\leq}$ G (mass flux) ${\leq}$ 18,619.39 $kg/m^2s$, 0.00102 ${\leq}$ D(diameter) ${\leq}$ 0.04468 m, 0.0254${\leq}$ L (length) ${\leq}$ 4.966 m, 0.11 ${\leq}$ qc (CHF) ${\leq}$ 21.41 $MVW/m^2$, and -0.87 ${\leq}X_c$ (exit qualities) ${\leq}$ 1.58. The result of this work showed that a uniform CHF correlation can be easily extended to predict CHF in axially non-uniform heat flux heater. In addition, the location of the CHF in axially non-uniform tube can also be determined. The local uniform correlation predicted CHF in tubes with axially cosine heat flux profile within the root mean square error of 12.42% and average error of 1.06% for 297 CHF data points collected from 5 different published sources.
In order to design the current carrying conductor for GIS, it is important to predict temperature-rise when rated current flows. This paper deals with the coupling of Flux2D and analytic method to calculate the heat transfer coefficient. Heat transfer by conduction and convection is considered between the current carrying conductor and $SF_6$ gas. The result shows reasonable temperature distribution.
In this work, pure W and W-0.5wt%HfC alloy (WHC05) were fabricated by sintering and hot-rolling following the same processing route. After exposing to a high flux deuterium plasma irradiation with the D+ flux to three fluences of 6.00 × 1024, 2.70 × 1025 and 7.02 × 1025 D/m2, the evolution of surface morphology, deuterium retention and hardening behaviors in pure W and WHC05 has been studied. The SEM results show the formation of D blisters on the irradiated area, and with the increase of D implantation, the size of these blisters increases from 200 ~ 500 nm (2.70 × 1025 D/m2) to 1 ~ 2 ㎛ (7.02 × 1025 D/m2) in WHC05 and from 1 ~ 2 ㎛ (2.70 × 1025 D/m2) to > 3 ㎛ (7.02 × 1025 D/m2) in pure W, respectively. A higher D retention and obvious hardening are observed in pure W than that of the WHC05 alloy, indicating an improve radiation resistance in WHC05 compared to pure W.

Non-linear anisotropic materials were used to simulate the effects of tensile stress in 3D finite element analysis (FEA). FEA was used to calculate the effects of far and near-side pit depth and tensile stress on magnetic flux leakage (MFL) signals. The axial and radial MFL signals were depended on far and near-side double circular pit depth and on the stress, but the circumferential MFL signal was not depended on them. The axial and radial MFL signals increased with greater pit depth and applied stress, but the circumferential MFL signal was scarcely changed.

The membrane pilot plant has being operated in the Hyeondo pumping station to find the optimal operation technique of Gong-Ju membrane water treatment plant (WTP) which is constructing in $250m^3/d$ scale. The pilot plant was consisted of two trains which can treat $30,000m^3/d$ per train. First train was operated for one year under the condition of flux $1m^3/m^2{\cdot}d$ while the effects of flux variation and addition of powdered activated carbon(PAC) were evaluated in second train. The turbidity of membrane product water of first train which is operated on Flux $1m^3/m^2{\cdot}d$ was always below 0.05 NTU regardless of raw water turbidity. And also, the trance-membrane pressure(TMP) was maintained at $0.3{\sim}0.5kgf/cm^2$ for about 9 months and increased rapidly to $1.8kgf/cm^2$ which is maximum operating TMP. However, TMP was rapidly increased to $1.8kgf/cm^2$ within 2 months as flux was increased from 1 to $2m^3/m^2{\cdot}d$, especially, within 10 days under high turbidity(30~50NTU). This reault means that if Gongju membrane WTP is operated in flux $1m^3/m^2{\cdot}d$, chemical cleaning period can be maintained over 6 months. Only 10% of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) was removed in membrane process while the removal efficiencies of manganese and iron were 60% and 77% respectively. However, because only solid manganese and iron were removed in membrane process, an additional process for treating soluble manganese is required if souble manganese is high in raw water. 70% of 70ng/L 2-MIB which is causing taste & odor was removed in powdered activated carbon (PAC) tank with 50mg/L PAC which is design concentration of Gongju WTP. In addition, TMP was reduced with addition of 50mg/L PAC regardless of flux. Because TMP was not influenced even if 100mg/L PAC was added, the high taste and odor problem can be controled by additional injection of PAC.
To find the relationship between solar flares and halo CMEs using stereoscopic observations, we investigate 182 flare-associated halo CMEs among 306 front-side halo CMEs from 2009 to 2013. We have determined the 3D parameters (radial speed and angular width) of these CMEs by applying StereoCAT to multi-spacecraft data (SOHO and STEREO). For this work, we use flare parameters (peak flux and fluence) taken from GOES X-ray flare list and 2D CME parameters (projected speed, apparent angular width, and kinetic energy) taken from CDAW SOHO LASCO CME catalog. Major results from this study are as follows. First, the relationship between flare peak flux (or fluence) and CME speed is almost same for both 2D and 3D cases. Second, there is a possible correlation between flare fluence and CME width, which is more evident in 3D case than 2D one. Third, the flare fluence is well correlated with CME kinetic energy (CC=0.63). Fourth, there is an upper limit of CME kinetic energy for a given flare fluence (or peak flux). For example, a possible CME kinetic energy ranges from 1030.6 to 1033 erg for a given X1.0 class flare. Our results will be discussed in view of the physical mechanism of solar eruptions.

It is necessary to study the material circulation of coastal ecosystem according to aquacultural activity in order to induce the sustainable production of aquaculture and the fishery environment for the useful use. Hence, it is essential to make an exact assessment for the sedimentation release flux at the sediment-water interface in the aquafarm. Sediment oxygen demand and dissolved inorganic nitrogen release fluxes were compared using in-situ and laboratory incubational examination. Sediment oxygen demands were 116, 34, and $31\;mmol\;O_2\;m^{-2}\;d^{-1}$ (in-situ incubation), 52, 17, and $15\;mmol\;O_2\;m^{-2}\;d^{-1}$ (Core incubation) and dissolved inorganic nitrogen release fluxes were 7.18, 7.98, and $1.78\;mmol\;m^{-2}\;d^{-1}$ (in-situ incubation), 3.33, 3.74, and $1.96\;mmol\;m^{-2}\;d^{-1}$ (Core incubation) at Tongyeong finfish, Yeosu finfish, and Wando abalone cage farms, respectively. Consequently, in-situ incubation results showed two times higher than laboratory examination. We compared the material flux at the sediment-water interface of each farm and the characteristics between two different kinds of material flux examination.
