튜브형 수중교량의 교량-차량 동적상호작용 해석방법 (Dynamic interaction analysis of submerged floating tunnel and vehicle)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the algorithm for dynamic interaction analysis of submerged floating tunnel and vehicles. The dynamic behavior characteristic of submerged floating tunnel is certainly different with general structures, because the submerged floating tunnel is floating in the middle of water, and subjected to constant buoyance. Therefore the analyses in various aspects should be carried out to secure structural stability and practicality of structures. To conduct the dynamic interaction analysis, the structure is modeled by commercial FEM program ABAQUS to investigate modal characteristic. Also the added mass concept is applied to represent the inertial force by a fluid, and then dynamic interaction analyses are conducted with superposition method when the KTX is moving along the submerged floating tunnel. And the time histories are presented for vertical and lateral displacement at the center of the tunnel.

Response evaluation and vibration control of a transmission tower-line system in mountain areas subjected to cable rupture

  • Transmission tower-line systems are commonly slender and generally possess a small stiffness and low structural damping. They are prone to impulsive excitations induced by cable rupture and may experience strong vibration. Excessive deformation and vibration of a transmission tower-line system subjected to cable rupture may induce a local destruction and even failure event. A little work has yet been carried out to evaluate the performance of transmission tower-line systems in mountain areas subjected to cable rupture. In addition, the control for cable rupture induced vibration of a transmission tower-line system has not been systematically conducted. In this regard, the dynamic response analysis of a transmission tower-line system in mountain areas subjected to cable rupture is conducted. Furthermore, the feasibility of using viscous fluid dampers to suppress the cable rupture-induced vibration is also investigated. The three dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) model of a transmission tower-line system is first established and the mathematical model of a mountain is developed to describe the equivalent scale and configuration of a mountain. The model of a tower-line-mountain system is developed by taking a real transmission tower-line system constructed in China as an example. The mechanical model for the dynamic interaction between the ground and transmission lines is proposed and the mechanical model of a viscous fluid damper is also presented. The equations of motion of the transmission tower-line system subjected to cable rupture without/with viscous fluid dampers are established. The field measurement is carried out to verify the analytical FE model and determine the damping ratios of the example transmission tower-line system. The dynamic analysis of the tower-line system is carried out to investigate structural performance under cable rupture and the validity of the proposed control approach based on viscous fluid dampers is examined. The made observations demonstrate that cable rupture may induce strong structural vibration and the implementation of viscous fluid dampers with optimal parameters can effectively suppress structural responses.

  • 물에 잠긴 다공 원통형 쉘의 경우 물에 잠긴 상태로 유한요소해석을 하기에는 거의 불가능하므로 등가물성치를 사용하여야 한다. 다공 평판의 경우 이에 대한 등가물성치를 ASME 코드에서 제시하고 있지만, 다공 원통형 쉘의 등가물성치에 대한 연구는 아직까지 수행된 적이 없다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 유한요소해석을 이용하여 다공 원통형 쉘의 동적 해석에 이용할 수 있는 등가물성치를 제안하였고 그 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • Nonlinear flow-induced vibration characteristics of a generic missile wing (or control surface) are investigated in this study. The wing model has freeplay structural nonlinearity at its pitch axis. Nonlinear aerodynamic flows with unsteady shock waves are considered in the transonic flow region. To practically consider the effects of freeplay structural nonlinearity, the fictitious mass method (FMM) is applied to structural vibration analysis based on a finite element method (FEM). A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique is used for computing the nonlinear unsteady aerodynamics of all-movable wings. The aerodynamic analysis is based on the efficient transonic small-disturbance aerodynamic equations of motion using the potential-flow theory. To solve the nonlinear aeroelastic governing equations including the freeplay effect, a modal-based computational structural dynamic (CSD) analysis technique based on fictitious mass method (FMM) is used in time-domain. In addition, CSD and unsteady CFD techniques are simultaneously coupled to give accurate computational results. Various aeroelastic computations have been performed for a generic missile wing model. Linear and nonlinear aeroelastic computations have been conducted and the characteristics of flow-induced vibration are introduced.

Fully coupled FSI analysis of Francis turbines exposed to sediment erosion

  • Sediment erosion is one of the key challenges in hydraulic turbines from a design and maintenance perspective in Himalayas. The present study focuses on choosing the best design in terms of blade angle distribution of a Francis turbine runner which has least erosion effect without influencing the efficiency and the structural integrity. A fully coupled Fluid-Structure-Interaction (FSI) analysis was performed through a multi-field solver, which showed that the maximum stress induced in the optimized design for better sediment handling, is less than that induced in the reference design. Some numerical validation techniques have been shown for both CFD and FSI analysis.

압축성 유체로 충진된 원통형 탱크의 고유진동수의 특성 (Natural Frequency Characteristics of a Cylindrical Tank Filled with Bounded Compressible Fluid)

  • 이 논문은 압축성 유체로 채워진 원통형 탱크의 고유진동 특성을 파악하기 위한 해석적 방법을 제시하고 있다. 탱크의 동적거동은 유한 Fourier 급수전개 방법으로 전개하였으며, 압축성 유체는 선형 포텐셜 이론으로 전개하였다. 해석방법의 타당성을 검증하기 위하여 물로 채워진 양단고정의 경계조건을 갖는 원통형 탱크의 고유진동수를 해석적 방법으로 구한 다음, 상용 유한요소해석 프로그램인 ANSYS 5.2를 이용하여 검증하였다. 그 결과, 유한요소해석결과와 이론적인 방법으로 구한 이론해가 잘 일치하고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 유체의 밀도와 압축성이 탱크의 고유진동수에 미치는 영향을 정규화된 무차원 고유진동수를 통해서 평가하였다. 유체의 밀도는 탱크의 모든 진동 모드의 고유진동수에 영향을 주지만, 유체 압축성의 영향은 저차 원주방향 모드의 진동수에서 더 크게 나타나고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

유체-구조 연성해석 기법을 이용한 소형 터보차저 건전성 향상 연구 (Improvement of the Structural Soundness of a Small-Sized Turbocharger Using Fluid-Structural Interaction Analysis)

  • A small-sized turbocharger is generally used in downsizing engine for various vehicles. When a centrifugal compressor, which is one of the crucial units of the turbocharger, is downsized, the compressor has much more possibilities of being damaged because of its high rotating speed, causing insecure structural soundness. Thus, it is of essential to study on the improvement of the structural soundness of a small-sized turbocharger. In this study, numerical analysis on the various blade geometries and mass flow rate of the compressor was performed using the commercial software ANSYS CFX. In addition, the evaluation on the structural soundness of a compressor impeller for respective cases was conducted using ANSYS Mechanical. As a result, it was shown that the compressor had higher efficiency with increasingly secured structural soundness.

  • 본 논문에서는 유체-구조물 상호작용(Fluid-Structure interaction;FSI)에 관한 새로운 수치적 접근 방법의 제안과 타당성 검토가 목적이다. 기존의 유체 관내 유동에서는 유체-구조물 상호작용방법을 이용하여 해석하였으나 해석과정과 수치적 효율성에 문제점이 있다. 본 논문은 다공질 매체 거동을 이용하여 관내 유체 유동해석이 제안된다. 제안된 기법은 기존의 방법이 갖는 모델링의 어려움을 개선하고, 비교적 복잡한 과정이 수행되어 많은 계산 시간이 요구되어지는 수치적 효율성이 개선되었다. 또한 다공질 매체 거동에서 중요요소인 침투성과 유체-구조물 상호작용의 중요요소인 유체와 구조물경계의 마찰사이의 관계가 도출되었다.

  • A non-linear mathematical model has been developed for the dynamic analysis of the reactor internals. The model includes a lumped mass and stiffness with non-linear members such as gap-spring. As hydrodynamic couplings have also been considered in the model, the effect of fluid/structure interaction between internals components due to their immersion in a confining fluid can be studied for the dynamic response analysis. The reactor internals responses for seismic and pipe break excitations have been calculated for the case of with-and without-hydrodynamic couplings.

A review of fixed offshore platforms under earthquake forces

  • Advances in geological studies, have identified increased seismic activity in the world's ocean once believed to be far from seismic hazards. The increase in demand of oil and other hydrocarbons leaves no option but to install a suitable offshore platform on these seismically sensitive offshore basins. Therefore, earthquake based design criteria for offshore structures are essential. The focus of the present review is on various computational techniques involved for seismic response study. The structural and load modeling approaches, the disturbed fluid-structure and soil-structure interaction as well as hydrodynamic damping due to earthquake excitation are also discussed. A brief description on the reliability-based seismic design approach is also presented.
